HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 Stemming from voter approval in 2014 elections, the City of Jamestown has revised the Fire Works Ordinance, shortening the hours that fireworks can be ignited.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p align=\"left\">Fireworks can be detonated within the City of Jamestown<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Noon to 11pm \u00a0Wed July 1<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Noon to 11pm Thrs July 2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Noon to 11pm Fri July 3<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Noon Sat July to 1AM Sun July 5<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fireworks can be sold July 1 \u2013 5.<\/p>\n<p>See excerpt from ordinance for the legalese.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Ordinance also pertains to sale and detonation other times of the year.\u00a0Time and place of sale; residency requirement; special permit:<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em><strong>No person shall offer fireworks for sale to individuals at retail within the city except during the periods of the first day of July through the fifth day of July<\/strong> and the twenty-sixth day of December through the first day of January.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em><strong>\u00a0Fireworks may be used or detonated on the first day of July through the fifth day of July <\/strong>and on the twenty-sixth day of December through the first day of January. The use of or detonation of any fireworks from 11:00 P.M. to 12:00 P.M. (noon) is prohibited within the City of Jamestown. Exceptions:<strong> Fireworks may be detonated on July 4th from 12:00 P.M. (noon) to 1:00 A.M. July 5<\/strong> and on December 31 from 12:00 P.M. (Noon) to 1:00 A.M. January 1.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>(2) Sale of fireworks shall be allowed only in areas zoned commercial or industrial.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>(3) No person shall offer any fireworks for sale unless such person is a resident of the city or living within the one-mile area under the city zoning control.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>(4) The Jamestown City Council may, by resolution, allow the sale or use of fireworks at any other time or date during<\/em> the calendar year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department will be offering lap swimming at the high school swimming pool starting July 1, 2015 and to continue through the opening of the Two Rivers Activities Center (TRAC).<\/p>\n<p>The standard hours are 6:15 AM \u2013 7:45 AM Monday \u2013 Thursday<\/p>\n<p>6:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. This time is for lap swimming only. We believe the dates and times will be standard, but there may be circumstances that may make various dates\/times unavailable. A monthly calendar will be created and shared with participants to outline any changes well in advance.<\/p>\n<p>All swimmers will enter and exit through the main high school doors. A check-in form will be provided at the pool. For security purposes, all swimmers will be required to sign in when they arrive and depart from the swimming pool facility.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in the Lap Swimming Program will utilize the Varsity Locker Rooms for both the morning and evening sessions. Lockers will be available, but swimmers will need to bring their own locks. We would ask that locks and all materials be removed after each swimming session.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Parks and Recreation will provide pool monitoring and lifeguards for the lap swimmers. There will be no charge for James River Family Fitness Members, however they will need to show membership card when particicating, for non-members a monthly pass can be purchased for $30.00 at the Jamestown Parks and Recreation office, 1002 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Ave. SE. All supervisors are certified Lifeguards. For more information call Jamestown Parks and Recreation 252-3982.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND \u2013 Jamestown Tourism sponsors the annual fireworks display, on Saturday, July 4.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Director Searle Swedlund says, The best viewing of the community fireworks display will be Jamestown Speedway grandstand on the Stutsman County Fairgrounds. The display begins around 10:30 p.m. (when it gets dark).<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, leave your fireworks at home. No fireworks will be allowed in Stutsman County Fairgrounds. Joseph Lever,\u00a0 is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Skyler Johnson is a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone locates the two individuals, call 911or the North Dakota State Emergency Communications Center at (800) 472-2121. Do not attempt to approach the juveniles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo police say a 3-year-old boy who was in a minivan that was stolen has been found and is safe.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the child was sleeping in the back seat of the vehicle when it was taken shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The boy&#8217;s mother had left the van running while she went into a food store where her husband works.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The \u00a0alleged theft was random &#8211; a &#8220;crime of convenience.&#8221; Officers were preparing to issue an Amber Alert when officers located a man matching the description of the person seen driving away in the van. The man brought police to the vehicle and they found the boy unharmed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 33-year-old suspect was arrested. Charges are pending.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The Highway Patrol has identified two women who died in a head-on crash on the Bismarck Expressway in Mandan.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-two-year-old Abby Renschler of Lincoln and 21-year-old Taylor Goven of Mandan were passengers in a car that the patrol says was hit head-on by a pickup traveling the wrong way in the highway&#8217;s west-bound lane shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The drivers of both vehicles were injured. The patrol says charges are pending against the 28-year-old Bismarck man who was driving the pickup.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The crash shut down the highway for about four hours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A man who was a federal fugitive for more than four years before he was arrested with help from a smartphone app has pleaded guilty to two counts of child pornography.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Adney Allen is charged in North Dakota with possession and distribution of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The 51-year-old Allen was indicated in July of 2009. He was arrested in November of 2014 on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the tipster who notified police about Allen learned of the suspect&#8217;s fugitive status after the agency launched its Operation Predator app. Allen was among the app&#8217;s featured fugitives.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Allen faces 30 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Sept. 14.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal public defender was not immediately available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota health officials are urging people at risk for HIV and AIDS to get tested.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Health Department has recorded 396 confirmed cases of HIV\/AIDS in North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Health officials say about one-fourth of the people estimated to be HIV positive are believed to be unaware of their infection and they could unknowingly be transmitting the disease.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Health Department says HIV testing is available at no charge throughout the state, and results are available in 20 minutes.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota State University students and staff will have access this year to a safety and security service that will allow dispatchers to track their whereabouts at all times and let users call for help by swiping the smartphone screen.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The app was used by some students in the spring in a pilot program and will be available this fall to everyone affiliated with the campus. The system works both on and off campus on a 24\/7 basis and it is integrated with the current NDSU technology that provides centralized electronic locks and a surveillance camera system.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Safety has been in the forefront at NDSU since freshman Thomas Bearson was killed by an unknown assailant in September and two students were raped at an off-campus apartment in December.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota is launching a telephone hotline to report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Department of Human Services says the hotline will be in place on Wednesday. The number is 1-855-462-5465.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say if a vulnerable adult is in immediate danger of serious injury or death, people should call 911.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say the department received about 1,500 reports of possible abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults last year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Longtime anti-human trafficking advocate Cindy McCain and U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp are touring western North Dakota to look at the state&#8217;s human trafficking challenges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cindy McCain is the co-founder of the McCain Institute and wife of 2008 Republican presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John McCain. She will join Heitkamp in Watford City on Sunday to hear firsthand about the unique challenges the state is facing and the work being done to combat human trafficking.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Watford City gathering follows others previously held in Bismarck and Williston. (AP) &#8211; Federal oversight officials say they&#8217;re satisfied with steps the Environmental Protection Agency and North Dakota Agriculture Department are taking in the wake of an audit critical of pesticide inspections in the state.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The February report was by the Environmental Protection Agency&#8217;s independent investigative arm, the Office of Inspector General. It said facilities in North Dakota that deal with pesticides haven&#8217;t been federally inspected for years, possibly endangering the public.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The EPA regional office said that contention was overblown but earlier agreed to OIG recommendations including that at least some inspectors be federally certified. (AP) &#8211; Dickinson State University is publishing online a collection of images that includes letters from President Theodore Roosevelt to cartoonist John McCutcheon. The letters come from the Newberry Library. It&#8217;s an independent research library based in Chicago. The center has been creating a digital library of items related to the life and presidency of Theodore Roosevelt since 2008.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. He says everything fell into place when he moved to South Carolina, and he has been working as a part-time official for the past six years. (AP) &#8211; A Bismarck teen has won the highest honor for a Girl Scout by sharing her passion for ice skating with others.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nChristina Feland earned the Gold Award through her project called &#8220;It&#8217;s Never Too Late to Skate.&#8221; The project helped students in their teens or older learn to skate.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Feland says she knew many friends who wanted to learn to skate, but didn&#8217;t want to be in classes along with little children.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During the project, Feland taught an 8-year-old one-on-one how to skate.
