They raped a developmentally disabled teenager who was sleeping in the bedroom<\/p>\n<p>Conviction Date: February 11, 2003 at Shelby County District Court, in Tennessee. Disposition: 8 years.<\/p>\n<p>Gant is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and probation.<\/p>\n<p>Gant is not wanted by police at this time, and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety, and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender. This would allow the airport to come off of our government subsidy as provided by the Essential Air Service (EAS) program, and allow multiple air carriers to multiply destinations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The letter goes on to say, &#8220;However our current short-term focus is to achieve a 10,000 passenger per year threshold which would award Jamestown with an additional $850,000 per year of government funding. This federal money would be used for Capital Improvement Projects that increase safety and improve operational efficiency of our airport. We are currently on track to reach between 7,000 and 8,000 passengers this year.&#8221; (2015).<\/p>\n<p>The letter says, for Denver travelers, the cost of a round-trip from Jamestown is $222. North Dakota State University President Dean Bresciani will make $354,568.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Minot State&#8217;s Steven Shirley is the third-highest paid president at $257,500, followed by Dickinson State&#8217;s D.C. (AP) &#8211; Some members of the North Dakota Board of Higher Education say one way to cut down on expenses would be to hold more meetings remotely instead of in person.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Board member Don Morton, who works as the site leader at Microsoft in Fargo, is proposing that the board hold four face-to-face meetings a year and conduct other business by electronic means.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Board member Grant Shaft says it&#8217;s a good idea but the university system doesn&#8217;t yet have the technology to make it work. He says the current call-in system that the board uses is akin to Morse code.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eric Murphy, faculty adviser to the board, is opposed to the plan. He says it&#8217;s important for board members to visit the campuses on a regular basis to see what&#8217;s going on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo police say a man accused of killing two people at separate apartments less than a day apart didn&#8217;t know the second victim, who was bludgeoned to death after he opened his door.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors on Wednesday charged 35-year-old Ashley Hunter with two counts of murder in the deaths of 45-year-old Clarence Flowers and 25-year-old Samuel Traut. It wasn&#8217;t immediately clear if Hunter had an attorney.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Hunter was acquainted with Flowers, who was stabbed to death in his apartment Monday afternoon. Hunter didn&#8217;t know Traut, who lived in an apartment building directly behind Hunter&#8217;s residence.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Hunter was a methamphetamine user and that may have been a factor in the random attack.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel says Traut &#8220;met a tragic end by simply opening his door.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former U.S. Marine Corps recruiter has been sentenced to 2 years in prison after admitting to setting several small fires at his workplace in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Anthony DeGroot on Wednesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DeGroot pleaded guilty to destruction of government property in March. His plea came about a month after Hovland declared a mistrial because jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision on whether to convict DeGroot of arson.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Federal authorities had planned on retrying DeGroot, who was charged in January 2014 with setting the fires in December 2013, causing about $30,000 in damage.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DeGroot&#8217;s plea agreement states that after setting the fires, he duct-taped his wrists and mouth, walked out of the building pretending to be injured, and told police he was assaulted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The attorney for an Idaho man convicted of killing a man outside of a strip club in the western North Dakota oil patch hub of Williston says the jury in the case unfairly inferred intent on the part of his client.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attorney Scott Diamond told the North Dakota Supreme Court on Tuesday that Jonathan Horvath never intended to kill 28-year-old Derrick Spiegel of Williston. Horvath had moved to Williston from Sandpoint, Idaho, to find work in the oil patch.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Horvath is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole for the March 2013 shooting death. (AP) &#8211; A federal judge in Minnesota says he won&#8217;t lift an order that halts construction of a ring dike project until the completion of an environmental review on a planned Red River diversion project in the Fargo area.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge John Tunheim last month put levee construction near Oxbow on hold until the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources completes its study on the proposed $2 billion diversion channel. He had 29 victories during the season, tops in the nation and second-most in UND single-season history.<\/p>\n<p>In world and national news&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>BOSTON (AP) &#8211; A federal judge has formally sentenced Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR&#8217; tsahr-NEYE&#8217;-ehv) to death for the 2013 terror attacks. U.S. District Judge George O&#8217;Toole says no one will remember that Tsarnaev&#8217;s teachers or friends were fond of him. He says what they will remember is that Tsarnaev &#8220;murdered and maimed innocent people&#8221; and &#8220;did it willfully and intentionally.&#8221; Tsarnaev looked down and rubbed his hands together as the judge sentenced him.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BOSTON (AP) &#8211; For the first time, the surviving Boston Marathon bomber has apologized publicly. Speaking in court before he was formally sentenced today, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR&#8217; tsahr-NEYE&#8217;-ehv) said he&#8217;s sorry for the irreparable harm he&#8217;s caused and that he prays for the victims. He said he listened to everyone who spoke on the witness stand and he noted the strength, patience and dignity of the survivors. Earlier, Tsarnaev offered thanks to his attorneys &#8212; and to Allah.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEW ORLEANS (AP) &#8211; Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana says he&#8217;s entering the 2016 presidential race. And he&#8217;s already trying to distinguish himself in a field packed with better known rivals. Jindal&#8217;s chances will depend in large measure on his continued courtship of evangelical voters. But several other contenders also are determined to win over that group. His announcement came on his website, hours ahead of a kickoff rally.
