HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) \u2013 High winds Tuesday evening caused areas of Jamestown to be without electricity shortly after 10pm Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Police Department said the power appeared to be out for the entire city for a short period.<\/p>\n<p>Reports had areas of SE Jamestown, \u00a0central downtown business section (including Historic Franklin School), as well as parts of NW Jamestown, from 5th St NW past the fairgrounds without electricity. \u00a0 \u00a0Customers of Northern Plains Coop north of the Fairgrounds and west of the reservoir were also left in the dark.<\/p>\n<p>Ottertail crews worked to isolate the problems. \u00a0 The deep SE came back on after 10 minutes, \u00a0the downtown area started coming back on by 10:30.<\/p>\n<p>Historic Franklin (CSi) had gone automatically to backup generator during the outage.<\/p>\n<p>For more information tune to The Wayne Byers Show Weds morning at 8:25am on CSi 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ottertail Power says<\/strong>: \u00a0Call 800-257-4044 to report an outage or get updates. It was likely that power was rerouted until morning when workers could auger in a new pole in daylight<\/p>\n<p>Another utility pole was down near 5th Avenue and 5th Street NE near the Legacy Living Center.<\/p>\n<p>A large old tree on the boulevard in the 200 block\u00a0\u00a0of 7th Street Southwest was blown over and completely blocking the street.\u00a0 It fell on to two parked vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Report trees that are blocking the street to the city.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Weather Station reported a peak wind gust Tuesday evening of 49 mph in the 11-p.m., hour.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Electrical Supervisor Marshall Senf says customers in the Northeast part of the city were without power for about 90 minutes Tuesday evening after strong wind gusts pushed power lines together causing the outage.\u00a0 The Valley City airport recorded a wind gust of 41 mph at 1:15 a.m., on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 Cass County Electric customers were also without power near Pillsbury, North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 Winds surpassing 60 mph caused damage and concerns across North Dakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The high winds on Tuesday damaged trees and caused power outages in the western part of the state, and prompted some oil rigs to shut down to ensure the safety of workers and equipment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A golf course in Bismarck also closed. In the Minot area, the winds blew over trailers on U.S. Highway 83 and a semitrailer on U.S. 52.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Basin Electric Power Cooperative reported that some of its wind turbines shut down automatically because wind speeds surpassed a 55 mph limit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown City Fire Chief Jim Reuther, Tuesday morning said that MDU was doing work yestereday from 10:00am \u2013 5:00pm, discharging natural gas in the area of 302 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Ave NW and 12<sup>th<\/sup> Ave 2<sup>nd<\/sup> St NE.<\/p>\n<p>MDU staff was on site while the work was being performed.<\/p>\n<p>The smell natural gas may have been present in these areas along with flaring of natural gas in the areas.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The James Valley Street Machines are ready for their 2nd Annual Black Top Tour, July 31 \u2013 Aug. 2. This year the club is going to Minnesota &amp; South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The trip is over 645 miles and will take three days to complete. The cars will leave the Jamestown truck stop at 10:00am Friday Morning. Travel to many locations along the route stopping for mini-shows or just take in the scenery.<\/p>\n<p>President Steve Jaskoviak tells CSi that the rooms for the two nights, 30 in all, have been spoken for. (AP) &#8211; A Bismarck man died over the weekend in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Sheridan County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says 32-year-old Cole Weckerly was a passenger on an ATV that overturned on a gravel road between Martin and Selz about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. He died at the scene.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say charges are pending against the 36-year-old Goodrich man who was driving the ATV. The patrol says the driver told officers he purposely made the ATV fish-tail, and lost control. The driver suffered undisclosed injuries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Police say a man who fled a traffic stop in Fargo was responsible for a bogus 911 call about a shooting as he tried to throw police off his trail.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Chris Helmick\u00a0says the\u00a0suspect was stopped for speeding Tuesday night and fled on foot. They say a 911 call reporting a shooting at a liquor store that never happened was later traced to the man&#8217;s cellphone.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Formal charges are pending against the 21-year old Minneapolis man who was arrested on charges of fleeing police and possessing a stolen vehicle. Authorities say the car he was driving had been stolen in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for assaulting a man with a knife.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Donald Eagle pleaded guilty in March to assault with a dangerous weapon. The incident happened in August 2014 on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge sentenced Eagle to 37 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A federal public defender was not available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot man convicted of raping a teenager he befriended on Facebook has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. A jury in April found Corey Costa guilty of a felony gross sexual imposition charge. Authorities accuse Costa of befriending the teenager in 2012. Authorities say Costa drugged and raped the girl at his apartment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Attorneys for the city of Dickinson are asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the former Dickinson Trinity High School principal who was blamed for setting fire to the school until a judge threw out the charges.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The attorneys in court filings deny &#8220;each and every allegation&#8221; brought against the city and law enforcement by Thomas Sander.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sander has sued the city, three police detectives and unnamed law enforcement officials. He says he was coerced into making a confession after he was denied food, water and sleep. He says he was not allowed to use the bathroom during his interrogation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sander also claims police worked for five months to prosecute and convict him even though evidence showed that someone else started the fire.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sander&#8217;s attorney, Ryan Shaffer in Montana, declined to comment on the city&#8217;s response.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Federal authorities say an international synthetic drug ring that has been blamed for numerous overdoses in the Grand Forks area involves a Colombian man who moved the deadly substances while serving time in a Canadian prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-four-year-old Daniel Vivas Ceron has been charged with five counts, including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in death. He was arrested in Panama City and is awaiting extradition to the United States.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The arrest is part of an investigation into the international trafficking of fentanyl and other synthetic drugs that began with the overdose death in January of 18-year-old Bailey Henke, 18, of Grand Forks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents do not list an attorney for Ceron.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Five Grand Forks residents, all between the ages of 18 and 20, have pleaded guilty in the case.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The University of North Dakota is taking steps to help address an expected increase in demand for social workers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND in the fall will begin offering an online bachelor&#8217;s degree program in social work. The university cites a U.S. Labor Department study that demand for social workers will grow 19 percent by 2022, with the growth in rural areas potentially higher.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND also will be working with a tribal college in Fort Totten, with faculty teaching several of the students there as they work toward their degrees.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Spirit Lake tribe has been overhauling its child protection systems since it came under fire in 2012 for perceived lapses in protecting vulnerable children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota&#8217;s state Mill and Elevator has set a profit record.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The mill on Tuesday reported making $16.6 million during its last budget year, which ended in June.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That&#8217;s a 25 percent increase from the previous year&#8217;s profit of $13.3 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The mill had gross sales of $305 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Manager Vance Taylor says the mill had a good crop to work with and shipping volume increased during the last fiscal year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The mill sells most of its flour in bulk to bakery customers.
