Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Rescue Squad was called to the Titan Machinery water tower site, near Jamestown,\u00a0 Thursday afternoon,\u00a0 at 4:40-p.m., when a worker inside was reported in need of medical assistance inside the tower.<\/p>\n

The Stutsman Rural Water District water tower stands 150 feet high.<\/p>\n

Medical first responders were unable to reach the victim, who had trouble breathing and had no feeling in his legs, and was unable to climb out on his own from a sitting position.<\/p>\n

The rescue squad used a construction cart while tethered by safety harnesses, and a Stokes stretcher was sent up on a line. The victim was secured, and a crane belonging to Dan Poland Machine Inc., that was escorted to the scene, by Jamestown Police, assisted the victim to the ground.<\/p>\n

Firefighter, Josh Smaage was lifted about 150 feet off the ground. Lt. Mark Urquhart and Lt. Sheldon Mohr transffered the worker to a waiting medical personnel on the ground.<\/p>\n

No information was immediately available on his condition, but he was conscious, when Jamestown Area Ambulance Service transported him to JRMC.<\/p>\n

No other information, including his name and what caused the medical condition, was immediately available.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jamestown, (CSi) The Jamestown City Council\u2019s Police & Fire. and Public Works Committee\u2019s met Thursday evening at City Hall. Council Member Brubakken was not present.<\/p>\n

Police & Fire Committee business:<\/p>\n

The commttee recommends introducing the first reading of an ordinance to amend and re enact Section 15-42 of the City Code pertaining to group day care facilities, with 30 children, and outlines square footage, for a group of 30. City Fire Chief Jim Reuther said there is an interest in Jamestown of having a daycare center of 30 or more. A group day care facility may NOT be in a house. Reuther said the Ordinance would be in line with the North Dakota Century Code.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Police Detective Leroy Gross addressed the committee, with a proposal concerning wages, and training officers.<\/p>\n

The police department has three training officers, who ride with new officers, and have additional duties.<\/p>\n

He said some new Jamestown officers have yet to complete the Police Academy program, due to the timing of the training available.<\/p>\n

He added that wages need to be adjusted to attract and retain officers.<\/p>\n

Officer Sid Mann added that more staff is needed, with three officer vacancies in the department.<\/p>\n

Gross said an exit interview is needed, and be reviewed.<\/p>\n

Mayor Andersen said city officials need to have conversations with the police department, and make studies, before budget time later this summer.<\/p>\n

The committee will be comprised of City Council Member Charlie Kourajian, along with City Administrator Jeff Fuchs, Deputy Auditor Jay Sveum, along with Police Chief Scott Edinger.<\/p>\n

Public Works Committee business:<\/p>\n

The committee recommends re- packaging of the Traffic Controller Request For Proposals due to BNSF Railroad Safety Project Implications. The location is at First Avenue, and First Street. Another replacement is planned at 10th<\/sup> Street Southeast, and 4th<\/sup> Avenue Southeast.<\/p>\n

The committee considered proceeding with change order repairs from RTS Shearing, concerning storm sewer repair issues.<\/p>\n

The committee recommends moving the issue to the City Council without recommendation pending whether the action will be a change order, or a proposal for bids.<\/p>\n

Discussion was held relative to a proposed roadway easement adjacent to Scherbenske Industrial Addition (27thAvenue SE).<\/p>\n

The committee recommends city attorney and city engineer contact Bloom Township and private property owners, to reach an agreement.<\/p>\n

Discussion was held regarding a request to allow Jefferson Bus Lines access across and through the City Hall parking lot (west side). Charlie Kourajian said a proposed bus station is at the garage located at First Congregational Church with access from the north using the alley behind City Hall, and exiting at the south end of the alley. Mayor Andersen said the alley would receive wear and tear, from the bus traffic, and City Administrator Fuchs added that the south exit would be a tight turn for the bus, especially when school is in session with parked cars on Second Street.<\/p>\n

Mayor Andersen moved to deny the request which was passed.<\/p>\n

The committee considered tabling a request to vacate 11 th Avenue NE\/1400 Block, adjacent to Lot 6, Block 4, Leapaldt Addition, Replat of Block 4; Part of Lots 7 & 8 Less N.102.5\u2019 of W.233\u2019 & S.72.75\u2019 of N.175.25\u2019 of W.200\u2019, Replat of Lots 7 & 8, Block 4, Leapaldt Addition, Replat of Block 4; and Lot 1, Block 1, Leapaldt 2nd<\/sup> Addition, to the City of Jamestown, Stutsman County, North Dakota. Clarice Liechty who is planning building construction, requested the city look at the area before tabling, asking for vacation of the road. Mayor Andersen added that the fire department should look at the area for fire truck access.<\/p>\n

The committee recommends sending the item to the City Council without recommendation, pending when fire truck access is determined.<\/p>\n

The committee recommends awarding a bid for the construction of Sanitary Landfill Cell 3B W at the Municipal Solid Waste Landfill to the low bidder, Scherbenske at $377,115.<\/p>\n

Informational:<\/p>\n

The draft RFP relating to training & development at the Water Treatment Plant will be presented during budget hearings.<\/p>\n

The committee recommends Change Order No. 3 & Final to Swanberg Construction, for construction on the Pump Station Improvements Project, DWSRF Project No. 4700498-05, for a net increase in the contract price of $15,680.29.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Buffalo City Church has been established in Jamestown, a new community-centered church plant sponsored by the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) Buffalo City Church is “a group of followers of Jesus organized in the Jamestown community, and how God is working in the region at-large.”<\/span><\/p>\n

More plans will continue to be developed over the next few months.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, Pastor Mark Reeves, and Co-Pastor, Caleb Drahosh explained that the church membership consists of “community groups,” that meet weekly in homes.<\/p>\n

Later this year a formal church location is hoped to be established for Sunday worship, with plans for the launch in late September of early October this year.<\/p>\n

Caleb pointed out that the church is a “life transformation,” experience with the goal of multiplying congregations.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) On Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 11-a.m., U.S. Senator, John Hoeven will join North Dakota National Guard officials to break ground on the North Dakota National Guard Vehicle Maintenance Shop, at 2135 7th<\/sup> Street, Southeast, in Valley City.<\/p>\n

In December, Hoeven toured the maintenance center to discuss its constraints and review plans for the new facility. As a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven worked to include the necessary funding in the 2015 Omnibus Appropriations legislation.<\/p>\n

\u3000FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Fargo-based RDO Equipment Co. has acquired three John Deere stores in Montana.

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A Swiss company planning a $500 million development on Williston’s outskirts will need permission from the city, whose mayor isn’t happy about the chosen site.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Williston Herald reports that the city has exercised its 1-mile extraterritorial jurisdiction, which will include the site that international real estate company Stropiq has chosen for its Williston Crossing project.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mayor Howard Klug has said he wished Stropiq had chosen a site within existing city limits. But he says the move to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction isn’t aimed at just the Williston Crossing project. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired hometown kid Tyus Jones from the Cleveland Cavaliers for two second-round draft picks this year and another one in 2019. The Cavaliers chose Jones with the 24th overall selection. They shipped the Apple Valley native to the Wolves for pick Nos. 31 and 36 and the 2019 second-rounder.<\/p>\n

Freshmen went 1-2-3 in the NBA draft. In addition to the Timberwolves selecting Karl-Anthony Towns with the first pick,\u00a0 Ohio State freshman point guard DeAngelo Russell went to the L.A. Lakers with the second pick and the Philadelphia 76ers used the third pick to take 6-11 Duke center Jahlil Okafor (jah-LIHL’ OH’-kah-fohr).\u00a0\u00a0

PARIS (AP) – A security official says the body found near the site of the explosion at a French gas factory was not decapitated by the blast. The head was found posted on the gate at the entrance to the factory in southeastern France. Two flags with Arabic inscriptions were found at the scene. French officials say two men crashed a car into gas canisters, touching off the explosion. Authorities say there’ve been multiple arrests.
