Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2014 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a kitchen fire in one unit of a duplex at 1407 7th<\/sup>Avenue, Southwest.<\/p>\n

Lt. Sheldon Mohr says the call came in at 3:44 a.m., on Wednesday (Dec 12, 2012).<\/p>\n

When the five city fire units, and 27 fire fighters arrived on the scene smoke a flames were coming from kitchen area of the unit.<\/p>\n

Lt. Mohr said a newspaper carrier alerted the residents\u00a0to the fire.<\/p>\n

The occupants escaped, and no injuries reported.<\/p>\n

Extensive fire damage was reported to the kitchen, and smoke damage to the rest of the unit.<\/p>\n

No damage was reported to the adjacent unit of the duplex.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire in under investigation.<\/p>\n

The City Fire Department was on the scene about and hour and a half.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Stutsman Rural Water Users Board of Directors has responded to the City of Jamestown\u2019s proposal, concerning if the City or Rural Water Users serves the area near Jamestown Regional Medical Center, and the Titan Machinery building under construction in that area.<\/p>\n

The City and Rural Water Users representatives met early this week to negotiate.<\/p>\n

At the meeting Rural Water proposed the city pay it a royalty of $1.50 per 1,000 gallons and the city suggested a royalty of about 6 cents per 1,000 gallons.<\/p>\n

Rural Water Manager, Geneva Kaiser, says the two parties were far apart but hoped a compromise could be reached.<\/p>\n

The Rural Water board also reviewed this year\u2019s construction progress and looked ahead to next year\u2019s projects.<\/p>\n

\u3000<\/p>\n

Undated — The parents of two children killed in 2010, in an accident where a semi truck ran a red light on U.S. Highway Two, west of Grand Forks have sued the driver and three companies, including UPS.<\/p>\n

41 year old Kevin Boyer Jr., and 35 year old Catana Boyer, filed the lawsuit October 31, 2012, seeking at least $50,000.<\/p>\n

The driver, 64 year old Steven Nelson, of Jamestown, and two Jamestown companies filed denials last week.<\/p>\n

They also asked that a lawsuit filed by UPS against them be dismissed.<\/p>\n

A hearing in the civil case is scheduled for next month in state district court in Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Dec 11, 2012) \u2013 The Board of Buffalo City Tourism has elected Mitzi Hagar, Rev. Rich Fitzer, Jon Lillejord and Paul Buttenhoff to their Full Board of Directors with terms to begin after the Annual Meeting in January 2013.<\/p>\n

Re-elected was Marlyn Bertsch as a Stutsman County representative.<\/p>\n

Terms are for three years. Fulfilling their terms and leaving the Board of Directors in January are Pam Phillips, Mark Wolf, Corey Bayer and Bob Lulay.<\/p>\n

The Grant and Executive Board members for 2013 are President, Alden Kollman; President-Elect Scott Hare; Treasurer-Beth Dewald; At-Large members Tanea Clocksene and Marlyn Bertsch.<\/p>\n

The Grant and Executive Board meets on the 3rd<\/sup> Friday of every month and the Full Board meet three to four times annually.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCSi-T.V. News) –North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad will deliver his farewell speech on the Senate floor today (Wednesday, December 12, 2012) at 11:00am.<\/p>\n

Senator Conrad will reflect on his time in office and his work for North Dakota and the nation.<\/p>\n

As the out-going Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, he will also discuss the nation\u2019s fiscal challenges and possible solutions.<\/p>\n

Senator Conrad will retire from the Senate on January 2, after 26 years of service.<\/p>\n

\nkilled in Afghanistan was laid to rest, while the family of a
\nsecond soldier who died prepares for his burial.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Services for 41-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde, of Devils
\nLake, were Tuesday in Sidney, Mont., where he grew up. The funeral
\nfor 20-year-old Spc. Tyler Orgaard, of Bismarck, is Thursday in
\nthat city.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Orgaard’s body was brought to Bismarck on Monday and turned over
\nto family.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two members of the Williston-based 818th Engineer Company
\ndied in a roadside bomb attack in southern Afghanistan on Dec. 3. A
\nthird soldier was wounded but is recovering.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gov. Jack Dalrymple asked that flags be flown at half-staff on
\nTuesday and again on Thursday in honor of the fallen soldiers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Darren Linde’s widow says she and her four
\nchildren are “devastated” by his death. But she says they have a
\nlifetime of wonderful memories. The soldier from Devils Lake who
\nwas killed in Afghanistan was buried Tuesday in Montana, while the
\nfamily of another soldier who was killed, Tyler Orgaard, prepares
\nfor his funeral. That service will be Thursday in Bismarck.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have captured three of five boys
\nwho escaped from the Youth Correction Center in Mandan.<\/p>\n

The boys were apprehended after they crashed a minivan in
\nFargo. Authorities say the boys escaped Sunday after assaulting a
\ncorrectional officer.<\/p>\n

GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) – A Minnesota man is accused of forcing his<\/p>\n

girlfriend and her daughter to stand along a North Dakota highway<\/p>\n

in extreme cold.<\/p>\n

Forty-four-year-old Scott Boothman of Warroad, Minn., faces<\/p>\n

three felonies including terrorizing and two misdemeanors including drunken driving. Court documents do not list an attorney for him.<\/p>\n

The Walsh County Sheriff’s Departmentsays Boothman was driving with his girlfriend and her daughter from Warroad to Grand Forks Sunday when he allegedly forced them to stand outside at an Interstate 29 exit near Grafton. The wind chill that night was as cold as 30 degrees below zero. Sheriff Lauren Wild says the woman and girl were not injured by the cold.<\/p>\n

Boothman was arrested after a chase that authorities say reached speeds of 100 mph.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – A Mandan man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed three of his friends has been sentenced to serve eight years in prison.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A jury last month convicted 24-year-old Taylor Berhow on three counts of manslaughter in the deaths last year of 21-year-olds Charles Boehm and Trevor Erie and 22-year-old Eastman Nadeau.\u00a0 Berhow was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Sonna Anderson.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Berhow had a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit for driving when crashed into a tree on Oct. 29, 2011. Berhow pleaded guilty in January but withdrew the plea when Anderson rejected a plea deal that called for a five-year prison term.<\/p>\n

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota business owners interested
\nin capitalizing on the oil boom in North Dakota don’t need to head
\nnorth to get involved. That’s according to former North Dakota Gov.
\nEd Schafer, who gave the keynote speech of a conference about the
\nBakken oil boom. He said the companies that supply labor and
\nmaterials to the oil companies are reaching out to communities
\noutside the boom in hopes of finding cheaper labor and rent.

\nlagging for a North Dakota affordable housing fund. They say more
\nthan $3.5 million in donations are needed by the end-of-year
\ndeadline to fund all of the 26 low-income projects proposed.
\nIndividuals and businesses get a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for
\ndonating.<\/p>\n

\nTheodore Roosevelt National Park this fall as part of an ongoing
\neffort to keep the herd at a manageable level.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Superintendent Valerie Naylor says the backcountry in the park’s
\nSouth Unit is now open to visitors at all times. It had been closed
\nthree days per week during the elk reduction effort Oct. 30 to Dec.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The western North Dakota park is in the maintenance phase of an
\nelk management plan that included large reduction efforts in 2010
\nand 2011. The herd had grown to more than 1,200 animals, when the

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A national animal protection group is offering a $6,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in the deaths of a moose and two pronghorn antelope in central North Dakota.

\u00a0NEW ORLEANS (AP) – It’s being interpreted as a sharp rebuke of Commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHLZ’) handling of the NFL’s bounty investigation. Paul Tagliabue (TAG’-lee-uh-boo) has overturned the suspensions of four current and former New Orleans Saints players. The former commissioner says three of the players did engage in a cash-for-hits program that was detrimental to the league, but he added the team’s coaches were very much involved and had “contaminated” the case.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Bears placed kicker Robbie Gould (gold) on injured
\nreserve with a strained left calf. To replace one of the most

A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that free agent Kevin Youkilis (YOO’-kih-lihs) and the New York Yankees have reached agreement on a one-year, $12 million deal, pending a physical. The 34-year-old Youkilis is coming off the worst season of his major league career, hitting .236 with 19 homers and 60 RBIs in 122 games for the White Sox and Red Sox.
