(AP) &#8211; Three children gunned down in their<br \/>\ngrandmother&#8217;s home in New Town are being laid to rest.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hundreds of people have turned out for the funeral services in<br \/>\nthe community of Warsaw for 13-year-old Benjamin Schuster,<br \/>\n10-year-old Julia Schuster and 6-year-old Luke Schuster. They were<br \/>\nshot to death Nov. 18, along with their 64-year-old grandmother,<br \/>\nMartha Johnson. Johnson&#8217;s funeral was Monday in New Town.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The children&#8217;s services are being held in St. Stanislaus<br \/>\nCatholic Church. Large displays of photos have been set up, and<br \/>\nthere are stuffed animals below each stained glass window.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A New Town man who killed himself in the nearby town of Parshall<br \/>\nthe day of the slayings is considered a person of interest in the<br \/>\ncase. The FBI is handling the investigation and has not released<br \/>\ndetails.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former Grand Forks police officer is<br \/>\naccused of holding an unloaded handgun to another man&#8217;s head during<br \/>\na party in August.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-seven-year-old Jace Prelip is charged with terrorizing<br \/>\nand could face up to five years in prison if convicted. His<br \/>\nattorney, Cash Aaland, was out of the office Thursday and not<br \/>\nimmediately available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Chief John Packett\u00a0says \u00a0Prelip resigned a few days after the<br \/>\nAug. 29 incident. Prelip had worked for the police department<br \/>\nnearly three years. His preliminary court hearing is scheduled for<br \/>\nJan. 28.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Fargo contractor has agreed to pay<br \/>\n$16,800 in penalties for a construction incident that killed a<br \/>\nworker.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-year-old Trevor Skarphol, of Fargo, died in May when a<br \/>\nsteel beam fell on him while he was working on an addition to the<br \/>\nSheyenne Ninth Grade Center in West Fargo.<br \/>\nLee Jones &amp; Son Construction Co. negotiated the settlement with the<br \/>\nOccupational Safety and Health Administration, which had proposed<br \/>\n$21,000 in penalties for what the agency said were safety<br \/>\nviolations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; U.S. marshals made an unusual arrest in<br \/>\nFargo, capturing a woman who tried to hide inside a large suitcase<br \/>\nbut got tripped up by her own hair.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 38-year-old woman was wanted for violating her supervised<br \/>\nrelease on a drug conviction. As authorities searched an apartment<br \/>\nfor her Wednesday, a suitcase fell over in a closet and officers<br \/>\nheard a grunt.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the woman&#8217;s hair had become caught in the<br \/>\nzipper, and she had to be cut out of the suitcase before she could<br \/>\nbe arrested.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; An appeals court has ruled against a North<br \/>\nDakota man convicted in a child pornography case.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A jury in October 2011 found Scott Boyle, of West Fargo, guilty<br \/>\non charges of sexual exploitation of minors and possession of<br \/>\npornography. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say that between 2006 and 2010, Boyle videotaped two<br \/>\nunderage girls in a bathtub and while they were playing naked in a<br \/>\nbedroom in Boyle&#8217;s home.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Boyle argued in his appeal that the jury was not given proper<br \/>\ninstructions, the evidence did not support the charges, and the<br \/>\ntapes did not show sexually explicit conduct.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Boyle&#8217;s<br \/>\nrequest for acquittal or a new trial.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINNEAPOLIS (AP) &#8211; Two Minnesota oil refineries say they<br \/>\nshouldn&#8217;t have to help pay for a pipeline that they won&#8217;t use.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge Energy this month proposed a<br \/>\nsurcharge to finance the $2.5 billion, 618-mile &#8220;Sandpiper&#8221;<br \/>\npipeline, which will bring more oil from western North Dakota<br \/>\nacross Minnesota to a terminal in Superior, Wis.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But the owners of refineries in Rosemount and St. Paul Park that<br \/>\nuse North Dakota crude have told federal regulators they oppose the<br \/>\ndeal. The Star Tribune reports their major complaint is all oil<br \/>\nshipped from the Bakken fields into Minnesota would pay a $1.45 per<br \/>\nbarrel surcharge, even if it didn&#8217;t travel on the new line.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Enbridge says all shippers stand to gain because the project<br \/>\nwill end the bottleneck on an existing North Dakota-Minnesota<br \/>\npipeline.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; American Indian tribes in North Dakota<br \/>\nhave received more than $65 million to settle claims that the<br \/>\nfederal government mismanaged tribal money and trust lands.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Justice Department says the Three Affiliated Tribes got $10<br \/>\nmillion and the Spirit Lake Sioux about $6.7 million. The Standing<br \/>\nRock Sioux in North Dakota and South Dakota got nearly $49 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The federal government announced earlier this year it was paying<br \/>\nmore than $1 billion to dozens of tribes across the country.<br \/>\nAnnounced settlements with tribes in the Dakotas total more than<br \/>\n$118 million.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The settlements are separate from a $3.4 billion settlement with<br \/>\nindividual members of tribes across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) &#8211; Drought conditions have worsened in<br \/>\nSouth Dakota over the week but remained relatively stable in North<br \/>\nDakota.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The latest U.S. Drought Monitor map shows 63 percent of South<br \/>\nDakota in the worst two categories of drought, extreme and<br \/>\nexceptional. That is up more than 8 percent from last week. All of<br \/>\nthe state is in some form of drought.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About 91 percent of North Dakota is in drought, unchanged over<br \/>\nthe week.
