Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 South central and Southeast North Dakota slowly dries out from heavy rain from the weekend.<\/p>\n

On Saturday evening the event began in Jamestown and the area with thunderstorms that trained through early Sunday morning.\u00a0 Some pea size hail occurred around midnight Saturday in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

On Saturday The National Weather Service recorded .40 inches of rain, while the CSi Weather computer, downtown at Historic Franklin School recorded 1.61 inches.<\/p>\n

The rain continued Sunday until late morning with a Flood Warning issued until 12:30 pm for\u00a0 Southwest Stutsman and Northeastern Kidder County, that received 5-6 inches of rain.\u00a0 On Sunday, the official rainfall total was 1.97 inches, while the CSi Weather computer registered 1.88 inches.<\/p>\n

The James River in Jamestown rose from four and a half feet\u00a0 on Saturday afternoon to 6.36 feet on Sunday morning.\u00a0 This morning the river had dropped to 5.26 feet.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u2019s official two day total was 1.34 \u00a0inches at of 7-am Monday.<\/p>\n

The Sheyenne River in Valley City rose from just under 6 feet Friday morning to 6.15 feet Sunday morning.\u00a0 On Monday morning the level was at 6.14 feet.<\/p>\n

The forecast for Monday is sunny, with a return to rain possibly heavy on Tuesday afternoon and evening, continuing into Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0\u00a0Over 100\u00a0 Cass County Electric\u00a0 customers were without power for more than two your Sunday on the east side of Lake Ashtabula. The outage happened around 9-am and power was restored shortly after 11-am.<\/p>\n

Cass County Electric Spokeswoman Trudy Wanner\u00a0says \u00a0the outage was caused by a tree falling on a power line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society welcomes the public to the Open House July 18, 2015, from 10 am to 2 pm,<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, JRHS President Matt Opsahl said, there will be a grill out, face painting, air games, a dog-kissing contest, and there will be a reduced fee on animal adoptions that day.<\/p>\n

Opsahl added that cook books for the fundraiser should be ready to purchase in July, at $30 per cook book.<\/p>\n

As always, the shelter is accepting donations of rawhides, cleaning supplies, treats, and toys. Volunteers are especially needed during the summer months, including dog walkers.<\/p>\n

He said the shelter current has 20 cats and 14 dogs available for adoption.<\/p>\n

He thanked those who attended recent the pancake feed fundraiser, at Applebee\u2019s, which raised about $200.<\/p>\n

The James River Humane Society is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit.<\/p>\n

\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 26-year-old Killdeer man was killed and three people were injured in a head-on crash in western North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says the crash happened Sunday night on Highway 22, about two miles north of Dickinson.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Troopers say a man was killed after his Toyota Corolla veered into the southbound lane of the highway, hitting a Mercedes Benz head-on. A 17-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was injured and taken to a Dickinson hospital.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says the 25-year-old driver of the Mercedes and his 21-year-old female passenger also were injured and taken to a local hospital.<\/p>\n

\u00a0GRASS RANGE, Mont. (AP) – A single-vehicle rollover in central Montana has claimed the life of a 44-year-old North Dakota man.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Montana Highway Patrol says the accident occurred about 3 p.m. Friday on U.S. 87 near Grass Range, east of Lewistown.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jensen was driving the vehicle westbound when it drifted off the right side of the road, causing him to overcorrect and send the car into a spin.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Great Falls Tribune reports that the car then struck a culvert, went airborne and rolled several times.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A 15-year-old female passenger was injured and taken to Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown. An 8-year-old boy was not injured. Information on the girl’s condition was not immediately available.<\/p>\n

\nPolice responded to four robberies over a 12-hour period on Sunday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the robberies were reported at Budget Music and Video, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lowe’s Garden Center, and Trinity Evangelical Free Church.

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – State data show the number of oil drilling rigs in North Dakota is at the lowest level since 2009.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Department of Mineral Resources says there were 75 rigs drilling in western North Dakota’s oil patch on Monday. That’s 112 fewer than one year ago. There were 214 rigs drilling on the same day in 2012.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 drop occurs as companies are pumping less crude amid oil prices that have plummeting more than 40 percent since last year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms predicted last month that production would hover around 1 million barrels a day until prices rebound.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – The state Transportation Department says two lanes of a truck bypass in Williston are open.<\/p>\n

Officials tell the Williston Herald that the Northwest Truck Reliever Route is intended to ease traffic congestion in the city and make driving safer.<\/p>\n

The lanes were open on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Williston Mayor Howard Klug says the route to divert truck traffic away from town will cost the state about $162 million.<\/p>\n

Work on the southbound lanes of the route is expected to be completed in August.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Revisions to a proposed ordinance regulating mobile vendors in Bismarck would move the businesses off city streets to designated areas.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The change would move food trucks and other vendors to certain alleys and parking lots in the downtown area.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supporters of the revised ordinance say the change is needed because 90-minute parking restrictions during the day make it difficult for the vendors to operate. Some people also complained about the trucks and equipment being left overnight.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A public hearing on the ordinance will be held later this month.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Marijuana companies in California and Colorado have tabbed prominent American Indian leaders from the Dakotas to help prod tribes across the nation into the pot business.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tex Hall, the former chairman of the oil-rich Three Affiliated Tribes, and Robert Shepherd, former chairman of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate tribe that straddles both states, are trying to recruit and assist tribes in producing high-grade marijuana products.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With 566 federally recognized Indian tribes in the United States, the potential revenue for marijuana businesses is big. But Shepherd says many native leaders remain skeptical.

\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The state tax commissioner is reminding North Dakotans that June 30 is the deadline to apply for a refund of fuel taxes paid in 2014 on gasoline and gasohol bought to power farm, ranch, and industrial equipment used off-road.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fuel purchased for use by an emergency medical services operation also qualifies for a refund.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Taxes collected on motor fuels go toward highway maintenance. State Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger (RAW’-shuhn-bur-gur) says state law provides for the refund because construction and farm equipment typically doesn’t operate on public highways.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fuel used in vehicles designed for use on public roads is not eligible for the refund.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Federal health officials have awarded $1 million to the state of North Dakota to provide family planning services.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says the North Dakota Department of Health will receive the funds to provide assistance statewide.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The federal funds are meant to be used to assist women and men understand and take responsibility for their reproductive health through education, counseling and medical services.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heitkamp says it is “crucial” that individuals have access to family planning services and resources that they need. She adds that “supporting health care programs that are committed to serving North Dakota’s families positively impacts our communities.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The funds have been authorized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Miss Grand Forks is moving on to represent North Dakota at the 2015 Miss America Pageant later this year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Delanie Wiedrich, a native of Hazen, was named Miss North Dakota on Saturday night at Williston High School. She’ll compete in the national pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sept. 13.

\nWiedrich is a student at Minnesota State University, Mankato and received a $17,500 scholarship for winning the title.
\n\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency says people using recreational areas should put trash in the proper receptacles, or take it home with them if garbage cans are full or not available. The department says it’s not unusual to see trash stacked up around full garbage cans.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Sen. John Hoeven says the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing opening four wildlife refuges for sport fishing in the Devils Lake area.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The proposed rule would allow sport fishing for the first time at the Ardoch National Wildlife Refuge, the Lake Alice National Wildlife Refuge, the Rose Lake National Wildlife Refuge and the Silver Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
