Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a Semi truck fire at 6:13-p.m. on Saturday on I-94 eastbound, at Exit 259.<\/p>\n

No cause was listed as the truck was totaled.<\/p>\n

Four city fire units and 20 fire fighters were on the scene.<\/p>\n

No cause was listed.<\/p>\n

Then, Jamestown City Fire department was called out to Altendorf Trucking, east of Jamestown, on Sunday about 6:55-p.m., in the lot at the shop area, where the fire rekindled, in the cab.<\/p>\n

Four city units and 31 city fire fighters were on the scene, then, about an hour.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) Valley City Police report a chase on Sunday led to the arrest of 37 year old Shelton Ard<\/p>\n

The senario started when Valley City Police Officer Major Hopp observed and verified a passenger wanted on an existing Warrant of Arrest and attempted to stop a truck.<\/p>\n

Officer Hopp attempted to approach the vehicle when Ard exited the truck and ran through a field in the 1100 block of 5th Avenue Northeast. Officers gave chase and issued commands for Ard to stop, eventually overtaking Ard into custody without incident.<\/p>\n

After Ard was taken into custody, his path was retraced by officials who found three plastic bags containing what is believed to be marijuana. During the booking process Ard was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Fleeing on Foot.<\/p>\n

He also has an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for failing to pay child support.<\/p>\n

Police \u00a0Chief Thompson said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about this case is asked to call 701-845-3110.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Parkboard has given themselves a raise, approved on a 3-2, with members Larry Knoblich and Mark Ukestad opposed. The raise increasing parkboard members monthly salary from $100 to $125 and Chairman Mike Landscoot\u2019s salary from $150 to $175 a month.<\/p>\n

The salary change takes effect on January 1, 2016.<\/p>\n

Landscoot said he thought bringing the commissioners\u2019 salaries up by $25 a month brought the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission more in line with parks and recreation commissions from similar-sized communities.<\/p>\n

Knoblich said he was concerned about how the public will view the salary increases.<\/p>\n

Ukestad said he thought the salaries should have remained as they were.<\/p>\n

Doug Hogan, Parks and Recreation Department director,adds that the commissioners also receive free use of the all Parks and Recreation facilities. When the Two Rivers Activity Center is built, commissioners will also get free use of that facility for as long as they serve on the commission.<\/p>\n

Also at Monday\u2019s meeting, Landscoot and Vice Chairman Ron Olson said the commission will be holding more special meetings related to approvals needed for TRAC.<\/p>\n

Hogan said he had received a letter from a disability rights advocacy group that most of Jamestown Parks and Recreation bathrooms were not accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act.<\/p>\n

Hogan said contractor David Hillerud looked at each bathroom in all of the Parks and Recreation facilities. Hillerud\u2019s estimate was $30,000 to $40,000 to make changes at seven bathroom facilities. Hogan said he would research into what grants are available to cover an expense like this.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) board of directors, has approved renewing the office space lease.<\/p>\n

UTC Aerospace Systems will pay about $3,800 per month in rent for an office building it leases from the JSDC.<\/p>\n

The payment includes the lease payment to the Jamestown Regional Airport Authority and all applicable property taxes.<\/p>\n

UTC has an option to purchase the building for $350,000 during the term of the lease.<\/p>\n

UTC has leased the building since 2003.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Planning Commission has approved replating four lots in southwest.<\/p>\n

The lots are located at 1300 and 1304 14th St. SW and 1209 and 1303 13th St. SW and affect lots 1 through 4 in Wanzek Second Addition. The property owners asked that the alley right of way be relocated 10 feet to the west. Moving the alley right of way would locate the right of way to where the physical alley was built.<\/p>\n

The Planning Commission approved the preliminary and final plat request as no member of the public spoke for or against the change.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Pulblic School District patrons will go to the polls on September 29, 2015 to decide on whether to pass a $19 million levy\u00a0for\u00a0bonds\u00a0 for\u00a0the proposed expansions and renovations of elementary and middle schools.<\/p>\n

Early voting will start Tuesday September 15, 2015, and continue\u00a0through September 28th at the Stutsman County courthouse.<\/strong>\u00a0 Absentee balloting is also underway.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Jamestown Public School Board has set another community forum to discuss the proposed expansions and renovations of elementary and middle schools, and the $19 million in levy bonds set for a special election, on Thursday September 17, 2015, AT 7-P.M., at the middle school, Thompson Community Room.<\/p>\n

The meeting\u00a0is geared to inform the public about the school projects and allow for questions and answers.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2013 Free checkups of car seats for children will be offered in North Dakota throughout the week as part of a national effort that stresses child passenger safety.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Department of Health in encouraging parents and caregivers to take advantage of the inspections to ensure their children are in the right car seats for their age and size, and that seats are installed correctly.<\/p>\n

The department says car crashes continue to be a leading cause of death for children. Officials say more than 600 children in the U.S. under the age of 13 could have survived a crash in 2013 if they had been restrained.<\/p>\n

The inspections are part of Child Passenger Safety Week that runs from Sunday through Sept. 19.<\/p>\n

Families will be fed a pizza supper and they will be allowed to browse through tables with community information that would be pertinent to new families, and then have door prizes.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Trial has been pushed back for an Oregon man accused of supplying a powerful synthetic drug that led to several drug overdoses in North Dakota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Proceedings for Brandon Hubbard, of Portland, Oregon, were scheduled to begin Tuesday. Hubbard has pleaded not guilty in federal court to several charges, including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in serious bodily injury and death.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defense attorney Jeff Bredahl asked for the delay because the case is complicated and the evidence in the case is being gathered from throughout the United States and Canada. Prosecutors did not object to the motion.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department says the man was shot around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, when the officer responded to a report of a suspicious person.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department says the officer asked the man to identify himself, but instead he began to flee. The officer caught the man and a fight ensued, leading the officer to discharge the weapon during the struggle.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The man remains at a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The officer was placed on administrative leave, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation is probing the incident. These are standard procedures when an officer is involved in a shooting.

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Authorities in North Dakota say a stolen pickup truck and numerous items worth about $40,000 have been recovered in Minot.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Ward County Sheriff’s Department on Monday said the items were recovered when a search warrant was executed at a Minot apartment and garage Friday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say deputies found a 2012 Chevrolet pickup that had been reported stolen a few days before the search. The department says power tools, a handgun and other times that were stolen during several burglaries in Ward County were also recovered.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 22-year-old Joshua Evanoff, of Minot, was arrested when the search warrant was served. He faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and burglary.

Martin Heinrich of New Mexico are introducing legislation to designate the American bison as the country’s national mammal. The proposed National Bison Legacy Act also recognizes the historical, cultural and economic significance of the animal.

Valley City (CSi) Valley City High School will have to forfeit one football game win after an ineligible football player played in the Lisbon vs Valley City game on Friday, September 4, 2015.<\/p>\n

Activities Director Marty Bratrud said, “A letter of self report was sent to both the North Dakota High School Activities Association and Lisbon School District and now Valley City will have to forfeit the game.”<\/p>\n

The record will now show Valley City with a 2-1 win loss record instead of 3-0 for the 2015 fall football season.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marlan Haakenson (HAWK’-uhn-suhn) says he hopes to interfere with the nickname selection process, because he believes “North Dakota” should also be an option.
