HIGHS IN THE LOWER 20S.<br \/>\nLOWS AROUND 10.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a car fire about 3:32-p.m., Tuesday at 805 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue, Southeast, in the driveway of the residence.<\/p>\n<p>Lt. Sheldon Mohr says smoke was coming from the engine compartment when the four fire units, and 25 firefighters arrived at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The fire department extinguished the fire, which caused extensive damage to the car&#8217;s engine compartment, with the cause undetermined.<\/p>\n<p>No injures with the city fire department on the scene a half hour.<\/p>\n<p>Lt. Mohr adds that,t<span><span>wo of three tenants left homeless in a recent condominium fire in\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Jamestown will not be returning to the same homes.<\/p>\n<p>Mohr says following an investigation the cause of the fire was ruled to be undetermined.<\/p>\n<p>About 30 firefighters and five units from Jamestown Fire Department responded to the blaze reported at 9:49 p.m. December 18th, staying on the scene until 3 a.m. the next day. Three townhomes burned and others were evacuated along the 2nd Avenue Southwest cul de sac that borders the James River.<\/p>\n<p>The families were assisted by the Buffalo Valley Chapter of the Red Cross. Caseworkers are still working with the families.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce Baumgartner, who occupied the center condominium that completely burned, has found a new apartment in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Five members of the Brandon Iverson family are hoping to get back into their condo in early January.<\/p>\n<p>The three members of the Courtney Humes family would have had a much longer wait, stemming from a hole in the roof of their condo that exposed the interior.<\/p>\n<p>However, the family had been planning a move to a home in Spiritwood before the fire happened, however, and will follow through with that plan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Boat and Water Safety Class is set for today, Wednesday December 30, 2015, at James River Family Fitness.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer\u2019s Pipestem Dam Manager Bob Martin said, this time there will be ONE session at 10-a.m., at the second floor classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Items to be discussed include Life Jackets, Hypothermia, Boat Safety Equipment, Ice Safety &amp; Rescue.<\/p>\n<p>Those participating include the Army Corps of Engineers, North Dakota Game and Fish, Jamestown Fire Department, and James River Family Fitness.<\/p>\n<p>There is no charge to attend, and while the class is geared for 5-12 year olds, all are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Ice thickness on Jamestown area bodies of water continues to be unsafe, especially for vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show of CSi Cable 2, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer\u2019s Pipestem Dam Manager, Bob Martin said, the water release from Jamestown Dam is only 13cfs, which began on December 21<sup>st<\/sup>, using the 10 inch by-pass value, and the release is expected to continue at that rate until spring. The water is at 1429.8 feet.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the ice cover is unsafe for passage pointing out open water south of the island, to the west. Other open areas were noted, and NO VEHICLES should be on the ice.<\/p>\n<p>At Pipestem Reservoir open areas exists as no water releases have been made since September 17<sup>th<\/sup>, with the water level at six inches below normal freeze up at 1442.5 feet. Later this winter there may be a release of five cfs from Pipestem.<\/p>\n<p>He urges people to<strong> stay off the ice on the two reservoirs and the Jamestown River in Jamestown<\/strong>, as the open water exists, and the ice is thin, due to a lack of a steady cold temperature scenario up till now.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll be in touch with contractors in the next week to determine frost depth, which in the spring will effect runoff.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that soybean field planting last season means less stubble in the fields to hold back runoff water.<\/p>\n<p>Next week, Martin will begin taking snow samples to determine the amount of moisture in the snow pack, which will continue every two weeks or so until spring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Meetings on permanent flood control in Valley City have been set, with neighborhood meetings.<\/p>\n<p>KLJ Engineer Eric Gilbertson says the meetings will focus on neighborhoods along the Sheyenne River to see what citizens want for a permanent flood protection structure.<\/p>\n<p>Gilbertson says Valley City residents they have three options\u2026Do Nothing, have Clay Levees or Flood Walls.<\/p>\n<p>The first meeting is for residents living <strong>&#8220;A&#8221;<\/strong> along the Sheyenne River from the hospital bridge north to the Hi Line Bridge on January 14, 2016, at 7pm inside the Regional Technology Center.<\/p>\n<p>Other neighborhood flood control meetings include January 21, 2016, for residents who live <strong>&#8220;B&#8221;<\/strong> from the hospital bridge to the powerhouse in Valley City at 7pm in the Regional Technology Center.<\/p>\n<p>Two meetings on January 28, 2016 will be for residents in area, <strong>&#8220;C&#8221;<\/strong> from the powerhouse south to Bettin\u2019s Nursery at 6pm and a second meeting for residents <strong>&#8220;D&#8221;<\/strong><b> <\/b>from Bettin\u2019s Nursery south to the 8th Avenue Southwest bridge at 8pm inside the Regional Technology Center.<\/p>\n<p>The final two meetings will be held on February 4, 2016, for residents <strong>&#8220;E&#8221;<\/strong><b> <\/b>living along 8th Avenue Southwest bridge to Interstate 94 starting at 6pm and for residents<strong> &#8220;F&#8221;<\/strong> living south of Interstate 94 that meeting will start at 8pm inside the Regional Technology Center located along Winter Show Road in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>Following the last meeting, KLJ engineers will submit a recommendation to the city during a regular city commission meeting in March on the proposed plan for permanent flood protection for the city of Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>KLJ Engineer Chad Petersen adds that construction on Phase II of the permanent flood protection project is set to begin in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Barnes County residents are invited to a community forum on January 6, 2016, at the Hi Liner Activity Center, at 6-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Critical Infrastructure \/ Key Resources Program &amp; Security Manager ND Department of Emergency Services, Darin Hanson will give a presentation on Barnes County crime statistics, North Dakota crime trends, terrorism, cyber- crime, personal &amp; cyber security and active shooter incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson and Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin will have staff present to answer questions from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The 10<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Polar Pig, &#8220;Walk The Plank,&#8221; to support JRMC\u2019s Hospice program.<\/p>\n<p>Don Wegner says the event will be held at Stutsman Harley Davidson, in Jamestown, on Saturday January 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a live and silent auction, from 9-a.m., to 1-p.m.,<\/p>\n<p>Registration and ABATE Chili Cook-Off begins at 10:30-a.m.,<\/p>\n<p>Walk the Plank starts at 1:30-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) United Blood Services will partner with local law enforcement and firefighters for &#8220;Team Law and Team Fire,&#8221; for the first ever Jamestown Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The drive is set for January \u00a07-9, 2016, at the Jamestown Civic Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Battle of the Badges blood drive competition allows donors to choose which agency they want to donate blood for either Team Law or Team Fire. Donors will receive a free Battle of the Badges T-shirt while supplies last.<\/p>\n<p>To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old (16 year old donors need minor donor permits which are available at the blood drive), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. (AP) &#8211; An Allegiant airplane flying from Florida to Wisconsin made a safe emergency landing in North Dakota after having mechanical issues.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The plane with 107 passengers and six crew members on board landed safely at Fargo&#8217;s Hector International Airport about 8:30 p.m. Monday.\u00a0 Emergency responders said the plane had a deicing problem.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The plane was en route from Orlando, Florida, to Appleton, Wisconsin. Allegiant says passengers were put on a Tuesday morning flight from Fargo to Appleton and given $100 credit for future travel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRANDIN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A state fire official has been unable to determine what exactly caused the blaze that destroyed a feed mill in eastern North Dakota in October.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Deputy State Fire Marshal Jerry Crane\u00a0says \u00a0he is listing as undetermined the cause of the fire that consumed the wood and metal-framed building at Hubbard Feeds in Grandin.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crane says the blaze began underneath a wood floor.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An employee discovered the fire and initially attempted to put it out using extinguishers. Authorities have said windy conditions contributed to the intensity of the fire.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Firefighters from at least nine departments responded to the scene, about 30 miles north of Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Minot woman and her boyfriend are accused of leaving her two preschoolers unattended in a car for about an hour while they drank and gambled in a bar.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 5-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy weren&#8217;t harmed in the incident that police say happened about 10 p.m. Monday. The temperature at the time was about 5 degrees, but the car had been left running.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A judge on Tuesday set bond for 22-two-year-old Chelsea Erie and 25-year-old Daniel Dumas at $5,000 each.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Erie and Dumas each face a felony child neglect charge that carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison. (AP) &#8211; Bond has been set at $7,500 for a Williston man accused of threatening Berthold&#8217;s police chief with a handgun.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minot Daily News reports that 32-year-old Kevin Imsland allegedly made the threat Monday afternoon when Chief Al Schmidt pulled up next to his vehicle because he was driving recklessly. Imsland allegedly glared at Schmidt, took a handgun from the center console of his vehicle and placed it on the dashboard.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Schmidt says he found two other guns in the vehicle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Imsland faces a felony terrorizing charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Heidi Heitkamp is meeting with local emergency responders in Casselton to mark the two-year anniversary of a fiery train derailment that led many residents to evacuate their homes.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Dec. 30, 2013, accident happened when a train carrying soybeans derailed and caused a train carrying crude oil to derail one mile west of Casselton. There were no injuries, but it caused massive explosions and left a cloud over the city.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heitkamp is scheduled to tour the Casselton Volunteer Ambulance Service Wednesday morning. She plans to present the president of the organization, Ken Habinger, with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in recognition of Habinger&#8217;s commitment to the safety of his community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Dale Sandstrom has announced he won&#8217;t seek re-election in 2016. (AP) &#8211; Officials say attendance rose slightly at the boyhood home of famous band leader Lawrence Welk after the state took over the site this year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Site manager Diane Rogness\u00a0says \u00a0about 850 people visited the site this year. That&#8217;s up from about 650 in 2014.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature two years ago approved $100,000 to purchase the property from Welk&#8217;s nieces.
