Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Nov 26, 2012) — The Barnes County Commission voted unanimously to appoint a new Barnes County Auditor.<\/p>\n

Beth Didier will serve, starting in December 2012, and fill the unexpired term of Ed McGough who resigned earlier this year due to health reasons.<\/p>\n

Ms. Didier previously worked in the Barnes County Auditor\u2019s Office as a deputy auditor for nine years.<\/p>\n

She presently is employed as a USDA Rural Development Loan Specialist in Valley City and is on the North Dakota Winter Show Board of Dirctors.<\/p>\n

The county auditor\u2019s term expires in two years with the election in November of 2014.<\/p>\n

The interview selection committee recommended former Jamestown Public Schools Business Manager Joe Sykora as the new auditor.<\/p>\n

County Commissioners decided to interview Ms. Didier a second time during a special meeting on November 23rd.<\/p>\n

During Monday\u2019s (Nov 26, 2012) Barnes County Commission meeting, Commissioner Leitner said Sykora withdrew has name for the appointment, not being chosen on a unanimous vote.<\/p>\n

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) \u2013 The John Deere factory in Valley City is holding a groundbreaking this morning (Tuesday Nov 27, 2012) at 10:30am for its $20 million plant expansion.<\/p>\n

Gov. Jack Dalrymple and other dignitaries are slated to attend the groundbreaking of the new 100,000-square-foot addition.<\/p>\n

The factory makes air seeders and tillage equipment and has about 325 workers. The company says the up to 100 new jobs are expected with the expansion.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Nov 26, 2012) — The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation’s (JSDC’s) Executive Board has withdrawn recommending Stutsman County’s leaving the South Central Dakota Regional Council, based in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

The vote was unanimous to rescind the recommendation, and is an advisory vote with the final decision in the hands of the Stutsman County Commission.<\/p>\n

CHAFFEE, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have arrested three suspects
\nand are looking for a fourth after a home invasion-style armed
\nrobbery in the eastern North Dakota town of Chaffee.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cass County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tara Morris says a woman and her
\nadult daughter called authorities after the men broke into the
\nmother’s home about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Morris says the mother was
\nassaulted and both women were threatened. She says the daughter’s
\ntwo children were upstairs in the home and weren’t harmed.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Morris says the suspects took cash and valuables from the home.
\nShe says they had weapons but she didn’t say what they were
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The three suspects were arrested in Fargo about 2 a.m. Monday.
\nMorris says the victims knew at least two of them.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Mandan police are investigating a stabbing
\nthat occurred outside a local bar over the weekend.
\n\u00a0Police officers responded to a report of a fight shortly before midnight
\nSaturday at the Moscow Bar.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Jay Gruebele says 23-year-old Jace Renville, of Bismarck,
\nreported being assaulted by two men outside the bar. Renville was
\ntaken to a local hospital with lacerations on his abdomen and back.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say witnesses to the fight fled when police arrived.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gruebele says Renville did not know the attackers but provided
\ndescriptions of them. It’s not known what type of weapon was used.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota high school student has
\nbeen sentenced to prison for his role in a synthetic drug ring that
\nresulted in a handful of apparent overdoses and two deaths.
\n18-year-old Wesley Sweeney, of Manvel, was sentenced to 12\u00a0 1\/2 years
\nin prison Monday. He’d pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to
\ndistribute drugs that resulted in death.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say he bought the hallucinogens in June and gave
\nthem to two teenagers, including 18-year-old Christian Bjerk, who
\nwas found dead the next day.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sweeney, who also took the drug, says Bjerk was one of his best
\nfriends and apologized.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say 22-year-old Andrew Spofford made the drugs after
\nordering chemicals from overseas. Spofford pleaded guilty last
\nmonth. He’ll be sentenced next year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The defendants in a lawsuit over a North
\nDakota bar fight say there’s no evidence to back up the complaint
\nand it should be thrown out of federal court.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ron Carpenter, of West Des Moines, Iowa, has filed a civil suit
\nagainst Joshua Luger and the Last Chance Saloon for the October
\n2010 incident on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Carpenter says Luger assaulted him at the Solen Bar and caused
\nsevere injuries to his head and face.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lawsuit accuses the bar of negligence for serving Luger
\nliquor and failing to provide adequate security.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An answer to the complaint was filed Monday. The defendants say
\nthey’re not liable and accuse Carpenter of instigating the
\nconfrontation with a series of racial remarks.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota official says the state has
\ncollected more than $1 billion since 2007 by allowing drilling
\nactivity. State Department of Trust Lands commissioner Lance Gaebe
\n(GAY’-bee) says royalty income from oil production has overtaken
\nlease revenue. The state is now collecting more than $20 million in
\nroyalty income every month.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Four airmen with the North Dakota Air
\nNational Guard are returning home after four months of duty in
\nSouthwest Asia.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The airmen are scheduled to fly in to Fargo on two flights late
\nTuesday. The Guard did not disclose their exact area of service
\noverseas. They handled duties including overseeing a fitness
\ncenter, assisting with lodging for soldiers, ensuring the quality
\nof food service and helping with food deliveries.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Only two North Dakota Air National Guard soldiers remain
\noverseas. The Guard says that for a brief time after the new year
\nthere will be no North Dakota airmen overseas. The Guard says the
\nbreak in service will be the first since the 9\/11 terrorist
\nattacks.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More than 100 North Dakota Army National Guard soldiers are
\ndeployed overseas.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Officials are launching a project to turn
\na historic building in Williston into affordable housing for senior
\ncitizens.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The old junior high school in the oil boom city is being
\nconverted into 44 low-income apartments for seniors and space for
\ncommunity events. A groundbreaking was scheduled Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school building was built in 1931 and has been shuttered for
\nseveral years. It is listed on the National Register of Historic
\nPlaces.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The $10.6 million redevelopment project is getting federal,
\nstate and local funding and is slated to be completed in about a
\nyear. The building is being renamed the Lutheran Social Services
\nLegacy Living at Central Place.<\/p>\n

\nyear’s deer gun hunting season.

\nwith two fatalities.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Game and Fish hunter education coordinator Zach Peterson\u00a0says \u00a0more advertisements about safety and less hunting pressure were big reasons for the drop inthe number of accidents. Because of a decline in the deer
\npopulation only about 65,000 licenses were made available, 40
\npercent fewer than last year.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The season lasted about two weeks. It opened Nov. 9 and closed

\ngroup of oil industry officials and wildlife and conservation

UNDATED (AP) – The NFL has decided not to suspend Detroit

\nThanksgiving Day game. And a person familiar with the decision says
\nthe NFL will not be suspending Saints starting defensive tackle
\nBrodrick Bunkley for his kick to the back of offensive lineman Alex
\nBoone’s helmet in the final minutes of San Francisco’s victory over
\nNew Orleans on Sunday. Both Suh and Bunkley still face fines for
\ntheir actions.<\/p>\n

\nguaranteed seasons and $100 million. The agreement with the
\nthree-time All-Star incorporates the remainder of the 27-year-old’s
\nexisting contract, which called for him to earn about $36.5 million
\nover the next four seasons.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms with
\noutfielder Jonny Gomes (GOHMS) on a two-year contract that would
\nreportedly pay him $10 million. The Red Sox have not announced the
\ndeal, but a baseball official, speaking on the condition of
\nanonymity because Gomes had yet to take his physical, says that the
\nterms were agreed to.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gomes is a career .244 hitter who batted .262 with 18 homers and
\n47 RBIs for the Oakland Athletics last year.
