Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 \u00a0The city of Valley City is asking residents to reduce sewage flow\u00a0 as crews work on the master lift station.<\/p>\n

\u00a0KLJ’s\u00a0\u00a0n Eric Gilbertson said residents should reduce their sewage flow\u00a0Thursday evening, June 11, 2015. Work is being performed on the city\u2019s force main, a part of the master lift station. Once again city officials are asking residents to reduce sewage flow tonight\u00a0 in Valley City.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Engineer’s Office reports that fogging operations in the City of Jamestown for adult mosquitoes is scheduled to begin tonight, Thursday, June 11, 2015<\/span> and will continue throughout the weekend<\/span>.<\/p>\n

All fogging operations are contingent upon weather conditions. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

All fogging operations will take place between approximately 8:30 PM (dusk) until approximately 6:00 AM.<\/p>\n

Parents are advised to keep children out of the streets and away from the fogging machines.<\/p>\n

Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of the fogging units.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) Board of Directors has set two Public Input Forums, to give the final details for the interior design of the Two Rivers Activity Center.<\/p>\n

The public forums. June 23, 2015 and July 8, 2015 at 7-p.m.,locations to be decided later.<\/p>\n

At the Forums, will be Zerr Berg Architects, Principal Architect Brian Berg.<\/p>\n

The next five to six weeks will be spent reviewing the basic plan and developing a schematic design, which includes conceptual plans and floor plans for the project but not detailed designs or specifications.<\/p>\n

Possible public input may be included in the schematic design. After review and approval from the TRAC Board and Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission, the architect and engineers would move on to the design development stage where more detailed plans are developed by the beginning of September.<\/p>\n

The architect would then develop construction documents through the winter with the project going for bids in January 2016 and construction starting in May 2016.<\/p>\n

The TRAC Board and Jamestown Parks and Recreation will choose a three- or four-person building committee to meet with the architect every two weeks during the planning process.<\/p>\n

Zerr Berg Architects will also assist Parks and Recreation in developing the interview process to select an engineering firm to assist in the management of the construction project.<\/p>\n

Jamestown voters approved a 1 percent sales tax to pay for construction of TRAC on June 2. The $28.6 million facility will serve as a community and activity center. TRAC will include basketball courts, weight rooms, an exercise track, pool and water features and an indoor turf field under a dome.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Arts Center, Director, Cyndi Wish said, the display is from the North Dakota Museum of Arts Permanent Collection by artists who create images and constructions about wood or include wood as their Material.<\/p>\n

Visitors will see photography, sculpture, wood-fired ceramics, wood block prints, plus work for the Museum\u2019s new African collection.<\/p>\n

She also pointed out that the Arts Center will host The New York Kammermusiker on Wednesday July 1, 2015 at 6-p.m.<\/p>\n

The ensemble has traveled extensively throughout the world, combing a repertoire ranging from early Renaissance through Contemporary, with an informal stage mannor.<\/p>\n

Prior to the concert, from 3-p.m., to 5-p.m., at the Arts Center, local musicians, students, and historians can converse with the NYK about the group, try the double-reed instruments, and learn what makes them unique, and a type of music not widely practiced in the region.<\/p>\n

The evening performance will begin with a conversation between musicians and audience, followed by musical performance.<\/p>\n

Tickets at the door are $10 for Arts Center member, $15 for non-members, and young people age 18 and under will be admitted free.<\/p>\n

Cyndi reminded that the Mini Art Hunt will take place during White Cloud Days, Saturday July 11th<\/sup> and Sunday the 12th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Four sets of visual clues in the form of photos to each artwork\u2019s hiding place will be made public on Saturday July 11th<\/sup> at 10-a.m., and 3-p.m., and Sunday the 12th<\/sup> at 10-a.m., and 3-p.m. All art work will be hidden in plain sight.<\/p>\n

12 unique mini-art works by visual artist, William Hessian will be hidden throughout Jamestown Parks..<\/p>\n

\u3000SAWYER, N.D. (AP) – The superintendent and high school principal in Sawyer accused of felony sex crimes involving a 15-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fifty-year-old Charles Soper pleaded not guilty on Thursday to human trafficking, corruption or solicitation of minors and luring minors by computer. He could face life in prison without parole if convicted.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police allege Soper developed a sexual relationship with the boy last fall and that it continued into this spring, when the boy disclosed details to officers. Investigators seized computers from Soper’s home.

\n49-year-old Rodney Friesz wants to suppress all evidence obtained from the scene of the alleged crime, saying police entered the residence without consent or a warrant.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Friesz has pleaded not guilty to murder and arson in the Oct. 9 slaying of 62-year-old Gene Jassmann. Authorities allege Friesz shot Jassmann in the head with a .22-caliber rifle after the two argued, then lit the home on fire.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The spill was discovered on June 4. Officials say about a quarter cup of mercury was spilled but they don’t know the source.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Two pesticide inspectors in North Dakota’s Agriculture Department are becoming federally certified in the wake of a federal audit concluding a lapse in acceptable inspections in the state might have put the public at risk.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the federal certification is aimed only at enabling the state to help with inspections at the U.S.-Canada border. He maintains that inspections of in-state pesticide facilities handled by his office exceed federal standards.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The February report was done by the Environmental Protection Agency’s independent investigative arm, the Office of Inspector General. It said North Dakota facilities that deal with pesticides haven’t been federally inspected for years, possibly endangering the public.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Teachers from four states are headed to North Dakota coal country.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Lignite Energy Council says more than 120 elementary and secondary teachers from the Dakotas, Minnesota and Montana are slated to attend a seminar next week on how the coal known as lignite is mined and used to produce energy in the four-state region.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Lignite Energy Council says it has been offering the seminar for 30 years. It includes a tour of a mine, power plant and the Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Former University of North Dakota shortstop Tyler Follis has been drafted by the Colorado Rockies.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Follis was selected in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball draft, the 827th overall pick. He’s the first UND player drafted since 2000, when Matt Mahoney was selected in the 48th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Follis is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound standout from Bemidji, Minnesota. He broke UND’s single-season and career hit marks during his senior season. He had 76 hits during the year, and 240 for his college career.

\u00a0DANNEMORA, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities in northern New York state may have good reason to believe that two prison escapees are still in the area near the maximum-security prison from which they escaped. According to a person close to the investigation, they believe a prison employee had agreed to be the getaway driver — but she never showed up. The manhunt is still focused in some woods only a few miles from the prison. Police have already said that Joyce Mitchell — an instructor at the prison tailor shop where the two convicts worked — was being questioned, and that she “may have had some role” in helping the convicts.

(AP) – The former girlfriend of Colorado movie theater gunman James Holmes has finished testifying — after a cross-examination by the defense that seemed aimed at humanizing Holmes. Gargi Datta (gar-gee DA’-tah) says Holmes wanted to settle down and talked about buying a house in the Denver area, but she says she wasn’t ready for that. She earlier said Holmes wanted a more serious relationship than she did — and that it’s why they stopped spending time together three months before the attack.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NAPLES, Italy (AP) – The Pentagon’s top general says the reach of the U.S. military could extend even further into Iraq if the campaign against the Islamic State group gains momentum. And Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is holding out the possibility of recommending to President Barack Obama that U.S. troops take on the riskier role of calling in airstrikes. He hasn’t yet recommended that move, which would put U.S. troops closer to the battlefield. Critics of the current U.S. approach say that’s overdue.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 AMMAN, Jordan (AP) – The daughter of Tariq Aziz, Saddam Hussein’s former top aide who died last week in prison in Iraq, says her father’s body has gone missing after it was snatched in Baghdad while on its way to Jordan for burial. She says she was told by her mother in Iraq that the body disappeared at the Baghdad airport Thursday. Aziz died last Friday in the prison to which he had been sent to await execution. Iraqi officials say he died of heart attack.

A local official has blamed the foreigners — and what he called their “disrespect to the sacred mountain” — for causing a deadly earthquake at the mountain on Friday.
