Jamestown (CSi) –\u00a0 The season\u2019s first snow accumulation Thursday led to rain and wet snow accumulations causing slippery driving conditions.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown City Fire Department\u00a0Rescue Squad\u00a0\u00a0was called out at 1:05-pm\u00a0 Thursday to a vehicle off the road at 300 17th Avenue SW. \u00a0Upon arrival they found a\u00a0SUV had slid off the road into the trees. Occupants were transferred to JRMC by ambulance.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Officials report that a 24-year-old Jamestown man currently serving time at the James River Correctional Center is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly assaulted three correctional staff members.<\/p>\n

Erik LaRocque was charged with simple assault and two counts of contact by bodily fluid or excrement Wednesday in Southeast District Court in Jamestown. All three charges are Class C felonies.<\/p>\n

Court documents say LaRocque assaulted a correctional officer by allegedly biting and punching the man on Sept. 1. LaRocque also allegedly spit blood on two other correctional officers while they were in the process of putting LaRocque in restraints.<\/p>\n

LaRocque is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 25 for his initial court appearance on these charges.<\/p>\n

The maximum penalty for a Class C felony is five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) In the second program in a series on preparation for end of life, Michael R. Williams will speak on pre-planning funeral options, cremation, body donation, and deaths occurring out-of-state.<\/p>\n

The program will be on Tuesday November 10, 2015, at 6-p.m., at the Alfred Dickey Public Library, lower level area.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 James River Valley Library System, Development Director, Bill Kennedy said , Williams will also discuss legal right to disposition and where ashes may or may not be interred.<\/p>\n

Williams will share his experiences of funeral celebrations and changing attitudes toward the traditional funeral rite.<\/p>\n

Mike is a local funeral director and owner of Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel of Jamestown and Edgeley.<\/p>\n

Adult Program classes are held in the lower level Alfred Dickey Library conference room.<\/p>\n

As the series continues, attorney Dan Buchanan on December 1st<\/sup> at 6-p.m., at the Alfred Dickey Public Library, will discuss wills, and estate planning.<\/p>\n

Another program, on November 17th<\/sup> at 6-p.m. at the Stutsman County Library, will feature Justin Batz on the topic of setting up E-mail accounts.<\/p>\n

Kennedy pointed out that the library offers youth programs as well.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Bidding is expected to be finalized in the next two weeks, for the new James Valley Library System\u2019s new bookmobile.<\/p>\n

Development Director, Bill Kennedy says the bookmobile will be custom built according to specification from the library.<\/p>\n

He expects the new bookmobile to be completed and delivered in about a year.<\/p>\n

Also at the Alfred Dickey Public Library the new elevator installation is about wrapped up.<\/p>\n

\u00a0PARSHALL, N.D. (AP) – Authorities say they’re continuing to search for a man who shot another man in Parshall. New Town Chief of Police James Johnssays \u00a0the shooting occurred Thursday morning in an area close to the Parshall School. He says one person was injured and taken to the hospital in Minot. Authorities say schools in Parshall and New Town, as well as several area businesses, were put on lockdown after the incident.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – The McKenzie County sheriff is facing a criminal charge after authorities accused him of misusing his department’s credit card. The Williston Herald reports that Sheriff Gary Schwartzenberger is accused in an affidavit of racking up about $980 in personal charges. Schwarzenberger is charged with misapplication of entrusted property, a misdemeanor. A December 2nd preliminary hearing is scheduled.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A Williston couple is accused of printing counterfeit money in their apartment.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Williston Herald reports that 25-year-old Dylan Shank and 23-year-old Brandi Shank were nabbed when they tried to use a fake $100 bill at a fast food restaurant.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The husband and wife each face felony counterfeiting and drug paraphernalia charges, along with a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia count. They could face 11 years in prison if convicted.

\u00a0STANLEY, N.D. (AP) – A judge has ordered a mental evaluation for a Powers Lake man accused of killing his older brother and leaving the body in a camper for nearly six months.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defense attorney Robert Martin made the request Thursday, saying he is concerned about Aaron Larson’s ability to participate in his own defense.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Judge Richard Hagar ordered Larson to be evaluated at the State Hospital in Jamestown.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-year-old Aaron Larson is accused of killing 46-year-old Terry Larson during a fight in March. Terry Larson’s body was found by a Mountrail County sheriff’s deputy conducting a welfare check.

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Minot police are linking an increase in thefts from vehicles this year to a rise in illegal drug activity.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There were 282 thefts from motor vehicles reported in the city through October – an 84 percent increase from the same time period last year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police Chief Jason Olson says there’s a connection between the thefts and increased illegal drug activity.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities are telling people to keep their vehicles locked, and to report suspicious activity.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A system that brings treated Missouri River water to northwestern North Dakota has experienced a significant drop in industrial water sales as activity has slowed in the oil patch.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Western Area Water Supply project Executive Director Jaret Wirtz says WAWS can weather the period of slow sales because it is ahead on paying off $189 million in state loans.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gross monthly industrial water sales through WAWS have slipped from a peak of more than $4 million in October 2014 to under $1 million in June.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The $480 million water system is still being completed. A five-county area will get water when the project is done. The Independent Water Providers group says the scope of the project should be re-examined given the oil slowdown.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota University System has a new leader in financial administration.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tammy Dolan has been named the system’s chief financial officer. Her position fills an opening left by the departure of former vice chancellor Laura Glatt, who left earlier this month for a job in Colorado.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dolan previously served as the management and fiscal analyst for the state Office of Management and Budget. She has 25 years of experience in state government.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 43,275 deer gun licenses that were made available for this fall’s hunt is the lowest amount in nearly 40 years, due to declining habitat and some recent tough winters.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hunting of mule deer does in the western Badlands also is not being allowed for the fourth straight season, to help the population recover.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But Game and Fish Wildlife Chief Jeb Williams says with another mild winter, that restriction could be lifted next year.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A recent Game and Fish Department survey indicates that the mule deer population in North Dakota’s western Badlands is continuing to recover. Big Game Management Supervisor Bruce Stillings says the buck-to-doe ratio remains stable. Stillings says there are still challenges for continued population growth.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota freshman John Santiago continues to move up the Football Championship Subdivision rushing charts. Santiago has rushed for 1,162 yards in eight games and his average of 129 yards per game ranks him fifth in FCS. He’s the only freshman in the top 30.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) – Kentucky authorities have announced the death of a police officer who was shot in the head by a robbery suspect on Wednesday. In a statement, Kentucky State Police say 33-year-old Richmond Police Officer Daniel Ellis died early today at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The suspect, 34-year-old Raleigh Sizemore Jr., is in custody.

Police say the westbound bus left the highway and hit a bridge abutment.

They are among 200 people France is taking from Italy and Greece this month, 300 next month and 400 in January.

Any gain above roughly 150,000 jobs would likely keep Federal Reserve policymakers on track for a December interest rate hike.
