News Nov 28, 2012) &#8212; Remodeling to accommodate new services at the James River Family Y in Jamestown is continuing.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the Y\u2019s Executive Director, Cory Anderson said, racquetball courts three and four are being converted into the new Nautilus and Fitness Center, including &#8220;Nautilus On Demand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Also new will be the Golf Center, where golfers over the winter will be able to practice on a putting green, and participate in virtual golf activities, and a &#8220;swing<\/p>\n<p>station.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added, the James River Family Y is the area location for programs listed by Blue Cross\/Blue Shield of North Dakota, including the Silver Sneakers program, along with track walking, and the use of cardio equipment, and the swimming pool.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the Y is planning a soon to be announced holiday promotion.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson pointed out the Y is planning a new web site JamestownY.com and JamestownY.org<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming holiday hours include open Christmas Eve 5-a.m. to 4-p.m., closed Christmas Day. (AP) &#8211; Republican activists have picked a coal<br \/>\ncompany worker as North Dakota&#8217;s newest state senator.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jessica Unruh (UHN&#8217;-roo) of Beulah will succeed Randy Christmann<br \/>\nin the Senate. Christmann resigned after he was elected to the<br \/>\nNorth Dakota Public Service Commission.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unruh is an environmental specialist who works at the Freedom<br \/>\ncoal mine. She was one of six candidates for the appointment. She<br \/>\nwill serve the rest of Christmann&#8217;s term, which ends in December<br \/>\n2014.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota law allows party political activists to appoint a<br \/>\nlegislator if an incumbent resigns shortly before the Legislature<br \/>\nmeets.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 28-year-old Unruh will represent District 33 in North<br \/>\nDakota&#8217;s coal-mining region. It includes Mercer and Oliver counties<br \/>\nand part of western Morton County.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unruh says she&#8217;s planning to run for election when her term<br \/>\nends.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0NORTHWOOD, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A defunct oilseed processing plant in<br \/>\neastern North Dakota has been sold through an auction to an<br \/>\nundisclosed buyer.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Agweek reports\u00a0 that the former Northwood<br \/>\nMills plant sold on Tuesday for $1.1 million. Only a handful of<br \/>\npeople bid on the plant during the auction in a plant repair shop.<br \/>\nThe buyer submitted a bid online.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The $10 million plant that once employed about two dozen people<br \/>\nopened in 2007 and closed two years later due in part to weak<br \/>\ndemand for canola oil, and a bank foreclosed.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 American Federal Bank senior credit officer Gary Hoots said the<br \/>\nbank was hoping for a higher selling price. He said he couldn&#8217;t<br \/>\ncomment on the buyer&#8217;s plans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota regulators are asking a judge<br \/>\nfor permission to take control of the Falkirk Farmers Elevator Co.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Public Service Commission documents say Falkirk owes more than<br \/>\n$270,000 to at least seven people. Falkirk was based in Washburn<br \/>\nand operated grain elevators at Falkirk and Hazen.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commission voted Wednesday to ask a judge to rule that the<br \/>\nelevator can&#8217;t pay its bills. If that happens, the commission will<br \/>\nsell off the company&#8217;s assets so its creditors can be paid.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two elevators were closed in April, and they&#8217;ve already been<br \/>\nsold to other companies. But they still have pinto beans in<br \/>\nstorage.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Falkirk&#8217;s cooperative members voted last summer to liquidate the<br \/>\nbusiness and sell the company&#8217;s tractors, trucks and office<br \/>\nequipment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Basin Electric Power Cooperative wants to<br \/>\nbuild a new electric power plant near Watford City in western North<br \/>\nDakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project includes two turbines that would be powered by<br \/>\nnatural gas. They would be capable of generating up to 90 megawatts<br \/>\nof electricity.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota&#8217;s Public Service Commission said Wednesday it&#8217;s<br \/>\nreceived a notice from Basin that it wants to build the project.<br \/>\nThe commission must approve the plans before construction starts.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commission Chairman Brian Kalk says power providers have been<br \/>\nlooking for ways to meet the rising demand for electricity in<br \/>\nwestern North Dakota&#8217;s oil country.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Basin wants to start building the plant in April 2014, and have<br \/>\nit running by January 2015.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It would be in McKenzie County, about 14 miles west of Watford<br \/>\nCity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities are investigating the illegal<br \/>\nkilling of at least two pronghorns in western North Dakota&#8217;s Morton<br \/>\nCounty.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Game and Fish Department says the animals that are<br \/>\ncommonly called antelope were shot and left along a county road<br \/>\nnorthwest of Mandan.
