Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the victims of Tuesday morning\u2019s rollover six miles north of Jamestown on Highway 20 at five mile curve.<\/p>\n

16 year old Baylee Stoppleworth <\/span><\/a>of Kensal lost her life, the driver of the 1998 Dodge Durango.<\/p>\n

Her passenger is identified as 16 year old Maci Olson of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Baylee was not wearing a seatbelt, and Maci was wearing a seatbelt.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The community dinner provided by Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown on Thanksgiving Day served a total of 648 meals, with 326 delivered and 322 meals served in house.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The postal distribution of the newly revised \u201cAre You Prepared\u201d booklets
\nthat was expected to occur late last week was delayed due to a number of
\nproduction and distribution issues.\u00a0 Some of the booklets in the initial
\nprint order were of poor quality and had to be reprinted.\u00a0 The reprinting
\nprocess added several days to the distribution time line.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s now anticipated that the majority of the booklet distribution will
\noccur Friday and Saturday after the Thanksgiving holiday.\u00a0 The 6\u2033 X 9\u2033
\nbooklet will be mailed in an envelope with the return address of the
\nStutsman County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).\u00a0 We ask everyone
\nto look at the return address before possibly discarding a very important
\nresource.<\/p>\n

The revised \u201cAre You Prepared\u201d booklet is a project developed by the
\nStutsman County LEPC and replaces the original booklet, with the
\ncandy-striped cover page, distributed in 2007.\u00a0 The primary purpose of the
\nbooklet is to provide Stutsman County residents information regarding
\nactions that can be taken to save lives, reduce injury and protect property
\nin the event of an emergency or disaster.<\/p>\n

If for some reason, an individual or business does not receive a copy of the
\nbooklet in the mail, hard copies will be available at the Stutsman County
\nEmergency Management and Central Valley Health District offices.\u00a0 In
\naddition, on-line versions are available on the Stutsman County Emergency
\nManagement and Central Valley Health District websites.<\/p>\n

The \u201cAre You Prepared\u201d booklet project was paid for with a Homeland Security
\nPlanning grant.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown City Engineer, Reed Schwartzkoph says, weather permitting, as early as Monday, November 30, 2015, the gates on the Ice House Dam will be “opened” to allow water levels in the rivers to drop to facilitate some City Storm Water Utility Inspections, Repairs and River Bank Survey work. Once these activities are finished, within the following 2 to 4 weeks, the gates will again be “closed” if the weather permits, allowing the water levels in the river to raise.<\/p>\n

Along with the forecasted warmer than normal temperatures over the winter, these adjustments to the river levels may affect ice thicknesses and ice integrity\/stability as the winter progresses.<\/p>\n

The public is therefore advised to exercise caution around the rivers this winter and avoid allowing people and animals on the river ice for the duration of the winter.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Downtown Association President, Lynn Lambrecht says due to some issues with getting lights on the Community Christmas Tree this year, the ceremony that was planned was cancelled, due to the unavailability of the fire department\u2019s ladder truck for decorating.<\/p>\n

However, Northern Tree Service, placed the lights Tuesday afternoon and the switch was flipped.<\/p>\n

She adds, since the lights have already been turned on and in the interest of people getting ready for the holiday and spending time with family, JDA Ambassador Charlie Kourajian and Lynn decided to forego the actual ceremony.<\/p>\n

The JDA apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) As Jamestown Regional Medical Center gears up to offer the Jamestown community another round of the annual New Year, New You community wellness challenge, we would like to share the outstanding results from our 2015 NYNY challenge.<\/p>\n

An impressive 41% were first-time participants with 94% planning to participate in future NYNY events. Each of the 15 healthy lifestyle behaviors discussed showed improvement from the pre-survey data to the post-survey data. 52% of the participants had a weight loss goal and a whopping 445.4 pounds were lost over the 8 week challenge! It was identified that busy work schedules (62.04%) and time demands of family members (42.34%) are the top obstacles to maintaining a healthier lifestyle.<\/p>\n

In the 2015 challenge, 83% were aware of a healthy blood pressure, 73% were aware of a healthy cholesterol reading, and 60% were aware of a healthy blood glucose reading. Less than 30% of participants were aware of an appropriate BMI and less than 60% were aware of the minimum physical activity recommendations for the general public. On a positive note, the percent of participants who reached the minimum physical activity recommendation increased from 34% pre-challenge to 72% post-challenge.<\/p>\n
