Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Nov 28, 2012) — Remodeling to accommodate new services at the James River Family Y in Jamestown is continuing.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the Y\u2019s Executive Director, Cory Anderson said, racquetball courts three and four are being converted into the new Nautilus and Fitness Center, including “Nautilus On Demand.”<\/p>\n

Also new will be the Golf Center, where golfers over the winter will be able to practice on a putting green, and participate in virtual golf activities, and a “swing<\/p>\n

station.”<\/p>\n

He added, the James River Family Y is the area location for programs listed by Blue Cross\/Blue Shield of North Dakota, including the Silver Sneakers program, along with track walking, and the use of cardio equipment, and the swimming pool.<\/p>\n

He noted that the Y is planning a soon to be announced holiday promotion.<\/p>\n

Anderson pointed out the Y is planning a new web site JamestownY.com and JamestownY.org<\/p>\n

The upcoming holiday hours include open Christmas Eve 5-a.m. to 4-p.m., closed Christmas Day. Open New Year\u2019s Eve 5-a.m., to 4-p.m., closed New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

He added that the Y will suspend classes starting December 24, for a week and restart the regular schedule on January 2, 2013.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Minnesota company has been fined $2,000
\nfor hitting an oil pipeline while workers were installing new sewer
\nand water lines near Dickinson.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota’s Public Service Commission voted Wednesday to
\nimpose the fine against Shores Cos. Inc. of Evansville.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commission Chairman Brian Kalk says Shores has declined to
\nrespond to agency questions about the incident in October 2011. He
\nsaid the company didn’t show up for a hearing to explain its
\nversion of events.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shores Cos. President Dennis Shores did not respond Wednesday to
\ntelephone messages left for comment. He said in an April letter to
\nthe commission that the pipeline’s location hadn’t been adequately
\nmarked.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kalk says the accident spilled about 8,000 gallons of oil
\nsoutheast of Dickinson. He said Shores didn’t follow state digging

\n10 in the nation with the lowest unemployment rates last month.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Labor Department says the North Dakota capital of Bismarck
\nhad the lowest rate among the 372 largest U.S. cities, at 2.2
\npercent. Bismarck is followed by Fargo at 2.8 percent and Grand
\nForks at 3.1 percent.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sioux Falls, South Dakota’s largest city, is eighth on the list,
\nwith a rate of 3.7 percent.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Labor Department says unemployment rates declined last month
\nin more than half of the 372 largest cities – further evidence of
\nsteady improvement in the job market.<\/p>\n

\nto Russia next week.

\nit’s scheduled to include top state agriculture administrators from
\nIdaho, Missouri and Oklahoma.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Goehring wants to find out more about Russian consumer demand
\nfor North Dakota oilseeds, machinery and other products. He says
\nthe recent normalization of trade relations with Russia opens up a
\npotential $40 billion market.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group will be visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg, and going
\nto Russian farms, stores and food processing facilities. The trade
\nmission starts Monday and extends through the week.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Plans to build a permanent truck bypass
\naround Williston have been complicated by what North Dakota
\nTransportation Director Francis Ziegler says is an
\n“unprecedented” discovery of American Indian artifacts.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ziegler says the artifacts uncovered along the preferred route
\nfor the bypass include burial sites and stone circles. At least one
\ntribe has asked for the route plans to be abandoned.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crews earlier this year completed a temporary bypass in the area
\nto help route heavy oil field truck traffic around Williston and
\nease congestion in city limits.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Deputy Transportation Director Grant Levi says officials will look at options for a permanent bypass that doesn’t disturb the artifacts. But Williams County Commission Chairman Dan Kalil says a second possible route is
\nopposed by some private property owners.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota regulators are asking a judge
\nfor permission to take control of the Falkirk Farmers Elevator
\nCompany.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Public Service Commission documents say Falkirk owes more than
\n$270,000 to at least seven people. Falkirk was based in Washburn
\nand operated grain elevators at Falkirk and Hazen.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The commission voted Wednesday to ask a judge to rule that the
\nelevator can’t pay its bills. If that happens, the commission will
\nsell off the company’s assets so its creditors can be paid.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two elevators were closed in April, and they’ve already been
\nsold to other companies. But they still have pinto beans in
\nstorage.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Falkirk’s cooperative members voted last summer to liquidate the
\nbusiness and sell the company’s tractors, trucks and office
\nequipment.<\/p>\n

NORTHWOOD, N.D. (AP) – A defunct oilseed processing plant in
\neastern North Dakota has been sold through an auction to an
\nundisclosed buyer.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Agweek reports that the former Northwood Mills plant sold on
\nTuesday for $1.1 million. Only a handful of people bid on the plant
\nduring the auction in a plant repair shop. The buyer submitted a
\nbid online.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The $10 million plant that once employed about two dozen people
\nopened in 2007 and closed two years later due in part to weak
\ndemand for canola oil, and a bank foreclosed.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 American Federal Bank senior credit officer Gary Hoots said the
\nbank was hoping for a higher selling price. He said he couldn’t
\ncomment on the buyer’s plans.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Basin Electric Power Cooperative wants to
\nbuild a new electric power plant near Watford City in western North
\nDakota.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The project includes two turbines that would be powered by
\nnatural gas. They would be capable of generating up to 90 megawatts
\nof electricity.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota’s Public Service Commission said Wednesday it’s
\nreceived a notice from Basin that it wants to build the project.<\/p>\n

\nThe commission must approve the plans before construction starts.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commission Chairman Brian Kalk says power providers have been
\nlooking for ways to meet the rising demand for electricity in

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Game and Fish Department
\nis investigating the illegal killing of a moose in Burleigh County.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 District Game Warden Jackie Lundstrom says a bull moose was shot
\nnear Moffit earlier this month during the first week of the deer
\ngun season. A $1,000 reward is being offered through the Report All
\nPoachers program for information leading to a conviction.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A similar reward is offered for information in the illegal
\nkilling of at least two pronghorn in neighboring Morton County the
\nsame weekend.<\/p>\n

\ncompany worker as North Dakota’s newest state senator.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jessica Unruh (UHN’-roo) of Beulah will succeed Randy Christmann
\nin the Senate. Christmann resigned after he was elected to the
\nNorth Dakota Public Service Commission.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unruh is an environmental specialist who works at the Freedom
\ncoal mine. She was one of six candidates for the appointment. She
\nwill serve the rest of Christmann’s term, which ends in December
\n2014.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota law allows party political activists to appoint a
\nlegislator if an incumbent resigns shortly before the Legislature
\nmeets.

\nDakota’s coal-mining region. It includes Mercer and Oliver counties
\nand part of western Morton County.

\nUpton has agreed to a five-year package with the Braves after
\nhitting .246 with 28 homers, 78 RBIs and 31 stolen bases for Tampa
\nBay this year. Several media outlets reported the deal is worth
\n$75.25 million, which would be the largest free-agent contract in

\u00a0Also in baseball, Andy Pettitte has signed a one-year deal with
\nthe Yankees. The 40-year-old lefty came out of retirement on May 13
