\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Violent thunderstorms passed through central North Dakota for the second time in three days, leaving behind damage in New Salem.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Winds gusting up to 90 mph were reported in the Morton County town on Sunday night. The National Weather Service said large tree limbs were knocked down, and heavy rains caused street flooding. Pea- to nickel-size hail also fell in the county.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cleanup continues in the Bismarck-Mandan area after a severe storm on Friday night that knocked out electricity to more than 10,000 people. Montana-Dakota Utilities spokesman Tim Rasmussen\u00a0 says power had been restored to most residents by Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the weekend….thunderstorms with high winds and hail– and even a tornado — continued to pop up in the region into Saturday night causing damage as unstable air covered the region.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks said a tornado touched down Saturday afternoon in northeast North Dakota about seven miles east of Cando around 4:10 p.m. There were no reports of serious damage.<\/p>\n

Another storm that hit farther south near Cooperstown with almost ping-pong sized hail moved southeast and its estimated 60 mph winds knocked down a 50-foot tree near Morton — just west of Wahpeton — and was accompanied by large hail early Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol\u00a0reports \u00a0a\u00a0 motorcycle\u00a0– pickup,trailer accident on\u00a0 I-94, near Jamestown,\u00a0Saturday just before 5-p.m.<\/p>\n

59 year old Lawrence Doll, of Fargo was\u00a0heading westbound when he made an improper turn on a crossover west of the Highway 281 exit. Two other riders slowed and drove onto the left shoulder to avoid a collision. 60 year old Michael Jones of Dickinson, was in the process of merging and was unable to avoid collision with the motorcycle.<\/p>\n

Doll\u2019s motorcycle slid onto its left side and came to rest on the left lane. Doll was thrown from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet, but he did have protective clothing. He suffered some scuffs and bruising and was able to walk off the driving lane.<\/p>\n

Neither Jones nor his 58 year old passenger Kin Jones of\u00a0 Dickinson were injured.<\/p>\n

He was cited for care required.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.\u00a0 The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a pickup –\u00a0 bicycle accident, Sunday about 3:40 p.m. on Highway 30, one mile south of Streeter.<\/p>\n

55 year old Michael Dean of Gackle was riding his mountain bike southbound along the right edge of the southbound lane.\u00a0 41 year old Shane Dockter, of Streeter was also southbound and approached from the rear and struck Dean with the right side of the Chevrolet pickup.\u00a0 Dean was wearing a helmet when he was thrown from the bike into the west ditch.\u00a0 Dockter slowed and stopped on the shoulder of the road.<\/p>\n

No report of Dean\u2019s injury, as he was taken to JRMC for treatment.<\/p>\n

Damage was reported to the front of the bike, with minimal damage to the pickup.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol, assisted by the Stutsman County Sheroff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Engineer’s Office, reminds residents of work going on this week.
\nOn Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 5th<\/sup> Ave SE, between 2nd<\/sup> St & 3rd<\/sup> St SE<\/b>, will be closed to traffic, due to utility work. The work is expected to be completed and the street is expected to be re-opened to traffic late in the day on Friday, June 26th<\/sup> 2015. The work and anticipated street closure schedule are contingent upon weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Motorists and other traffic should use extreme caution when entering road construction areas. The public should consider alternate routes if possible.<\/p>\n

City crews will begin<\/b> flushing fire hydrants this week beginning approximately on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.<\/p>\n

Crews will start flushing in the SE & SW areas of the City and continue the work during normal working hours until completed.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) This morning the 46th annual Fort Seward Wagon Train leaves for its weeklong trip, of 68 miles.<\/p>\n

A welcome was held Sunday, as about 150 participants from 16 states and three countries will climb aboard 10 wagons, that includes volunteer riders, drivers, cooks, medics and entertainers.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The poultry show at this year\u2019s Stutsman County Fair will be missing this year.<\/p>\n

The fair runs July 1-4, 2015, in Jamestown,and the poultry show, was cancelled to prevent potential exposure to H5 avian influenza virus and possibly spreading it to otherwise healthy farms.<\/p>\n

The poultry show has members of 4-H throughout the county exhibit their prized hens and roosters.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Stutsman County Fair Board, President, Mike Willians says, the cancellation is disappointing, but there would be plenty of other animal exhibits to attend. The birds should be back next year.<\/p>\n

Extension agent, Family and Consumer Sciences division of the North Dakota State University Extension Service in Stutsman County, Chirstina Rittenback adds the decision to cancel the 4-H program poultry exhibition at state and county fairs was made prior to the state Board of Animal Health decision to add fair events to the movement ban.<\/p>\n

The Board of Animal Health press release noted that it is continuing to monitor.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Formal charges are pending against a 21-year-old Minot man who allegedly shot a woman during a domestic violence incident.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the woman was taken to a hospital after the shooting shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday and is recovering.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man was arrested and jailed on an aggravated assault charge.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WALHALLA, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have identified a Minnesota man who died when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a deer in northeastern North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Kenneth Letexier, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, died Friday night after the crash on a Pembina County road about 1\u00a0 1\/2 miles east of Walhalla.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A passenger on the motorcycle was taken to a Grand Forks hospital with what the patrol said were serious injuries.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A magistrate judge says a North Dakota woman jailed on a federal escape charge cannot be released to help care for her son.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jessica Bailey, of Fort Totten, was arrested last fall after she failed to report to a halfway house in Devils Lake to continue her sentence for embezzlement and theft. She is scheduled for a plea hearing next month on the escape charge.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bailey proposed a release plan to U.S. Magistrate Judge Alice Senechal and testified that her mother, who works for the public defender’s office in Fort Totten, is willing to act as a third-party custodian.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Senechal said in an order denying the request that Bailey has a poor record of compliance with previous release orders “despite repeated opportunities allowed to her.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0HORACE, N.D. (AP) – The nonprofit Farm Rescue is getting a large donation from the Otto Bremer Foundation.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The donation totals $150,000 over two years and will be used for general operations.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota-based group assists family farmers in the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa and eastern Montana. Crews with the nonprofit set up camp on the farms of injured or ill farmers, doing their planting or harvesting work rather than handing out money. The group also assists farmers who have been victims of natural disasters.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Volunteers help the farmers plant and harvest up to 1,000 acres of crops free of charge.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Public Service Commission has slated a public hearing in Stanley to take comments on a new crude oil pipeline.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The hearing for the Bison Pipeline Project is being held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Stanley City Hall.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Plains Pipeline is proposing the 10-mile-long, 8-inch diameter oil pipeline that’s designed to transport about 15,000 barrels of crude daily.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The $9 million pipeline would originate at about eight miles northeast of New Town and extend southward to connect with the company’s rail facility about five miles east of New Town.

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Hospital Association President Jerry Jurena says the state’s population growth and good economy have increased the attractiveness of hospital partnerships and buyouts.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jurena\u00a0says \u00a0North Dakota previously has lacked the population base to generate much interest in hospital acquisitions by outside groups.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jurena says now those outside groups are giving North Dakota hospitals another look because of the increase in the volume of medical services.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There have been big changes in the hospital landscape in Fargo and Bismarck in recent years. The latest change is in Minot, where Trinity Health announced earlier this month that it’s becoming part of Montana-based Billings Clinic RegionalCare.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Cost Share Program is accepting applications.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The program helps producers and processors of organic food pay their certification costs. North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says they can receive up to $750 of the costs paid between Oct. 1, 2014, and Sept. 30 of this year. Applications are due Nov. 16.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Certification enables organic producers and processors to label and sell their products with a federal seal that assures consumers the products were produced using recognized organic methods.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Angels in Adoption was established in 1999 by the Congressional Coalition of Adoption Institute to raise awareness about the importance of adoption.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Angels can be adoptive parents, foster parents, a social worker, attorney, adoptee, physician, nurse, teacher, mentor, or child advocate that has made a difference in the lives of children through adoption, foster care or child welfare advocacy.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Transportation Department plans to begin mowing the top cut along shoulders of state highways within the next few weeks, as weather allows.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The agency says adjacent landowners who plan to mow non-interstate ditches for hay should cut the top before the state mows those areas.

The Jamestown Public School Board, Monday evening accepted the resignation of High School football coach Tim Fletcher.<\/p>\n

Fletcher and his family will be moving to Bismarck because of a career advancement.<\/p>\n

Fletcher led Jamestown to a 12-15 record in three years, and went 2-7 in his first season.<\/p>\n

Fletcher led the Blue Jays to their first playoff trip in six years in 2013, falling to eventual-state champion Fargo South in the Class AAA state quarterfinals and finishing 6-4.<\/p>\n

Fletcher, the defensive coordinator under previous coach Bill Cahill, over-saw one of Class AAA’s best defenses the past two years, finishing in the top five in the state in points-per-game allowed.<\/p>\n
