Jamestown (CSi) Border States Paving has announced that the viaduct at 4th Avenue, Thursday will be closed for paving. Work will include both sides of the underpass.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marcy Nicklaus with Border States, says paving crews will begin work at 7-am, Thursday morning and are expected to finish around noon.<\/p>\n

Motorists are asked to take First Avenue in Jamestown or use alternative routes.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) An electrical outage occurred in Southeast Jamestown on Wednesday afternoon for about an hour, between about 12:07 p.m., and 1:07.<\/p>\n

Jeff Hoff with the Jamestown Otter Tail Power office said, a tree branch came in contact with a power line in Southeast Jamestown. He was unsure of the exact location as crews were still out in Jamestown taking care of damages caused by the high wind Tuesday, Tuesday night and Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that it took awhile for the crews to locate exactly where the tree branch came in contact with the line.<\/p>\n

He estimated that about 1,000 customers were affected by the outage, Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Otter Tail crews from Oakes, Sykeston and South Dakota locations were in Jamestown assisting the local crews in the cleanup and fixing downed power lines and utility poles that were downed by the high wind.<\/p>\n

\u3000<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Two major construction projects in Jamestown are set to move forward this fall with prep work, with construction planned, next spring. Both projects are being developed by Phil Culler.<\/p>\n

The planned hotel, convention center and retail center to located west of Jamestown Regional Medical Center has received approval of its drainage plan from the Stutsman County Water Resource Board.<\/p>\n

Preliminary plans include a 140-room hotel, a 20,000-square-foot retail anchor with additional strip malls, 133 apartment units in two buildings, two restaurants and a medical practice building.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile a planned 500-plus unit apartment complexto located south of Jamestown Regional Airport, has received plat approval from the Jamestown Planning Commission.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Learning Center, at James River Family Fitness, has openings for 3 and 4 year old children.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 James River Family Fitness Director, Frank Conlon said, the program is for children 3-to 12 years old, and runs from 6-a.m., to 6-p.m., Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n

There will be a Open House in August with the date to be announced.<\/p>\n

Frank noted that in mid-August the new brochure will be available listing class and courses for the fall, as the offerings and regular hours will start after Labor Day.<\/p>\n

He said popular classes include, Battle Ropes, Zumba, and Yoga, adding that Fitness on Demand in the air condition facility continues to be utilized.<\/p>\n

On our show he also pointed that the University of Jamestown\u2019s football all-weather turf field has been completed, behind the Larson Center, with fencing being installed.,<\/p>\n

He added that the former pool area is being filled with sand and clay, and the concrete, as the area becomes the wrestling facility for the university.<\/p>\n

\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – One of two suspects in a fatal shooting in Grand Forks a year ago has been sentenced to eight years in prison under a deal with prosecutors.

\nDametrian Welch was sentenced Wednesday. He had pleaded guilty in March to facilitating murder and agreed to testify against the other suspect in the June 2014 death of 24-year-old Jose Lopez.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Delvin Shaw was convicted of murder last month and is to be sentenced Friday. He could face life in prison without parole.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Lopez was shot three times in his Grand Forks apartment. They say Lopez wasn’t the intended target, but that Shaw went to the wrong apartment.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – About 15 North Dakota Air National Guard airmen have departed for a six-month deployment to Southwest Asia.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Board of University and School Lands has awarded $11.5 million in Energy Impact Grants to law enforcement, nonprofits and emergency medical services in the state’s oil and gas region.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A news release from the office of Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the grants were awarded Wednesday. Nearly $8 million will go to law enforcement agencies and service organizations such as the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office and Williston Family Crisis Shelter.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About $3.7 million is being given to emergency medical services, including for the purchase of equipment and in support of new buildings.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem joined counterparts and other officials in 30 other states in asking the Environmental Protection Agency to delay the implementation of a new federal water rule.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stenehjem on Wednesday said he signed a letter that was sent to the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In June, several states led by North Dakota filed a federal lawsuit over the same rule change.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Federal officials say the “Waters of the U.S.” rule clarifies which waterways are protected under the Clean Water Act. The rule is set to go into effect Aug. 28.

Valley City (VCSU- CSi) – Valley City State University men’s basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky has gone overseas to find the Vikings latest recruit.<\/p>\n

Kaminsky announced Tuesday that the Vikings have signed Jason Ralph, a 5-foot-11 guard from Ipswich, Australia, to a letter of intent. Ralph will attend VCSU and join the men’s basketball team starting this fall.<\/p>\n

Ralph has averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists per game this summer playing with the Ipswich Force in the Australia-State League. He recently scored a career-high 27 points, helping his team to a 116-111 victory. He is shooting 49 percent from the field and 30 percent on 3-pointers, while also pulling down 4.5 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

Ralph has had success at several previous levels in his career. He led the Queensland Basketball League in assists during the 2014 season, and was first in scoring at 30.6 points per game for the Under 21 BWJBC Men. He was also named the Under 21 Ipswich Force MVP, and was a captain of the 2014 Under 20 Men’s Queensland team.<\/p>\n

\u00a0CINCINNATI (AP) – A University of Cincinnati police officer charged in the traffic stop fatal shooting of a motorist is scheduled to appear in court today. Officer Ray Tensing claims he fired at 43-year-old Samuel DuBose because he thought he was going to be dragged under the car and feared for his life. Tensing had pulled DuBose over for not having a front license plate, and the July 19 incident was recorded by police bodycam. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters calls the killing “senseless.”

The decline comes a day after the Russian central bank halted daily purchases of foreign currency in an attempt to stop a week-long slide in the national currency. The ruble on Tuesday hit 60 rubles to the dollar, its lowest point in more than four months.

The crash happened late last night in Northeast Philadelphia. Police say the car was speeding around a sharp turn when it clipped a curb and went out of control. The car hit a tree and split in two. Two women and a man were pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Authorities have charged the teen with manslaughter in the death of 21-month-old Joshua Jock Jr. in the town of Harmony. Officials say the toddler died Monday between 11 p.m. and midnight at a day care where the owner also lives. Someone called 911 and reported that the toddler was unresponsive.
