Valley City (CSi) Permanent flood control in Valley City was outlined, last evening at a public meeting attended by about 50 people.<\/p>\n
Discussed was the proposed options that the city of Valley City and KLJ Engineering are working on.<\/p>\n
Representatives from Valley City and KLJ answered questions about some of the options available for permanent flood protection, the estimated cost and how many years it will take to complete the entire project in the city.<\/p>\n
KLJ Engineer Chad Petersen said the flood walls and levees would protected the city to a level of 24 feet.<\/p>\n
City Administrator David Schelkoph said as funding for the state’s oil extraction tax drops due to lower crude oil prices it may take 3 to 6 bienniums or 10 to 12 years to complete the project in Valley City.<\/p>\n
Funding for the Valley City project comes from the state through the state water commission from the state’s oil extraction tax.<\/p>\n
KLJ Engineer Eric Gilbertson said future meetings will focus on key neighborhoods along the river in Valley City to determind what citizens want for a permanent flood protection structure in their neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) A public meeting will be held on Thursday November 12, 2015, at 7-p.m., at the Valley City Eagles Club, to discuss the long term flood control options in Valley City.<\/p>\n
KLJ Engineer Eric Gilbertson says the meeting will provide an overview of the ongoing planning process and will identify future opportunities to provide input to the process.<\/p>\n
At the meeting will be representatives from the City of Valley City and KLJ to answer questions and discuss concerns.<\/p>\n
