Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Engineer\u2019s Office reminds motorists that on Monday, July 27, 2015, 7th<\/sup> Ave SE, between 2nd<\/sup> St & 3rd<\/sup> St SE, will be closed to traffic, due to utility work. The work is expected to be completed and the street is expected to be re-opened to traffic within one to two weeks.<\/p>\n

The work and anticipated street closure schedule are contingent upon weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Motorists and other traffic should use extreme caution when entering road construction areas. The public should consider alternate routes if possible.<\/p>\n

Spiritwood (CSi) Last Friday Dakota Spirit AgEnergy’s Spiritwood facility went into full commercial operation.<\/p>\n

During a news conference, recorded by CSi 10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL, President of Midwest AgEnergy Group Greg Ridderbusch announced the official operation has begun.<\/p>\n

Representatives of Governor Jack Dalrymple, Senator Heidi Heitkamp, Senator John Hoeven, and Congressman Kevin Cramer were on hand to pass along best wishes at the new 65 million gallon-per-year biorefinery.\u00a0 Also speaking was Jamestown’s Mayor, Katie Andersen.<\/p>\n

The ethanol produced at Dakota Spirit AgEnergy amounts to about 20% of North Dakota\u2019s annual fuel demand. The plant will purchase 23 million bushels of corn annually from farmers and provides 38 permanent jobs.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A weekend rollover east of Williston killed a 23-year-old man from the city.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says a tire on the man’s pickup truck blew out on a county road 15 miles west of Williston about 2 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle went into the ditch and overturned.

\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for transporting methamphetamine to a distributor in North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal jury in March found Tyson Trotter guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Authorities say Trotter dealt more than 500 grams of meth.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Trotter was arrested in November 2014 after authorities observed him meeting with a man from Grand Forks in the parking lot of a business in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Authorities say a search of Trotter’s vehicle yielded more than $16,000 in cash. The man accused of buying the drugs was later found to have a pound of meth in his vehicle.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson ordered Trotter to serve 10 years of supervised release when his prison term is completed.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Sentencing is scheduled for a North Dakota man convicted of attacking another man with a knife on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Francis Reed, of Fort Yates, pleaded guilty in April to federal charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He faces up to 10 years in prison on each charge.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reed was originally charged with assault to commit murder for the September 2014 incident. That charge was dropped in exchange for the plea.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota says con artists typically threaten people with halting their service immediately if a payment isn’t made. This scam tends to gain traction during the summer.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bureau President Dana Badgerow tells the Wahpeton Daily News that this is a “particularly bold scam” that has cost people money nationwide. In one instance, scammers claiming to be with an established utility firm promised $1,000 to a homeowner if they were allowed to come into the property and discuss an energy audit.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state’s congressional delegation says the funds from the U.S. Economic Development Administration have been awarded to the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Sioux Tribe and the Three Affiliated Tribes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. John Hoeven says the grants will help the tribes “develop and diversify” their economies.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The grants are meant to be used to implement comprehensive economic development plans, bringing together the public and private sectors.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Hockey fans can now take a trip down memory lane through thousands of trading cards and memorabilia that the University of North Dakota has opened to the public.

The Devils Lake Journal reports 54-year-old Al Freidig was inducted into the hall of fame in Garrison this month after he was nominated by fishing partner Clint DeVier. Freidig and his wife, Robin, own a real estate business in Devils Lake.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MANKATO, Minn. (AP) – The Minnesota Vikings have placed linebacker Casey Matthews on injured reserve. Matthews hurt his hip doing hurdles during offseason workouts and never made it on the field for practices with the team. The Vikings also placed cornerback Josh Robinson on the physically unable to perform list because of a torn pectoral muscle.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MANKATO, Minn. (AP) – The Minnesota Vikings have signed kicker Blair Walsh to a contract extension. Walsh was a sixth-round draft pick in 2012 out of Georgia entering the final year of his rookie contract. Walsh set an NFL record by making 12 consecutive field goals from 50-plus yards to start his career.<\/p>\n

WNBA…<\/p>\n

The Chicago Sky have traded center Sylvia Fowles to the Minnesota Lynx as part of a three-team deal.<\/p>\n

The Sky on Monday acquired Erika De Souza from Atlanta and also give the Lynx their second-round pick in next year’s draft. The Dream get Damiris Dantas, Reshanda Gray and Minnesota’s first-round pick next season.<\/p>\n

Fowles sat out the first half of the year after requesting a trade from Chicago in the offseason. Without their 6-foot-5 star, the Sky (11-6) are second in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

Minnesota (12-4) leads the West but has been hit by injuries the last week. Seimone Augustus is out most likely until mid-August with a knee injury. Lindsay Whalen hurt her eye, ending her streak of 106 straight starts. Both players missed the All-Star Game on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Kyle Busch’s incredible comeback rolled through Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where Busch won the Brickyard 400 yesterday to sweep the weekend at the historic track. Busch has won three straight Sprint Cup races, four of his last five and also won the second-tier Xfinity Series race Saturday at the Brickyard.<\/p>\n
