Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Bob the Triceratops, the largest and most complete triceratops fossil found anywhere to-date, \u00a0has been on exhibit at the Barnes County Museum in Valley City since June 2014. \u00a0Word has been received\u00a0 that it will be leaving for auction sometime before December 20th. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n
Discovered in Bowman County in 2003 on the Craig and Bobbi Eglund Elk Ranch, Alan Komrosky and Hell Creek Relics excavated the triceratops fossil that is over 70% complete in bone count and 90% in bone mass. \u00a0It took Alan and crew 11 years to bring the fossil they named Bob to exhibition and premiered it at the Barnes County Museum in Valley City, ND, in June 2014.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Museum Director, Wes Anderson says , “Wewill be very sorry to see Bob leave our facility. \u00a0It has been a wonderful draw for visitors and an incredible opportunity to host a world class exhibit such as Bob.” \u00a0<\/div>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting public comments on an environmental study for a water pipeline project in Cooperstown.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The plan calls for five miles of 9-inch PVC pipe to be placed from the Cooperstown wells to the city’s water treatment plant. The federal government is paying for $2.2 million of $2.9 million project.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The pipeline is part of the corps’ environmental infrastructure program. Similar projects have been completed in Fort Abercrombie and Minot.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The directive is in accordance with a proclamation by President Barack Obama. Monday is designated as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The surprise attack by Japan on Dec. 7, 1941, on the U.S. Navy base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii killed or wounded more than 3,500 Americans and pushed the U.S. into World War II.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Trial has been delayed until next year for a Mandaree man accused of killing another man with his bare hands on the Fort Berthold Reservation.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marcel Chase is accused of killing Toby Young Bear a year ago during a fight while the two men were using methamphetamine. In October he was deemed competent to stand trial after a lengthy psychiatric evaluation.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chase was scheduled for a three-day trial beginning Dec. 15. His attorney asked for and received a continuance, saying he needed more time to prepare and that he also wanted a longer trial.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors did not object to the defense request, and U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland rescheduled trial to begin Feb. 8. Hovland said a five-day trial is anticipated.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison on a federal drug conspiracy charge in North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shawn Machipiness pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Authorities say the ring involved more than 500 grams of methamphetamine that was distributed primarily in North Dakota, Minnesota and Washington state.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Machipiness was arrested in Grand Forks in August.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An attorney for Machipiness asked for a sentence of 10 years. The government argued for a term of more than 19 years.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson said in court that the sentence reflects the nature of the offense and the defendant’s prior history of drug-related crimes.<\/p>\n

TIOGA, N.D. (AP) – A massive man camp in western North Dakota has closed, and its operator might look into turning part of it into single-family homes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 Capital Lodge located outside Tioga closed just before Thanksgiving. Fewer than 50 workers were occupying the multiunit facility licensed for as many as 2,000 beds.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CEO Mike Boudreau says the company will look at options for the facility’s future in the spring. He says they might renovate 80 of its large units into single-family residences and convert the complex into a mixed-use development.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mike Sizemore is development director for Williams County. He says the county is down to fewer than 2,000 man camp beds after once having 12,000 licensed. He says transforming a man camp into a community would be unique.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Some officials in Minot are proposing that the city rewrites its flood-related regulations in an effort to ease any future hikes in flood insurance premiums for residents. The Minot Daily News reports the city’s Planning Commission is recommending the change. City engineer Lance Meyer says the new language would comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency mandates.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0Wade Moser had served as the chairman of the 12-member North Dakota Outdoor Heritage Fund board since it was established in 2013.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Moser says he’s stepping down as chairman because “one person shouldn’t be in charge the whole time.”

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The board elected vice-chair Jim Melchior to a one-year term as chairman and voted board member Jon Godfread to a one-year term as vice-chair.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The fund gets a percentage of oil and gas production taxes. The goal is to restore land affected by energy production and to develop such things as fish and wildlife habitat and outdoor recreation areas.

CANNON BALL, N.D. (AP) – A weekend bison sale at a North Dakota ranch drew buyers from as far as Idaho, Missouri and Texas.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 About 800 bison were auctioned Saturday at the Bev and Ernie Fischer ranch near Cannon Ball, as part of efforts to downsize their herd. It was one of the biggest bison sales in the country this year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More than one-fourth of the nation’s bison are raised by ranchers in the Dakotas. Adam Hoffman of Sisseton, South Dakota, bought nearly one-fifth of the bison for sale Saturday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The sale came during a time of extraordinary demand for bison, with the animals bringing the highest prices in a decade.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Fire departments in North Dakota trying to buy new equipment are being encouraged to apply for federal funding.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says eligible fire departments should apply for grants that can help provide critically needed equipment to improve the readiness of first responders.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Federal Management Agency is making the money available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which is meant to help fire departments and emergency medical service organizations purchase response equipment, personal protective equipment and vehicles.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Mandan Rural Fire Protection District was granted $87,000 through the assistance program last year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heitkamp is the daughter of a volunteer firefighter. She says in North Dakota, 96 percent of first responders are volunteers and this funding supports their safety.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota health officials have awarded nearly $94,000 to a number of schools and regional education associations for new and established suicide prevention programs.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Department of Health says results from a 2014 state survey released last month revealed startling rates of suicidal ideation and attempts among North Dakota’s youth. The survey showed that 13.5 percent of high school students had made a plan to end their lives while 9.4 percent of high school students had attempted suicide within the last year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department awarded funding to Century High School and Bismarck High School for a program that teaches students and educators how to support those struggling with emotional challenges.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A tribal nonprofit organization serving schools within the Turtle Mountain Reservation is also among those receiving state funding.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – As the weather gets colder, North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is cautioning winter anglers to be careful as they head out onto the ice.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Enforcement Chief Robert Timian says ice conditions shouldn’t be judged by appearance alone, especially this time of year because water edges become solid before the center.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Anglers should drill test holes as they make their way onto a lake, and then use an ice chisel to check thickness while moving around.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Snow can hide cracks, weak areas and open water. Timian says anglers should avoid cracks, pressure ridges, slushy or dark areas, and areas around partially submerged trees.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Winter anglers also should wear a personal flotation device and carry ice picks or screwdrivers to pull themselves back onto the ice should they fall through.<\/p>\n

Doug Baldwin had two TDs and Thomas Rawls rushed for a score as the Seahawks won their third straight game. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was limited to 18 yards on eight carries. Green Bay and Minnesota are now tied atop the NFC North at 8-4.<\/p>\n

Blaine Gabbert threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to Torrey Smith in overtime after running for the tying TD late in regulation as the San Francisco 49ers beat the Chicago Bears, 26-20.<\/p>\n

Brock Osweiler threw for one touchdown and Danny Trevathan intercepted Philip Rivers and returned it 25 yards for a score, leading the Denver Broncos to a 17-3 victory against the hapless San Diego Chargers. Osweiler is 3-0 while filling in for injured Peyton Manning.<\/p>\n

\u00a0NEW ORLEANS (AP)- The Carolina Panthers are 12-0, but it took a lot of work. Cam Newton, who was 28 of 41 for 331 yards, tossed five TD passes and twice had to lead the Panthers back from fourth-quarter deficits as the New Orleans Saints suffered their fourth straight loss 41-38 to fall to 4-8.

Lt. Col. Kristi Beckman, director of public affairs at the Combined Air Operations Center at al-Udeid air base in Qatar, says there was no indication that the coalition had killed Syrian troops. Syria says planes attacked an army base in an area mostly held by the Islamic State group.
