HIGHS IN THE LOWER 20S.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From the University of Jamestown web site:<\/p>\n<p><strong>JAMESTOWN, N.D.<\/strong> \u2013 University of Jamestown director of athletics Sean Johnson announced that Josh Kittell is the school&#8217;s new head football coach.<\/p>\n<p>A 2008 graduate of the University of Jamestown (formerly\u00a0Jamestown College) and a native of Garrison, Kittell is currently a member of the North Dakota State football coaching staff and will remain with the Bison through the FCS national championship game January 9.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to welcome Josh back to his alma mater to lead the Jimmie football program into the future,&#8221; said Johnson.\u00a0 &#8220;He was one of our greatest leaders on the field as a player, did an excellent job as our offensive coordinator in 2014 and we have confidence that he will be successful as our next head coach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is such a pleasure to have followed Josh&#8217;s development from a student athlete through a solid progression of coaching positions since his playing days as a talented Jimmie quarterback,&#8221; said University of Jamestown President Dr. Robert Badal.\u00a0 &#8220;I am really glad to see his return home, and I look forward to his leadership of the program and to the excitement that he will bring to our campus community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year old Kittell currently serves as Offensive Quality Control assistant at North Dakota State.\u00a0 The Bison are 12-2 and will play for their 5<sup>th<\/sup> consecutive FCS national championship when they take on Jacksonville State January 9.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Josh has been a tremendous fit with our offensive staff,&#8221; said North Dakota State head football coach Chris Klieman.\u00a0 &#8220;His organization and attention to detail will make him an outstanding head football coach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before joining the NDSU staff this summer, Kittell was the Jimmies&#8217; offensive coordinator in 2014.\u00a0 Jamestown averaged just over 411 yards per game of total offense that season, the best mark for the program since Kittell&#8217;s senior season as a player in 2008.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During his two years as the starting quarterback the Jimmies posted a combined record of 16-5 and led Jamestown to the 2007 NAIA playoffs.\u00a0 As a junior in 2007, the Jimmies posted a 9-2 record and claimed the Dakota Athletic Conference championship.\u00a0 He completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,320 yards and 22 touchdowns.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a senior in 2008, Kittell led the Jimmies to a 7-3 record while setting single-season school records for passing yards (2,938), passes attempted (395), passes completed (249), and total offense (3,345).\u00a0 He set the single-game record for touchdown passes with 6 and most consecutive passes completed with 12 against Peru State in the 2008 season opener.\u00a0 He finished second in the nation in total offense, sixth in passing yards per game (293.8) and 22<sup>nd<\/sup> in passing efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating from the University of Jamestown\u00a0in 2008 with a degree in business administration, Kittell played professional football in Germany for the Franken Knights.<\/p>\n<p>He returned to North Dakota to help start the football program at Dakota College at Bottineau, serving as offensive coordinator in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Kittell then moved to Minot State where he served as a graduate assistant from 2010 to 2011 and then as a full-time assistant for the Beavers during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.\u00a0 As a graduate assistant he worked with quarterbacks, outside linebackers and safeties.\u00a0 As a full-time assistant he served as wide receivers coach as well as kick-off return and punt return coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>His older brother, Joe, is the head men&#8217;s basketball coach at the University of Mary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Public Schools announces that parents will need to call 252-1950, the administrative office, to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">set up an appointment<\/span> to register your kindergarten student. The registration of <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ALL<\/span><\/b> kindergarten students for the 2016-2017 school year will be held January 4<sup>th<\/sup> through 22<sup>nd<\/sup> from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. by appointment only at the district administrative office, 207 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Avenue SE.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The kindergarten program is a District-Wide program. (AP) &#8211; U.S. Census Bureau data show North Dakota is leading the nation in population growth and the number of residents in the state is at an all-time high.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bureau&#8217;s most recent estimate released Tuesday put the state population at 756,927 in July, or an increase of 16,887 residents in one year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Census data show North Dakota&#8217;s total population jumped about 2.3 percent over the past year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the early 2000s, North Dakota was one of only a few states with a declining population. The state began to reverse that trend in 2004 because of increased oil activity, and the population has grown every year since.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the state&#8217;s economy and thousands of unfilled jobs are driving the population gains, despite a slowdown in drilling activity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Mandan man who sexually abused a 6-year-old girl has been sentenced to 1\u00a0 1\/2 years in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bismarck Tribune reports that Ivan Carlos Borrero Valez was sentenced Monday in South Central District Court.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Valez was charged with felony gross sexual imposition in March and changed his plea to guilty in September.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man who was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle died in a rollover crash near Watford City.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say the man on Tuesday was traveling on a county gravel road about 15 miles north of Watford City when failed to maintain control of his pickup truck after he crested a hill and traveled onto a snowy and ice-packed portion of the roadway.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol says the man&#8217;s pickup truck slid into the ditch, struck a barbed wire fence and overturned. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on 41st Street Northwest in McKenzie County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The time of the crash is unknown.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Highway Patrol did not immediately release the man&#8217;s name Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney&#8217;s recommendation to give city workers a paid day off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day failed after city commissioners ended up in a tie vote.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOne commissioner was absent and four commissioners voted 2-2.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mahoney says racial tensions across the country and a number of other factors are why he suggested the paid holiday for workers. A House panel Tuesday released a letter that was submitted by Farook to support his application for a fianc\u00e9 visa for Tashfeen Malik. It said a meeting of the families was planned for October 2013 in Saudi Arabia. (AP) &#8211; A recording from a police sergeant&#8217;s belt tape suggests New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez was inebriated the night police responded to a complaint at a hotel where she was hosting a holiday party last week. A clerk called dispatchers to report noise and that someone was throwing bottles from a hotel balcony. The governor&#8217;s speech is halted and lilting in the audio. A hotel security employee and the sergeant agree that the governor is inebriated. Martinez has already apologized after telling police dispatchers to call off officers and trying to find out who complained about the noise.
