\u00a0 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – NBC’s Al Roker will be in North Dakota and South Dakota next week as he attempts to set the world record for the fastest time ever for reporting the weather from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Roker will kick off his world record attempt Friday in Hawaii and plans to hit all states and D.C. in just one week. He will be in Fargo, North Dakota, and Sioux Falls on Monday.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roker will travel by planes, trains and automobiles.\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Last year, Roker completed a 34-hour marathon weather forecast that was certified by Guinness World Records as the longest continuous live weather broadcast.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Bus Depot will open a week later than planned.<\/p>\n
Charlie Kourajian says, when the Jefferson Bus Lines bus comes to Jamestown on Monday, November 16,<\/b> it will be stopping at the new bus depot at 119 \u2013 2nd Ave. S.E.<\/sup><\/p>\n
He says Jefferson Bus Lines called him Tuesday and said they could not get all the electronic changes done by Monday, November 9th .<\/p>\n
Thanks to the generosity of the parishioners of the First Congregational Church of Christ, the garage on their parking lot has been remodeled to be the local bus depot.<\/p>\n
The project was funded by a grant from the City of Jamestown and donations from many community-minded people.<\/p>\n
Except for professional services like excavating, plumbing, electrical work, all work was done by volunteers.<\/p>\n
The bus depot will be operated by volunteers from the Jamestown Bus Stop, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and will be open during the times the buses arrive, which are 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (eastbound) and then again at 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (westbound). It will be manned during open hours.<\/p>\n
At this time, the depot is not set up to sell tickets, but will be before the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) The Barnes County Commission has accepted the resignation of Veterans Service Officer Chad Clement.<\/p>\n
His resignation became effective Tuesday.<\/p>\n
During a Grievance Committee hearing on Friday, Clement pointed out Barnes County Commission John Froehlich as an elected official, among others that are arrogant in handling Barnes County employees. He also had a concern about Barnes County Auditor, Beth Didier.<\/p>\n
Four Barnes County Commission Tuesday voted to accept the resignation and to find a replacement for Clement as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
Commissioner Mike Metcalf was on vacation and absent from the meeting.<\/p>\n
Clement has served as the Barnes County Veterans Service Officer since May 25 of 2015.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) A fire Tuesday destroyed a farm shed and its contents northwest of Valley City.<\/p>\n
A boat and other items were inside the shed at the Thomsen farm at the time of the fire.<\/p>\n
Barnes Chief Deputy Don Fiebiger said flames were shooting out of the shed when upon arrival . No other structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Fiebiger says the preliminary cause of the fire concerns a torch in the shed. as the cause remains under investigation, by the Valley City Rural Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund says Jamestown will host the<\/p>\n
Duel in the Dirt <\/span><\/a>bull riding event, on November 20, 21, 2015, at the Jamestown Civic Center.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Swedlund said this is the first time Jamestown has hosted the event, a part of the bull riding circuit, that has previously been held in Sanborn, and several events at other North Dakota locations.<\/p>\n

Their Facebook page says the store offers smokehouse products to take home, or pick up some of their award wining BBQ for lunch<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Gov. Jack Dalrymple is defending his decision to pay nearly $100,000 as retention bonuses to five members of his staff.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple announced in August that he won’t seek re-election in 2016. He tells The Associated Press that the bonuses were paid to keep key people in his administration “who are important to the process in governing the state of North Dakota.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Democrats are questioning the bonuses, which were first reported by KFGO-AM radio on Monday after an open records request.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Democratic House Minority Leader Kenton Onstad says the bonuses to the governor’s staff “just doesn’t smell right.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Onstad says the state’s program of paying recruiting and retention bonuses is important for hard-to-fill jobs in the state’s oil patch. But he questions if that’s the case in the governor’s office.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – A North Dakota man who prosecutors say masterminded a murder-for hire plot that left two people dead has withdrawn his guilty plea. That’s after a federal judge in Washington state determined James Henriksen should serve a life sentence for ordering the murders of Kristopher Clarke and Doug Carlile. Federal prosecutors plan to file a motion that would enable a lesser sentence that Henrikson already agreed to in September.<\/p>\n

HAVRE, Mont. (AP) – A 14-year-old Montana girl who was the subject of a missing and endangered person alert has been found safe. The girl disappeared Monday and sent messages to her mother saying she was going to walk to meet her in North Dakota. Police found the girl after getting a tip from a citizen.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Rain over the past week has slowed the harvests of corn and sunflowers in North Dakota, though both remain ahead of the average pace.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that 70 percent of the sunflowers are harvested, compared with the average of 56 percent. And the corn harvest is 83 percent complete, well ahead of the 69 percent average.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Dakota’s winter wheat crop is rated 71 percent in good to excellent condition. Nearly all of the crop has emerged. Winter wheat is seeded and emerges in the fall, goes dormant over winter, begins growing again in the spring and is harvested in the summer.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pasture and range conditions statewide are rated 43 percent good to excellent. Stock water supplies are 79 percent adequate to surplus.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – The city of Minot will have a female fire chief for the first time in its history.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Grand Forks Battalion Chief Kelli Flermoen is a 20-year veteran of the Grand Forks Fire Department. She’ll succeed Minot Chief CJ Craven, who’s retiring Jan. 8 after 35 years with the department including eight as its leader.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Flermoen sees a lot of similarities between Grand Forks and Minot, including that both communities have fought back from devastating floods.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Flermoen is a Minnesota native who holds associate degrees in fire technology and administration and in criminal justice, a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in strategic leadership.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Firefighter’s Association says Flermoen is believed to be the first female fire chief in one of the state’s four largest cities.<\/p>\n

\u00a0CANNON BALL, N.D. (AP) – Students in Cannon Ball who were displaced by a grass fire on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation have returned to their regular classrooms.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Oct. 11 blaze melted playground equipment and filled Cannon Ball Elementary School with smoke and soot. The 115 students attended classes in nearby Solen during cleanup.

\n\u00a0\u00a0The students returned to the Cannon Ball school on Tuesday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Administrator Justin Fryer says Cannon Ball staff and students were warmly received in Solen, but it’s good to be back in familiar surroundings.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The fire came within a few feet of the school and destroyed the playground. Fryer says students are making do playing ball and other games like tag. He says the school plans to put in a new playground next spring.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keith Reisenauer has been named first assistant U.S. attorney, which makes him second in command to U.S. Attorney Christopher Myers.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reisenauer is a Mandan native who earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Dakota. He has been a federal prosecutor since 1991.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reisenauer served as assistant Cass County state’s attorney from 1983-91.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Department of Trust Lands auctioned exploration rights to more than 10,500 acres in nine western North Dakota counties on Tuesday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The average payment ranged from just more than $1 per acre in Sioux County to more than $10,700 per acre in Mountrail County.\u00a0

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state Parks and Recreation Department began selling the pass this week. It provides entrance into any state park and is good until April 30, 2017.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The pass costs $25. There are $5 discounts for senior citizens and disabled veterans.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2013 The North Dakota State University football team has moved up again in both national polls after beating Southern Illinois 35-29 on the road Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Bison moved up one spot to No. 6 in the STATS media poll and up one spot to a tie with McNeese State for No. 5 in the coaches poll.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville State is atop both polls, followed by Illinois State, Chattanooga and Eastern Washington. Richmond is No. 5 in the STATS poll.<\/p>\n
NDSU hosts Western Illinois in the Harvest Bowl game at the Fargodome this Saturday. Bison players will wear an alternate helmet that\u2019s green rather than yellow. The helmet will have the traditional Bison logo, along with a head of wheat as a center stripe.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2013 The National Collegiate Hockey Conference has suspended North Dakota\u2019s senior forward Drake Caggiula (kah-JOO\u2019-luh) for one game, citing an illegal hit during Saturday\u2019s game at Colorado College.<\/p>\n
The league says Caggiula was suspended after the review of a play in which “a hit was delivered to the head” of a Colorado College player during the second period of the game at The Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n
Caggiula will be required to serve the suspension during North Dakota\u2019s game Friday against Wisconsin. North Dakota\u2019s spokesman didn\u2019t immediately return phone messages seeking comment on the suspension Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Caggiula, a senior forward from Whitby, Ontario, leads the team in assists, points, penalties and penalty minutes this season. He has two goals and seven assists in eight games<\/p>\n

Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Game and Fish Department enforcement personnel are issuing a reminder that a permit is required before taking possession, or any part, of a dead deer found near a road or in a field, such as a road kill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This includes the skull with antlers. Only shed antlers can be possessed without a permit.<\/p>\n
Permits to possess are free and available from game wardens and local law enforcement offices.<\/p>\n
In addition, hunters are reminded to properly dispose of dead deer. Harvested deer cannot be left on the side of a roadway or in a ditch, and deer parts cannot be discarded in commercial dumpsters.<\/p>\n
