Jamestown (CSi) Stutsman County Relay for Life is set for Friday June 5, 2015, starting at 2-p.m., and going until 2-a.m., on Saturday June 6th, <\/sup>at the University of Jamestown\u2019s Taylor Stadium.<\/p>\n

Co-Chair, Pam Phillips says, opening ceremonies will be at 6-p.m., Friday.<\/p>\n

Returning this year as a fundraiser is the “Miss Relay Contest,” where men dress up as women, and votes for favorites are donations to Relay for Life.<\/p>\n

Luminaries will be set up along the track, along with reading of names.<\/p>\n

This year, on Friday evening, the scheduled the North Dakota Fire Fighters Association State Convention, parade featuring “Vivian The Pink Fire Truck,” and the Aberdeen Pipes & Drum Corps, will do one lap around the stadium track to honor an Association past-president who passed away this last year from cancer, and as a tribute to fire fighters who have passed away.<\/p>\n

Proceeds to to help fund breast & cervical cancer screenings through the local Women\u2019s Way Resource Fund & the Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Benefits continue to be scheduled for Shawn Durfee who was involved in a motorcycle-car accident in Jamestown that led to a below-the-knee amputation on his left leg.<\/p>\n

On the afternoon of April 28, 2015, 40 year-old Shawn Durfee was struck by a car while driving his motorcycle on First Avenue North in Jamestown receiving extensive injuries to his left leg and wrist.<\/p>\n

After treatment in Jamestown, he was airlifted to a Fargo hospital where he has undergone several surgeries and many more will be required.<\/p>\n

The Individual Motorcycle Club and Dennis Barton from the FM Crusaders Motorcycle Club have set up a benefit bike ride<\/strong> that will be held June 6, 2015<\/strong> and begins in Jamestown. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Corner Bar. The cost for the bike ride is $20 per driver and $10 for a passenger, and will begin at noon at the Corner Bar in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The route will be to Courtenay, Glenfield, Hannaford, Dazey and Sanborn before returning to the Corner Bar in Jamestown. A hog roast, a pool tournament and a live and silent auction have also been planned for that day.<\/p>\n

Donations for the bike ride can be mailed to FM Crusaders MC, PO Box 635, Jamestown, ND 58402.<\/p>\n

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) – A West Fargo man is accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 According to online court records, Matthew Derek Kriedeman pleaded not guilty in Stutsman County Wednesday to two charges of felony gross sexual imposition.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Each charge carries a potential life sentence.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Kriedeman assaulted the boy and girl between August and December of last year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A message seeking comment was sent to an attorney listed as representing Kriedeman.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System and the state Retirement and Investment Office can operate under current budget guidelines.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature adjourned in April before resolving the agencies’ more than $13 million spending bill that affects public employee benefits.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem says in a written opinion issued Thursday that the agencies may still operate under their current budget that ends June 30. But he says “any expenditure of funds must be done prudently.”
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature couldn’t agree on a measure meant to ensure public employees keep the same health coverage when their insurer changes in a month.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A committee is slated to meet Monday to try to negotiate a compromise. If an agreement is reached, the Legislature could reconvene June 16 to pass the measure.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Supporters of a Red River diversion project say the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is inventing reasons to oppose a related upstream ring dike project.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal judge has halted construction of the levee south of Fargo until the DNR completes its environmental study of the diversion. The Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Authority is appealing the decision.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawyers for the diversion authority say in court documents that the DNR is not exercising its policies “in an evenhanded way.” It says the agency’s recent complaint about the width of the levee is a rationalization that does not affect Minnesota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The authority’s lawyers also deny accusations by diversion opponents that levee construction continued after the injunction. The authority says it is performing erosion control work on previously constructed portions of the dike.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Federal prosecutors have added an additional count against a man who was featured in a documentary in the North Dakota oil patch and now faces sex trafficking and drug charges.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An updated indictment charges Keith Graves with seven counts of sex trafficking by force or coercion, or one count for each alleged victim. He also is charged with obstruction, distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents accuse Graves of beating some of his victims and forcing at least one woman to perform sex acts on him.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Graves was one of the main subjects in “The Overnighters,” which won the special jury award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. It followed a Lutheran pastor who opened his Williston church to oil workers with nowhere to stay.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota State College of Science President John Richman says the expansion of a regional college affiliation will benefit not only students but also the business economy.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tri-College University was founded 45 years ago to combine course offerings from North Dakota State University, Concordia College and what is now Minnesota State University Moorhead. An expansion announced last week will add the College of Science in Wahpeton and Minnesota State Community and Technical College, in Moorhead, Minnesota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agreement includes an exchange program that allows undergraduate students to take courses at any of the Tri-College campuses without paying additional fees.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Richman\u00a0says \u00a0the expansion also will benefit relocating or expanding businesses in need of workers. He says, “having 35,000 available students is a plus.”<\/p>\n

DOVER, Del. (AP) – Delaware residents have gathered at the state Capitol to pay their respects to former Attorney General Beau Biden. The eldest son of Vice President Joe Biden died of brain cancer Saturday at age 46. Beau Biden lay in honor in the state Senate chamber following a processional from Wilmington to Dover. His father and other family members stood in a receiving line, greeting well-wishers.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TOBYHANNA, Pa. (AP) – An Italian tourist on his honeymoon has been identified as one of three victims of a deadly crash involving a tour bus and a tractor-trailer in eastern Pennsylvania Wednesday. The bus driver and another passenger, also from Italy, were also killed. State police say it will take time to know why the tractor-trailer was in the path of the charter bus, which was headed to Niagara Falls.

According to the study, global warming hasn’t stopped or even slowed in the past 18 years. Government scientists readjusted thousands of weather data points to account for different measuring techniques. And they concluded that since 1998, the rate of warming has been about the same as it’s been since 1950.\u00a0

They performed the world’s first partial skull and scalp transplant, to help a man who suffered a large head wound from cancer treatment. The operation was performed two weeks ago. The patient, 55-year-old Jim Boysen, is leaving the hospital Thursday with a new kidney and pancreas along with the scalp and skull grafts.
