\"GrahamMatthew\"<\/a>\u00a0Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police\u00a0 is warning Jamestown residents of a convicted sex offender who has changed addresses in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Matthew Jacob Lee Graham is a 27 year old white male, 5\u201911\u2033 tall weighing 192 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n

He currently has no vehicle.<\/p>\n

He now resides at 120 3rd St. NW Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n

He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakot Risk Level Committee, of the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

His offense is listed as indecent exposure, stemming from exposing himself to a five year old male family friend.<\/p>\n

He was convicted in April of 2004 in Kidder Count.<\/p>\n

Disposition: remanded to the Mesabi Academy treatment facility.<\/p>\n

Graham is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is lagging about 40 percent behind last year at this time.<\/p>\n

On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Major Tim Nauta, said, with a short time left in this year\u2019s Kettle Campaign, those interested in staffing the kettles, and perhaps competitions between service clubs, businesses and others need to make arrangements soon.<\/p>\n

Volunteers bell ringers at the red kettle locations are still welcome in the community through December 24th<\/sup><\/p>\n

Major Tim Nauta said, this year\u2019s goal is to raise $156,000, the same goal as last year, that was not met, that will help provide items for the food pantry, clothing, furniture, help with rent assistance, utility and transportation assistance, emergency lodging and prescription assistance on occasion.<\/p>\n

Donations also go to the Jamestown Salvation Army\u2019s Pathway of Hope Program, that assists families and individuals to become self-sufficient.<\/p>\n

Kettle volunteers work in two-hour shifts from Monday through Saturday during store hours of the businesses where the red kettles are located.<\/p>\n

This season red kettle locations include two spots at the Park Plaza Shopping Center at both entrances to Cashwise. Three red kettles will be located at the Buffalo Mall \u2013 two at entrances to Home of Economy, and a third will be at Sears. The only outdoor red kettle this season will be in front of Wal-Mart.<\/p>\n

The Angel Tree program involves community members visiting the trees.<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s wish lists are on the trees, located at the Buffalo Mall at Home of Economy, and Sears, along with Stutsman Harley-Davidson in Jamestown. The public is invited to take a card, purchase one or more of the gifts on the list and drop them off\u2026unwrapped\u2026 with the card at the Salvation Army, on First Avenue North, by December 10th.<\/p>\n

About 200 children have signed up, and about the same amount signing up for the Christmas Baskets.<\/p>\n

The Angel Tree gifts and Christmas Baskets will be distributed on December 16th.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) The Barnes County Salvation Army Bell Ringing campaign is now underway.<\/p>\n

Co-event coordinator Joe Lunde says for those who get monthly donation requests in the mail, to also drop those off into a kettle in Valley City during the bell ringing campaign.<\/p>\n

Lee Isensee thanked all the people in the community for their generous donations in the last campaign.<\/p>\n

Bell ringers are needed at Leevers Foods, Shopko and Marketplace Foods from 10am to 6pm. Those who want to be a bell ringer should call Joe Lunde at 840-0908 or 845-1974.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Rural Fire Department is recruiting volunteer firefighters.<\/p>\n

Rural Fire Chief, Ben Mauldeing says the need is for four to six new recruits.<\/p>\n

Prospective firefighters do not need to live in a rural area, and the department is open to men and women.<\/p>\n

Maulding adds, it is important for a potential recruit to talk to his or her family and employer before applying as a firefighter, which includes twice monthly drills.<\/p>\n

He adds, that three to four people complete the process of becoming a firefighter.<\/p>\n

The department has received several applicants during open application periods in the past and has been satisfied with the quality and quantity of applicants, said Jakob Barnard, training officer for the department. It hopes to see the same this year.<\/p>\n

Stipends of $20 per hour are paid to trained firefighters for responding to calls but not for attending meetings or drills.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown Rural Fire Department currently has 25 firefighters and three men in the apprentice or training program. Those three apprentices and any additional people recruited in the next months will receive the training necessary to pass the test and become a firefighter 1 under the regulations of the North Dakota Firefighter\u2019s Association.<\/p>\n

The department responds to more than 100 fires each year with the busiest times in the spring and fall.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Police in Fargo are looking into a burglary in which police badges and three guns were stolen from a detective’s home over the weekend.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lt. Mike Mitchell\u00a0 says \u00a0the burglary was part of at least five break-ins reported in the same area of the city. He says police believe the burglars were targeting homes that appeared to be vacant for the holiday weekend.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mitchell says the burglary at the detective’s home is “concerning” because police credentials and weapons were stolen. He says the guns were locked inside a safe that was taken during the burglary.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mitchell says other items stolen from area homes include jewelry and electronics.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota oil regulators say more than 17,000 gallons of saltwater have spilled from a disposal well near Watford City.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division says Wyoming-based True Oil LLC on Monday reported that the 17,640 gallons were released, contained and recovered at the disposal well located about 15 miles southwest of Watford City. The cause of the spill is listed as a pump leak.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The division says a state inspector has been at the site of the release.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Saltwater, or brine, is an unwanted byproduct of oil production. It is many times saltier than sea water and can easily kill vegetation.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Downtown merchants in Minot want help from a city economic development fund as they deal with infrastructure upgrade projects.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minot Area Development Corp. has requested half a million dollars from the city’s Magic Fund to pay down interest on debt for downtown businesses disrupted by the projects. The fund’s screening committee meets Dec. 9.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 infrastructure projects include replacement of water and sewer lines, repaving of streets and the construction of two parking ramps. The work has shut down a number of streets, affecting traffic flow and parking.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 At least 55 downtown businesses that have been affected by the projects could be helped under the development corporation’s grant application. Each would get up to $3,000 to buy down interest on loans.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – This is one check the Salvation Army is counting on to clear.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Salvation Army officials in Minnesota and North Dakota say a couple dropped a $500,000 check into a red kettle outside a Cub Foods in suburban Minneapolis on Saturday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Spokeswoman Annette Bauer says it’s the biggest check ever in the Minneapolis area and likely the biggest ever in the two states.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bauer says the couple has a history of donations and prefers to remain anonymous. She said they alerted Salvation Army officials that the check was coming and asked them to open the kettle and remove the check before volunteers who count donations could see their names.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bauer called it “an astonishing gift” and that the division was running about a half-million dollars behind the same point last year.<\/p>\n

LE BOURGET, France (AP) – It’s the largest group of world leaders ever to stand together — and the issue that’s brought them to the summit near Paris is climate change. As they began two weeks of talks Monday, leaders said an ambitious deal to curb global warming can send a message to terrorists, by showing what countries can achieve when they are united. The gathering comes two weeks after militants linked to the Islamic State group killed 130 people around Paris. Fears of more attacks have prompted extra-high security and a crackdown on environmental protests.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PARIS (AP) – The leaders of several of the countries taking part in the climate summit in France are calling on economies around the world to put a price on carbon dioxide emissions, as a way to fight global warming. The appeal comes from the heads of France, Germany, Chile, Mexico, Ethiopia and Canada, along with the World Bank. They want to see some kind of mechanism that would essentially charge a price for each ton of carbon dioxide produced by industry. It could be a simple tax, or a more complex system involving a carbon credit.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A county prosecutor in Minneapolis says he’s filed the toughest charges possible against four men accused of a racially motivated attack on five protesters. The protesters were shot last week outside the city’s 4th Precinct, where demonstrators have set up camp since 24-year-old Jamar Clark died in a confrontation with police officers. None of the protesters suffered life-threatening injuries. The prosecutor says the felony charges he filed against the four men carry tougher potential sentences than any kind of hate crime-related charge he could bring.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – Firefighters in Fort Worth believe they’ve found the body of 76-year-old woman whose car was swept away in floodwaters in North Texas last week. They found a submerged car with a body inside, about a mile downstream from where Zenola Jenkins’ vehicle washed off a highway bridge Friday. Eight people died in flooding during storms in Texas over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NEW YORK (AP) – Kid’s technology company VTech says the personal information of about 5 million of its customers and their children may have been stolen by hackers. The company, based in Hong Kong, disclosed the breach of a customer database late last week, but didn’t say how many people could be affected until\u00a0 Monday. The affected database includes the names, birthdates and genders of child users. VTech makes a variety of popular tech-related toys including tablets and smartwatches.
