News Nov 26, 2012) &#8212; The Barnes County Commission voted unanimously to appoint a new Barnes County Auditor.<\/p>\n<p>Beth Didier will serve, starting in December 2012, and fill the unexpired term of Ed McGough who resigned earlier this year due to health reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Didier previously worked in the Barnes County Auditor\u2019s Office as a deputy auditor for nine years.<\/p>\n<p>She presently is employed as a USDA Rural Development Loan Specialist in Valley City and is on the North Dakota Winter Show Board of Dirctors.<\/p>\n<p>The county auditor\u2019s term expires in two years with the election in November of 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The interview selection committee recommended former Jamestown Public Schools Business Manager Joe Sykora as the new auditor.<\/p>\n<p>County Commissioners decided to interview Ms. Didier a second time during a special meeting on November 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>During Monday\u2019s (Nov 26, 2012) Barnes County Commission meeting, Commissioner Leitner said Sykora withdrew has name for the appointment, not being chosen on a unanimous vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) \u2013 The John Deere factory in Valley City is holding a groundbreaking this morning (Tuesday Nov 27, 2012) at 10:30am for its $20 million plant expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Jack Dalrymple and other dignitaries are slated to attend the groundbreaking of the new 100,000-square-foot addition.<\/p>\n<p>The factory makes air seeders and tillage equipment and has about 325 workers. The company says the up to 100 new jobs are expected with the expansion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Nov 26, 2012) &#8212; The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation&#8217;s (JSDC&#8217;s) Executive Board has withdrawn recommending Stutsman County&#8217;s leaving the South Central Dakota Regional Council, based in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The vote was unanimous to rescind the recommendation, and is an advisory vote with the final decision in the hands of the Stutsman County Commission.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CHAFFEE, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have arrested three suspects<br \/>\nand are looking for a fourth after a home invasion-style armed<br \/>\nrobbery in the eastern North Dakota town of Chaffee.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cass County Sheriff&#8217;s Sgt. Tara Morris says a woman and her<br \/>\nadult daughter called authorities after the men broke into the<br \/>\nmother&#8217;s home about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Morris says the mother was<br \/>\nassaulted and both women were threatened. She says the daughter&#8217;s<br \/>\ntwo children were upstairs in the home and weren&#8217;t harmed.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Morris says the suspects took cash and valuables from the home.<br \/>\nShe says they had weapons but she didn&#8217;t say what they were<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The three suspects were arrested in Fargo about 2 a.m. Monday.<br \/>\nMorris says the victims knew at least two of them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Mandan police are investigating a stabbing<br \/>\nthat occurred outside a local bar over the weekend.<br \/>\n\u00a0Police officers responded to a report of a fight shortly before midnight<br \/>\nSaturday at the Moscow Bar.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Jay Gruebele says 23-year-old Jace Renville, of Bismarck,<br \/>\nreported being assaulted by two men outside the bar. Renville was<br \/>\ntaken to a local hospital with lacerations on his abdomen and back.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say witnesses to the fight fled when police arrived.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gruebele says Renville did not know the attackers but provided<br \/>\ndescriptions of them. It&#8217;s not known what type of weapon was used.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota high school student has<br \/>\nbeen sentenced to prison for his role in a synthetic drug ring that<br \/>\nresulted in a handful of apparent overdoses and two deaths.<br \/>\n18-year-old Wesley Sweeney, of Manvel, was sentenced to 12\u00a0 1\/2 years<br \/>\nin prison Monday. He&#8217;d pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to<br \/>\ndistribute drugs that resulted in death.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say he bought the hallucinogens in June and gave<br \/>\nthem to two teenagers, including 18-year-old Christian Bjerk, who<br \/>\nwas found dead the next day.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sweeney, who also took the drug, says Bjerk was one of his best<br \/>\nfriends and apologized.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say 22-year-old Andrew Spofford made the drugs after<br \/>\nordering chemicals from overseas. Spofford pleaded guilty last<br \/>\nmonth. He&#8217;ll be sentenced next year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The defendants in a lawsuit over a North<br \/>\nDakota bar fight say there&#8217;s no evidence to back up the complaint<br \/>\nand it should be thrown out of federal court.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ron Carpenter, of West Des Moines, Iowa, has filed a civil suit<br \/>\nagainst Joshua Luger and the Last Chance Saloon for the October<br \/>\n2010 incident on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Carpenter says Luger assaulted him at the Solen Bar and caused<br \/>\nsevere injuries to his head and face.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lawsuit accuses the bar of negligence for serving Luger<br \/>\nliquor and failing to provide adequate security.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An answer to the complaint was filed Monday. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota official says the state has<br \/>\ncollected more than $1 billion since 2007 by allowing drilling<br \/>\nactivity. State Department of Trust Lands commissioner Lance Gaebe<br \/>\n(GAY&#8217;-bee) says royalty income from oil production has overtaken<br \/>\nlease revenue. (AP) &#8211; Four airmen with the North Dakota Air<br \/>\nNational Guard are returning home after four months of duty in<br \/>\nSouthwest Asia.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The airmen are scheduled to fly in to Fargo on two flights late<br \/>\nTuesday. The Guard did not disclose their exact area of service<br \/>\noverseas. They handled duties including overseeing a fitness<br \/>\ncenter, assisting with lodging for soldiers, ensuring the quality<br \/>\nof food service and helping with food deliveries.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Only two North Dakota Air National Guard soldiers remain<br \/>\noverseas. The Guard says that for a brief time after the new year<br \/>\nthere will be no North Dakota airmen overseas. (AP) &#8211; Officials are launching a project to turn<br \/>\na historic building in Williston into affordable housing for senior<br \/>\ncitizens.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The old junior high school in the oil boom city is being<br \/>\nconverted into 44 low-income apartments for seniors and space for<br \/>\ncommunity events.
