The area affected is all areas of North Dakota from US 83 west to the Montana border, including US 83. (AP) &#8211; An investigation by an outside agency has found that Stutsman County State&#8217;s Attorney Fritz Fremgen likely violated the county&#8217;s harassment policy by creating a hostile work environment.<\/p>\n<p>The Cass County Sheriff&#8217;s Office investigation found that Fremgen often tried to control some employees by commenting on weight, how to exercise and what foods to eat. (AP) &#8211;\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/und.edu\/features\/2015\/11\/final-nickname-runoff-vote.cfm\">University of North Dakota<\/a><span> backers have selected Fighting Hawks as the school&#8217;s new nickname.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>School officials announced the new name Wednesday. University of North Dakota students, staff and alums were eligible to vote.<\/p>\n<p>UND has been without a nickname since 2012, when the state retired the Fighting Sioux moniker after the NCAA deemed it &#8220;hostile and abusive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A committee considered about 1,200 nickname ideas that were approved by a consultant after a monthlong campaign to solicit suggestions from the public. The group gradually whittled down the list to 15, then seven, and then the final five: Fighting Hawks; Roughriders; Nodaks; Sundogs; and North Stars.<\/p>\n<p>Total votes: 27,378<\/p>\n<p>Fighting Hawks: 15,670 votes (57.24 percent)<br \/>\nRoughriders: 11,708 votes (42.76 percent)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A head-on collision on U.S. Highway 83 killed two people from Underwood and injured a Bismarck man.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Patrol says a car driven by a 36-year-old Underwood man crossed the median and into oncoming traffic about 6 p.m. Tuesday. The car crashed into a Jeep about 6 miles north of Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>The man and a 29-year-old female passenger in the car died at the scene. Authorities did not immediately release their names.<\/p>\n<p>The 38-year-old Bismarck man traveling alone in the Jeep was taken to a Bismarck hospital with undisclosed injuries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The driver of a pickup truck that rolled over in January killing a passenger has been sentenced to one year in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Weller, of Dazey, will begin serving his sentence on Dec. 1. Weller earlier pleaded guilty to one count of negligent homicide.<\/p>\n<p>Weller was driving the pickup on Highway 26 when it went into a ditch, vaulted off an intersecting county road, rolled, and came to rest upside down. The 33-year-old Brent Siverson, of Casselton, was thrown from the pickup and died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Highway Patrol has said alcohol was a factor in the crash and neither man was wearing a seatbelt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A homicide victim in Bismarck was dating the estranged wife of the man believed to have killed him.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities suspect 35-year-old Kirk Kwasniewski of killing 30-year-old Caine Fischer, before later killing himself in Dunn County. No cause of death has been released for either man.<\/p>\n<p>Police say Fischer was dating Kwasniewski&#8217;s wife, who had recently served divorced papers on him.<\/p>\n<p>The woman was treated at a hospital Monday after being choked and punched by Kwasniewski.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; State regulators have approved a $175 million wind farm in north-central North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Service Commission voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve the 59-turbine, 100-megawatt wind farm on nearly 15,000 acres of land between Rolette and Rugby.<\/p>\n<p>Regulators say Rolette Power Development hopes to begin construction in 2016 and have the project finished by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Rolette Power Development says it is attempting to minimize the impact to bald eagles, including working with landowners to remove dead livestock that could attract the protected birds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The University of Jamestown football team put eight players on the All-North Star Athletic Association team.<\/p>\n<p>Three of those were named first team selections: Seniors, QB Beau Eriksson, WR Mike Sena, and LB Jarelle Miller.<\/p>\n<p>Eriksson and Sena leave the Jimmies holding all the major records for their position.<\/p>\n<p>Eriksson broke the school records for attempts, completions, yardage, total offense and passing touchdowns. He threw for over 6,600 yards and tallied 56 touchdowns in his career.<\/p>\n<p>Sena is the school record holder for catches, yardage, and touchdowns. He caught one pass in all 40 games of his career totaling 202 receptions.<\/p>\n<p>Five Jimmies were selected to the second team all-conference; Wes Worthen, Dan Janu, Andrew Kapaun, Jared Mack and Nate Milos.<\/p>\n<p>Of the eight selected only punter Milos returns in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In world and national news&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>WASHINGTON (AP) &#8211; House Republicans are outlining legislation aimed at increasing screenings for Syrian and Iraqi refugees before they enter the United States. It would include a requirement for FBI background checks. But Democrats say the changes would amount to shutting down the nation&#8217;s refugee program. They are accusing Republicans of turning their backs on victims fleeing the horrors of Islamic State terrorists. Some conservatives also oppose the bill, saying it doesn&#8217;t go far enough. But it looks likely to pass when it comes to the House floor tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>PARIS (AP) &#8211; Authorities say the suspected ringleader of the Paris attack and another fugitive wanted for the deadly rampage were not arrested in a massive police raid north of the capital early Wednesday, but could be among those killed. At least two people were killed in the raid, and seven others arrested &#8212; but the prosecutor says he&#8217;s not able to &#8220;give a precise and definitive number for the people who died.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>PARIS (AP) &#8211; France&#8217;s health minister says 195 people remain hospitalized after last Friday&#8217;s terror attacks in Paris. He told Parliament that three of them are still in critical condition and 41 are in intensive care. Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for the attacks, which left 129 people dead.<\/p>\n<p>MOSCOW (AP) &#8211; A Russian military spokesman says officials are developing plans for joint military operations in Syria with France. The statement comes one day after President Vladimir Putin ordered a Russian missile cruiser that&#8217;s deployed in the Mediterranean Sea to cooperate with a French aircraft carrier. The spokesman also says Russian warplanes Wednesday attacked oil facilities in areas controlled by Islamic State militants.<\/p>\n<p>YOLA, Nigeria (AP) &#8211; The group that&#8217;s now been named the world&#8217;s most deadly extremist organization has struck again Wednesday in Nigeria. At least 49 people have been killed in a pair of suicide bomb attacks by Boko Haram (BOH&#8217;-koh hah-RAHM&#8217;). According to the Global Terrorism Index, deaths attributed to the group increased by more than 300 percent last year, to more than 6,600 &#8212; compared with just over 6,000 blamed on the Islamic State militants.
