Jamestown (CSi) On Sunday Victory Lutheran Church in Jamestown dished up nearly 500 meals at the church\u2019s Community Christmas Dinner.<\/p>\n

The meal was free of charge, as those in attendance feasted on turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, corn, green bean casserole and homemade desserts.<\/p>\n

The meal\u2019s coordinator, Kris Meidinger, says the volunteers served about 300 dinners and delivered another 171 to people in their homes, more than usual.<\/p>\n

Meidinger says just some small problems, with roasters popping a couple of breakers.<\/p>\n

Pastor Shawn Bowman adds, the church couldn\u2019t put on this dinner every year if it weren\u2019t for the hard work of the congregation.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The New Rockford man, accused of shooting and killing Donald “Donnie” Perleberg and shooting and wounding Mary Seiler on September 6, 2015 at a wedding dance at the New Rockford Eagles Club, on Friday was bound over for trial on seven charges. Those include murder.<\/p>\n

Southeast District Judge Thomas Merrick has ruled there was probable cause to believe that 50 year old David Troske, had committed the crime after a preliminary hearing in Southeast District Court in New Rockford.<\/p>\n

Troske entered not-guilty pleas to murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possessing a gun in a bar where alcohol is served.<\/p>\n

Eddy County Sheriff Paul Lies testified during the preliminary hearing that Seiler said to him during questioning that Troske came up behind her and Perleberg where they sat at a table with others during the wedding dance. Troske asked Seiler who she was going home with. When she replied alone, Troske allegedly pulled a pistol and shot Perleberg in the back of the head and fired two shots into Seiler before sitting down for a drink at the table.<\/p>\n

Troske was arrested at the scene.<\/p>\n

No trial date has been set. Troske remains in custody on $2 million bail.<\/p>\n

Valley City, (CSi) The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce held the annual Christmas In The Valley Button Prize Event, at Dutton\u2019s Parlor, on Thursday, December 17, 2015.<\/p>\n

Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kay Vinje thanked all of the area businesses and staff members who made the 2015 Christmas In The Valley Button Prize event a success this year.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The University of Jamestown has announced the Master of Science in Clinical Counseling program, to begin in the fall of 2016.<\/p>\n

The program will be headed by Dr. Jennifer Lipetzky, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

She says, “We are excited to roll out the Clinical Counseling program. We have received a lot of feedback regarding the community\u2019s need for an increase in mental health treatment options. Jamestown is a great place to train because of the nearby State Hospital and South Central Human Service Center that will offer both practicum and internship opportunities.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Dana Wallace will be assisting with the program,saying, “Currently, there is a great need for mental health services throughout the United States. I am eager to be part of a program that will be training counselors to meet that need.”<\/p>\n

The Clinical Counseling program prepares students to work in mental health settings such as: hospitals, substance abuse centers, mental health centers, university counseling centers, residential treatment centers, and private practice.<\/p>\n

The program will educate students in principles and practices of diagnosis, treatment, referral, and prevention. The students will develop skills in diagnosis and assessment, evidence-based counseling\/psychotherapy techniques, group processes, cultural diversity, development, crisis management, marriage and family counseling, addiction and career counseling.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lipetzky adds, “This program will benefit the Jamestown community, as well as other communities across the state.”<\/p>\n

The University of Jamestown was established in 1883 and is ranked as a top regional school in both US News and World Report and The Princeton Review. The school features development of the whole person through its distinctive Journey to Success experience.<\/p>\n

Brady Carlson from Jamestown, ND, Megan Bidwell of Clearwater, MN, and Tatum Williams of Staples, MN have been awarded Wilson Scholarships to attend University of Jamestown next fall.<\/p>\n

The Wilson Scholarship provides two full tuition and two $14,000 annual scholarships for four years, and was established\u3000in memory of the late Dr. John L. Wilson and his wife, Palma.<\/p>\n

To be eligible for the scholarship, each student must write an essay, participate in two separate interviews, have a minimum of 3.5 GPA, and a 24 composite ACT or a 1090 SAT.<\/p>\n

Brady Carlson was awarded a Full Tuition Wilson Scholarship, and is the son of Ryan Carlson and Leah Carlson.<\/p>\n

Megan Bidwell was awarded a $14,000 Wilson Scholarship. Megan is the daughter of Randy Bidwell and Terri Larson, and plans to pursue a degree in nursing.<\/p>\n

Tatum Williams was awarded a $14,000 Wilson Scholarship. Tatum is the daughter of Dale and Susan Williams, and plans to pursue a degree in biology.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patrol says 42-year-old Jammie Petras of Sidney was killed Friday afternoon about a mile south of Alexander, in McKenzie County.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Troopers say Petras’ pickup collided with the rear of the semitrailer after the driver of the semi slowed for a school bus that was making a turn.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The driver of the semi, 52-year-old James Stanik of LaPorte, Indiana, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man is accused in federal court of dealing large amounts of methamphetamine in North Dakota and Minnesota.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Damian Mata, of Bloomington, Minnesota, is charged in North Dakota with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He has pleaded not guilty.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the ring involved more than 500 grams of meth. A detention hearing for Mata is scheduled Tuesday in Fargo.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The child pornography trial for a former corrections officer with the Williams County Sheriff’s Department has been delayed again.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The federal trial of 49-year-old Steve Brooks is now expected to begin Feb. 23. It was first scheduled for September and then mid-December.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brooks faces three charges, including sexual exploitation of a minor. Authorities accuse him of downloading child pornography and surreptitiously video recording a girl.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary DeLorme says the trial was postponed because defense attorneys asked for more time to prepare.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Oil and Gas Impact Grant Fund was projected to collect $6 million monthly from oil taxes over the next two-year budget cycle.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Land Commissioner Lance Gaebe says the fund is collecting only about half of that now, due to a drop in oil activity.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gaebe says a plan needs to be developed “to moderate the pace of grant awards.”
