(AP) &#8211; The National Weather Service says its<\/p>\n<p>Doppler radar in Bismarck has been shut down for an upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The installation of dual-polarization Doppler is part of a $50<\/p>\n<p>million upgrade to radar systems nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The major advantage is the ability to distinguish the shape and<\/p>\n<p>size of objects in the air.<\/p>\n<p>Forecasters say it can help them predict flash floods and determine the difference between rain and snow when it is near 32 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the radar will be down no longer than two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 19, 2012) &#8212; The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called out about 7-p.m. Wednesday to<\/p>\n<p>3432 82nd Avenue. Southeast.<\/p>\n<p>Wood, broken fences, debris and an exterior wall caught fire.<\/p>\n<p>Rural Fire Chief Rick Woehl says no cause of the fire has been determined but may have been electrical in nature, starting an outdated building at that site.<\/p>\n<p>16 rural firefighters and seven units was on scene for about an hour and a half.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 18, 2012) &#8212; The North Dakota Highway Patrol has received the results of a blood sample taken from Wyatt Klein of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The report, provided by the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s Crime Laboratory, revealed that Klein\u2019s blood alcohol was 0.25, over three times higher than the legal limit of .08.<\/p>\n<p>On July 6, Klein was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-94 near Crystal Springs and struck a vehicle head-on.<\/p>\n<p>This vehicle was driven by Aaron Deutscher of West Fargo. Deutscher, his wife Allison and daughter Brielle were killed as a result of the crash. Klein also died in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Highway Patrol says, fifty-one percent of all 2012 North Dakota fatal crashes have been attributed to alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>The Patrol says, all alcohol-related crashes and fatalities are preventable.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s taxable sales and purchases<\/p>\n<p>shot up 52 percent during January, February and March when compared<\/p>\n<p>to the same three months a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>North Dakota&#8217;s Tax Department says the state recorded $5.3<\/p>\n<p>billion in taxable sales and purchases during the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Cory Fong says taxable sales and purchases almost<\/p>\n<p>doubled over last year in the oil and mining sector alone.<\/p>\n<p>Construction went up 113 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Fong says almost all of North Dakota&#8217;s economic sectors are<\/p>\n<p>growing.<\/p>\n<p>Fong says of North Dakota&#8217;s largest cities, 40 of them showed<\/p>\n<p>double- or triple-digit percentage growth during the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>North Dakota already has one of the nation&#8217;s lowest unemployment<\/p>\n<p>rates. (AP) &#8211; Officials say a hiker from Virginia was found dead Wednesday at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The National Park Service says searchers located the body of 48-year-old Dan Olszewski, of Midlothian, Va., late Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Agency spokeswoman Eileen Andes says an autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say Olszewski went hiking in the park on Sunday morning. He was reported missing by his employer Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The agency says Olszewski was from Virginia but had been in North Dakota working.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Fargo woman is accused of exposing her 1-year-old child to methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p>A police report says Amber Marie Helps was keeping the child in a filthy apartment with rotting food and sacks of garbage.<\/p>\n<p>Helps has been charged with child neglect and abuse.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Bismarck police cited two teenage boys for breaking into a vehicle after one of the boys&#8217; mother turned in a handgun she found in her son&#8217;s dresser.<\/p>\n<p>A woman brought a handgun to the police department Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u3000DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Dickinson insurance agent is accused of<\/p>\n<p>stealing $30,000 from a customer three years ago to buy gold coins<\/p>\n<p>and make a payment on his credit card.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Biggs is charged with five felonies. The most serious<\/p>\n<p>carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. He and his attorney<\/p>\n<p>wouldn&#8217;t comment on the case.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm ordered<\/p>\n<p>Biggs to quit selling insurance in North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs was in court Wednesday. Southwest District Judge Zane Anderson ordered him<\/p>\n<p>not to leave North Dakota without permission.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents say Biggs obtained two checks from his<\/p>\n<p>customer&#8217;s savings account in September 2009.<\/p>\n<p>One $23,000 check went for a credit card payment.
