\u00a0Road report….<\/p>\n

Bismarck (CSi)\u00a0 Thursday afternoon the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP)\u00a0 issued a Travel Alert<\/b> for eastern North Dakota due to snow and blowing snow creating reduced visibility. Areas included in the Travel Alert <\/b>are the cities of Fargo, Grand Forks, Devils Lake, Valley City, Jamestown and surrounding areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Travel Alert <\/b>means conditions are such that motorists can still travel <\/b>in these areas, but should be advised of rapidly changing conditions. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.<\/p>\n

All travelers are encouraged to monitor road conditions as weather conditions occur and use caution while traveling. For road information, call 511 from any type of phone or go to the website: www.dot.nd.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The NDDOT works hard to keep travelers informed of road conditions. However, the road conditions are not reported 24 hours a day but updated every day from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time, including holidays. It\u2019s important to remember that the conditions may vary from what is being reported.<\/p>\n

Jamestown city crews will begin snow removal in the downtown area beginning approximately at 11 p.m. today and continuing during the night.<\/p>\n

Downtown merchants and all public\/private schools are asked to have their sidewalks shoveled by 9 p.m. Thursday.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Late Thursday afternoon Bismarck police were still trying to locate the person they believe made a threat to Bismarck State College, prompting the school to go on lockdown.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school canceled its remaining Thursday afternoon and night classes as officers continue investigating.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 College President Larry Skogen says the school received a “credible threat” from the FBI that a student had threatened to shoot up the library with a machine gun. The school went on lockdown just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials are asking that no one come to campus until an all clear is issued.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bismarck police say no one has been injured and everyone is safe at this time. They say they are still working to locate a suspect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Bismarck (CSi) The State Aeronautics Commission\u2019s monthly report shows that airline boardings in North Dakota finished 2015 with a five percent decrease from the all-time record in 2014.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Regional Airport boardings in December of 2015 were 936, a monthly record, compared to 639 in December of 2014, an increase of 46 perecent.<\/p>\n

In November of 2015 there 763 boardings in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Regional Airport Authority Chairman Jim Boyd says the accomplishment is due to the support of travel Agents, SkyWest Airlines\/staff, Airport Staff, and air travelers.<\/p>\n

Carrington (CSi) A vote on Feburary 16, 2016 will decide if a plan will be approved or not, that will replace Carrington\u2019s current elementary school.<\/p>\n

The planned facility will be about 73,000 square feet, and includes a cafeteria, multi-use gym, and locker room and the cost is estimated to be around $23.5 million.<\/p>\n

Additional public informational meetings will be held in the future to field questions and get more about the project.<\/p>\n

WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) – The Highway Patrol has identified an Idaho man who died in a crash on a frosty highway in the western North Dakota oil patch.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say 26-year-old Ethan Connell, from Wendell, Idaho, lost control of the car he was driving on U.S. Highway 85 in McKenzie County Wednesday morning. His car drifted into the wrong lane and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Tioga man driving the pickup truck suffered undisclosed injuries.
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A man accused of firing at least eight bullets into a vehicle in Minot has pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors and been sentenced.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-three-year-old DeAlvis Harris will serve a little less than two years in prison for aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He could have faced up to 21 years in prison had he been convicted on all of the charges against him.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities said Harris fired at the car on a residential road as it fled the scene of an altercation on Sept. 23, wounding two men inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The number of work-related deaths in the North Dakota oil patch in 2015 dropped from the previous year.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Occupational Safety and Health Administration data show three such fatalities last year, down from seven in 2014 and 10 in 2013.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 OSHA Area Director Eric Brooks says \u00a0it’s unclear whether drop is due to better safety or fewer workers.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Workforce Safety and Insurance Director Bryan Klipfel says that as the workforce has declined in the oil patch due to the industry downturn, that agency has seen a corresponding drop in the number of injured worker claims.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Safety experts are hoping the decrease is due to their efforts. North Dakota Safety Council CEO Chuck Clairmont says that despite the decrease in oil activity, safety trainings haven’t dropped.<\/p>\n

\u00a0RIVERDALE, N.D. (AP) – Lake Sakakawea has frozen over at one of the latest dates on record, an indication of the mild winter.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Corps of Engineers declared the Missouri River reservoir frozen on Wednesday, Jan. 13. The lake is considered completely frozen when the water freezes at the intake structure at Garrison Dam.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The latest freeze date for the lake occurred Jan. 18, 2012. Wednesday’s freeze is the fourth-latest in history.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown head football coach Josh Kittell has announced his coaching staff. Jason Challeen, Dan Smith and Travis Titus return to join newcomers Joey Blackmore, Carlton Littlejohn and Andrew Shirek.<\/p>\n

All three new members of the Jimmie coaching staff have ties to North Dakota State which just won its fifth consecutive FCS championship.<\/p>\n

Blackmore will serve as UJ defensive coordinator after serving as a defensive assistant for NDSU the past two seasons.<\/p>\n

Littlejohn was a star linebacker for North Dakota State from 2011-14. A Minneapolis native, Littlejohn played in 59 of 61 possible games and made 43 starts as part of four straight Missouri Valley Football Conference and NCAA Division I FCS national championship teams.<\/p>\n

Shirek has been a member of the North Dakota State strength and conditioning staff for three years. He also served as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Montana for one year and a performance specialist intern at EXOS Athletes Performance Institute in Phoenix.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The University of North Dakota has received 16 proposals to design a logo for the school’s new Fighting Hawks nickname.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND spokesman Peter Johnson says a committee is scheduled to start reviewing the proposals on Friday. The group eventually will send a recommendation to interim UND President Ed Schafer for approval.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Grand Forks school adopted the predatory bird mascot last November to replace the Fighting Sioux nickname that had been deemed offensive by the NCAA and retired.<\/p>\n

The Dow industrials have been more than 250 points higher in afternoon trading. Wednesday, the market posted its worst drop since September. Energy companies are leading the way Thursday, with Exxon Mobil and Chevron each jumping about five percent.

(AP) – Still no word on who holds the three winning tickets from last night’s Powerball drawing — but a spokesman for the California lottery says it makes sense to wait before coming forward. He says a windfall like this is the start of a “new journey” — and that the winners should line up lawyers, accountants and financial planners first. A California 7-Eleven sold one of the three winners in the $1.6 billion drawing. The other two were sold in Florida and Tennessee.

(AP) – Officials with the Oregon county where an armed group is occupying a national wildlife refuge have told the group they can’t use county facilities to hold a community meeting. The armed men plan to hold a meeting tomorrow in Burns to explain themselves and inform residents when they will leave. The Oregonian reports that officials in Burns, about 30 miles from the refuge, said the meeting can’t be held at the Harney County fairgrounds or any other county facility. Organizers of the community meeting have said it will go on even if the county does not provide a location.

Federal Magistrate Judge Linda Walker said Thursday that there’s a risk Abigail Kemp would flee or be a danger to the community if released. Federal prosecutors have accused Kemp and Lewis Jones of teaming up to rob half a dozen jewelry stores in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and the Carolinas.
