St. Paul (CSi) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is reducing outflows into the Sheyenne River at Baldhill Dam, to around 50 cubic feet per second, or CFS, beginning today.<\/p>\n

The Corps says outflows are being reduced in order to perform gage maintenance and pipeline infrastructure maintenance downstream of Baldhill Dam.<\/p>\n

Corps staff lowered Lake Ashtabula water levels to elevation 1,265.4 feet in order to store the water. The pool is expected to climb to an elevation near 1,266.3 feet during this time.<\/p>\n

Corps staff plan to resume normal outflows of 800 cfs by August 12, 2015.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The annual “Stuff the Bus” program is in progress at the Buffalo Mall, in Jamestown through August 17th. The program assists children in need of items for school.<\/p>\n

All donated school supply items stay local and will be given to Community Action Region VI to be distributed to children in time for back to school.<\/p>\n

The bus is parked in the main entrance of the Buffalo Mall.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The All Veterans Picnic is set for Sunday August 9, 2015, with an indoor event at the All Vets Club in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Patriotic Council representative Leroy Wegenast said, all veterans and their families are invited, with the picnic put on by the Patriotic Council.<\/p>\n

Noon\u2026Concert by the Jamestown Drum and Bugle Corp<\/p>\n

12:25-p.m., Pledge and National Anthem<\/p>\n

12:30-p.m., Picnic Lunch with grilled hamburgers and brats along with potato salad, beans, homemade bars, coffee and lemonade.<\/p>\n

The suggested donation is $5 person.<\/p>\n

Refreshments available, plus BINGO and raffles.<\/p>\n

He added that the Patriotic Council is comprised of area veteran\u2019s organizations.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the annual Freedom Walk and supper will be on September 11th<\/sup>, starting at 5-p.m., starting with a short walk in downtown Jamestown and then supper.<\/p>\n

Wegenast said the All Vets Club\u2019s annual banquet and fundraiser is the third Thursday in October, with more information coming on the event.<\/p>\n

The Patriotic Council also helps organize Veteran\u2019s Day activities with local clubs and organizations.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Downtown Association and University of Jamestown report that booth space is filling up for the annual Community Block Party to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. August 27, 2015 along 1st Avenue in Jamestown. The event welcomes University of Jamestown students to the community at the beginning of the school year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Attorneys for a man sentenced to death for killing a University of North Dakota student nearly 12 years ago are alleging jury misconduct in the case.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The complaint is one of several issues that attorneys for 62-year-old Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. have raised in his death row appeal. A status hearing on the case is scheduled next month in Fargo.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Rodriguez, a convicted sex offender, abducted 22-year-old UND student Dru Sjodin (shuh-DEEN’) from the parking lot of a Grand Forks shopping mall in November 2003. Her body was found five months later near Crookston, Minnesota, where Rodriguez lived with his mother.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawyers on both sides declined to comment to KFGO radio\u00a0 about the alleged juror misconduct. The document on that complaint is sealed from public view.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A federal appeals court has rejected the complaints of a man sentenced to life in prison for killing his niece and nephew on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A jury in September 2013 convicted Valentino “Tino” Bagola on two counts of felony murder for the May 2011 slayings of 9-year-old Destiny Jane Shaw-Dubois and her 6-year-old brother, Travis Lee DuBois Jr.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Bagola stabbed the children to death after he sexually assaulted the girl because he was angry at their father but couldn’t find him.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bagola’s lawyers argued that the jury instructions were unfair, there was insufficient evidence for a conviction, and the judge wrongly limited cross-examination of the children’s father, who initially confessed to the crime.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-four-year-old Brandon Pierce is charged with luring minors by computer. He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon in Grand Forks.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The state Department of Health says almost 180,000 gallons of saltwater has spilled in northwestern North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department says Sampson Resources reported the spill and said almost 10,000 gallons have been recovered so far at the site seven miles northwest of Crosby.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brine is an unwanted byproduct of oil production and is considered an environmental hazard by the state. It is many times saltier than sea water and can easily kill vegetation exposed to it.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Public Service Commission has slated a public hearing for a proposed $85 million ethane pipeline in Divide and Williams counties.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The meeting is slated for Thursday in Williston for the proposed 47-mile-long pipeline proposed by Vantage Pipeline US.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The pipeline would start near Williston and connecting to an existing Vantage ethane pipeline system near Stady. The Vantage pipeline supplies ethane to petrochemical facilities located in Alberta, Canada.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ethane is colorless and odorless and extracted from raw natural gas. It’s used to make plastics and for welding, and as an anesthetic and an agent for ripening fruit.<\/p>\n

In sports\u2026Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown Head men\u2019s basketball coach,Alan Magnani has resigned, and Assistant coach Danny Neville has been named the new Jimmies head coach.Magnani was the Jimmies Head coach for one season, posting a 20-9 record.From the University of Jamestown:University of Jamestown Athletic Director Sean Johnson announces that Alan Magnani has resigned as the head men\u2019s basketball coach.Johnson says, “We are very grateful for Coach Magnani\u2019s leadership of the Jimmie men\u2019s basketball program through a very successful season which culminated in a 2015 NSAA regular season title.\u3000 We respect and appreciate his dedication to his family and his desire to return home to Iowa and wish him nothing but the best. I cannot begin to thank the University of Jamestown, President Badal, and Lawrie Paulson for the confidence they had in hiring me to direct the men\u2019s basketball program.\u3000 It was my honor to be the head coach of such a tradition-rich program. I will always treasure the successes our team achieved in 2014-15, both on the court and academically. Jason Challeen, was with the Jimmies from 2007-09 as an assistant coach, and is back, recently hired, to run the UJ offense.<\/p>\n

For the past four years, the Osseo, Minnesota native, has been on the East Coast, including coaching in Vermont, the past year at Mount Ida College in Boston, where he served as the football team\u2019s offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n

Challeen has 22 years of coaching experience, replacing Josh Kittell, who resigned in July. Kittell was hired as the offensive quality control coach at NDSU.<\/p>\n

\u00a0CONROE, Texas (AP) – A Texas prosecutor has criticized the judge who cut short the probation of Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson in a child abuse case.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State District Judge Kelly Case on Thursday reduced the 2012 NFL most valuable player’s probation from two years to nine months already served. Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon said Case seemed “enamored with an elite athlete.”
