(AP) &#8211; The National Weather Service says some<br \/>\nareas of northwest North Dakota got up to 18 inches of snow over<br \/>\nthe weekend.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meteorologist Ken Simosko says drivers should continue to be cautious on slick roads.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He says there is no significant snowfall forecast over the next<br \/>\nfew days, which should give people time to dig out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TRAVEL INFORMATION: Mon Nov 12, 2012 7-a.m.<br \/>\nNDDOT &amp; NDHP have issued a No Travel Advisory for the West and<br \/>\nSouth Central portion of the state due to freezing rain causing<br \/>\nicy road conditions and hazardous travel. Cities included are<br \/>\nWilliston, Dickinson and Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>A Travel Alert has been issued for South Central North Dakota due<br \/>\nto freezing rain causing icy roads. Cities included are<br \/>\nJamestown and Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>No Travel Advised &#8211; Motorists should not travel due to hazardous<br \/>\nconditions which may make it unsafe to travel. A NO TRAVEL<br \/>\nADVISED has the potential to change to a ROAD CLOSED or BLOCKED<br \/>\nif conditions deteriorate.<\/p>\n<p>Travel Alert &#8211; Motorists can still travel, but may encounter<br \/>\nareas of challenging winter weather driving conditions on<br \/>\nroadways. A TRAVEL ALERT has the potential to change to a NO<br \/>\nTRAVEL ADVISED if conditions deteriorate<\/p>\n<p>The Medina and Crystal Springs rest areas on Interstate 94 west of Medina are open, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation. The rest areas had been closed due to a power outage.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u3000\u00a0Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session on Friday (Nov 9, 2012) at 1-p.m., at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Present were: Mayor Katie Andersen, City Attorney Ken Dalsted, City Engineer, Reed Schwartzkopf, City Administrator Jeff Fuchs, and all City Council members.<\/p>\n<p>The panel recessed into closed Executive Session, for the purpose of consulting with the City Attorney concerning territorial service claims by Stutsman Rural Water District.<\/p>\n<p>At issue is a claim by Stutsman Rural Water that Jamestown was expanding its water service into territory Stutsman Rural Water has rights to serve, in the area of the Titan Machinery facility under construction near Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>The area is in the one mile extraterritorial limits of the City of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Following the Executive Session the City Council reconvened the open public meeting, and it was adjourned by Mayor Andersen.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000The city and the Rural Water District may meet in public session on November 15, 2012, depending on if District members have their schedule free to meet that day.<\/p>\n<p>The open portion of the meeting was shown live on CSi Cable 67.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News (Nov 9, 2012) &#8211;\u00a0 The Jamestown City and Rural Fire departments were called out around 6:49 a.m. Friday&#8230; (Nov 9, 2012) to 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest, where a house was involved in flames.<\/p>\n<p>When the fire units arrived the structure was fully involved inflames were shooting through the roof of the older two story house.<\/p>\n<p>Both floors of the home were extensively damaged.<\/p>\n<p>City Fire Chief Jim Reuther said two fire fighters were injured. One had a knee injury and was treated at a clinic.<\/p>\n<p>Another fire fighter received a strained shoulder, and one city police officer fell on the ice. The extent of his injury was not known.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Joint Task Force of the City Fire Department, and the Jamestown Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Reuther says the City Fire Department cleared the scene about 11:20 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>While on scene, there the firefighters got a second fire call for a kitchen fire at 1108 6th Aveue Southeast at about 8:26-a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Rural Fire Department fire fighters along with a city fire department unit hopped in their trucks that were on the scene at the northwest house fire, and raced across town to that call, along with a city fire unit.<\/p>\n<p>The fire caused damage to the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Fire fighters pulled out the stove and refrigerator from the house, that were extensively scortched.<\/p>\n<p>An occupant of the home suffered a burn and an ambulance was called to the scene for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Reuther praised the Jamestown Rural Fire Department for their mutual aid as the pager unit at the Law Enforcement Center malfunctioned, and the City Fire Fighters were not able to be notified, that way.<\/p>\n<p>Instead each City Fire Fighter had to be called by phone for the notification to respond to the first fire.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was notified by pager, and were able to arrive on the scene more quickly, as the City Fire Fighters then began to arrive.<\/p>\n<p>The two fire departments were able to communicate with each other during the two fires, by patching into state radio.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Reuther says the pager equipment was being tested through the day on Friday. As of Friday afternoon the pager equipment was still not operational, with the City Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>Then at about 4:30-p.m., Friday the City Fire Department was called to a rekindle at the 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest location.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Kainz says, two pumper trucks and an equipment truck returned to knock down hot spots at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Then the City Fire Department was called back to 616 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Avenue, Northwest about 10:30-p.m. to put out more hot spots that flared up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u3000KCSi-T.V. News \u2013\u00a0 An Illinois man was killed and his passenger injured in a rollover accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports the accident happened\u00a0 Friday evening (Nov 9, 2012) about 6:30-p.m., on McIntosh County Highway 13.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The SUV operated by 55 year old, Thomas Mcfall from Cary, Illinois was westbound, enroute to Hague for a hunting trip, when the vehicle left the icy roadway, and entered the north ditch, and\u00a0 rolled ejecting the driver, who was dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0His 50 year old male passenger Stephen Peppa\u00a0from Barrington, Illinois was wearing a seat belt, and was injured.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0He was taken by Ashley Ambulance to Ashley Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The accident remain under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; A man suffered burns when he tried to<br \/>\nrescue his dog from a burning camper in Bismarck over the weekend.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the man was using a stove to keep warm in the camper<br \/>\nparked behind a hotel. They say he fell asleep and awoke to smoke<br \/>\nSaturday night. The man escaped but then went back inside to rescue<br \/>\nthe dog.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The dog was fine but police say \u00a0the man was taken to a hospital. His<br \/>\ncondition was not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo police say a truck found submerged in<br \/>\nthe Red River over the weekend belongs to North Dakota State<br \/>\nUniversity and is believed to have been stolen.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The discovery of the truck on Sunday morning prompted a search<br \/>\nfor possible occupants who didn&#8217;t make it out of the vehicle. No<br \/>\none was found.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say whoever took the truck probably just put it in gear<br \/>\nand let it travel down a hill into the water. The truck was in gear<br \/>\nand the keys were in the ignition when it was discovered.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it<br \/>\nwill crack down on seat belt violations in the western part of the<br \/>\nstate.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says troopers will be conducting a one-day<br \/>\nenforcement effort on Thursday as part of its &#8220;Click It or<br \/>\nTicket&#8221; campaign.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says more than half of the people killed in vehicle<br \/>\ncrashes this year were not wearing seat belts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The U.S. Small Business Administration is<br \/>\nmaking low-interest federal disaster loans available to small,<br \/>\nnonfarm businesses in more counties in the Dakotas.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The loans of up to $2 million are to offset losses due to<br \/>\ndrought in September and October.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The latest county to be declared eligible is the North Dakota<br \/>\ncounty of Sargent. The neighboring North Dakota counties of Dickey,<br \/>\nRansom and Richland, and the neighboring South Dakota counties of<br \/>\nBrown, Marshall and Roberts become automatically eligible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A group is pushing a citywide curbside<br \/>\nrecycling program for Bismarck.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Missouri Valley Resource Council plans to submit a petition on<br \/>\nTuesday to the Bismarck City Commission.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Scott Skokos says his group has collected 660 signatures in<br \/>\nfavor of curbside recycling. Skokos says the group favors curbside<br \/>\nrecycling because people would not have to drive to a recycling<br \/>\nsite. And he says recycling would increase the life of the city&#8217;s<br \/>\nlandfill.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck City Commissioner Mike Seminary says the commission<br \/>\nwill hold a public hearing on the plan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says he<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t have a timeline for choosing a new state public service<br \/>\ncommissioner.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Incumbent commissioner Kevin Cramer was elected to the U.S.<br \/>\nHouse last week. He says he&#8217;ll stay on the commission until the end<br \/>\nof the year.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commission regulates utilities, coal mining, pipelines,<br \/>\ngrain elevators, telecommunications and auctioneers.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It has three members. Cramer&#8217;s term has four years left to run.<br \/>\nThe person Dalrymple appoints will have to run for election in 2014<br \/>\nto keep the job.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commission will have two new members in January. One will be<br \/>\nCramer&#8217;s replacement. The second is Hazen Republican state Sen.<br \/>\nRandy Christmann.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christmann was elected to the PSC last week.
