Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Dec 19, 2012) The new 9-1-1 Dispatch Center equipment has been installed .<\/p>\n

The next generation equipment was installed at the Law Enforcement Center in Jamestown with no interuption in service on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Officials say there will be adjustments to the system over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

Some of the new features benefit the deaf and hearing-impaired.<\/p>\n

Future 9-1-1 features will include the ability to send text messages.<\/p>\n

The Stutsman County equipment comes with a price tag of $163,000.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s pairing with Richland County,with that county paying equipment costs of $158,000.<\/p>\n

Costs were paid from 911 funding accumulated and saved over years by both counties.<\/p>\n

Stutsman County\u2019s system was put in service in 1999, and was an analog telephone system, created in the 1970s and 1980s.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Dec 19, 2012) — The Jamestown Stutsman County, United Way Campaign for 2012 is at the mid-point, and has reached about 27% of the goal, or about $53,000.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s (Dec 19, 2012) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, spokesperson<\/p>\n

Megan Aldinger said the figure is in line with last year\u2019s donations.<\/p>\n

\u3000<\/p>\n

Also on our show, Lynette Stoddart said, the kick-off event this year was excellent, with a hoop shoot, cake walk and other activities, noting a great turnout from the community, and so many wonderful sponsors who helped make the event possible.<\/p>\n

However, every year has posed a challenge, but officials are very hopeful the community will pull through and help the United Way to reach it\u2019s goal to give back to the community in endless ways.<\/p>\n

Our goal is a little higher this year, based on a greater need in the community, at $200,000.<\/p>\n

There are numerous ways to still donate, with a payroll deduction through employers, or call 952-UWAY (8929) or mail a donation to PO Box 85 Jamestown ND 58402.<\/p>\n

Find the United Way on facebook \u2018United Way of Stutsman County\u2019 and someone will get in touch with you about donating.<\/p>\n

United Way has 22 agencies benefiting from donations, varying across a wide variety of needs. Those include SAFE Shelter, SART, he Jamestown Arts Center, the Senior Companion program, and Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and many more.<\/p>\n

The United Way Board is comprised of volunteers. Currently there are nearly 20 people on the board, who are listed on the Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Individuals who donate give varying amounts, which are all appreciated.<\/p>\n

A few of the major sponsors include: UTC in Jamestown , Cavendish, North Dakota State Hospital, Unison Bank, First Community Credit Union, Newman Signs and Butler Machinery.<\/p>\n

Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Dec 19, 2012) — The annual Santa Cops and Kids event on Monday (Dec 17, 2012) in Valley City, included 40 children, shopping with their sponsor, and taking part in other activities.<\/p>\n

The kids shopped for presents and wrapped the gifts, had their photos taken with Santa, and were taken for pizza.<\/p>\n

Police say a number of area businesses and individuals assist with the activities, including wrapping gifts for the children or contribute money donations for the program.<\/p>\n

The event helps less fortunate area children celebrate Christmas while having the experience of gaining trust and friendships with law enforcement personnel.<\/p>\n

Participants Santa Cops and Kids included: Valley City police Department, Barnes County, and RansomCounty Sheriff\u2019s Offices, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, state Task Force, Lisbon and Valley City Fire Departments.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Dec 19, 2012) — An Open House was held Wednesday afternoon at the National Buffalo Museum for Felicia Sargeant, who is stepping down as the Museum\u2019s Director,<\/p>\n

She says her last day at the Museum is Friday December 21, 2012.<\/p>\n

She told friends and supporters that leaving after 10 years in the position was a tough Decision, adding that after awhile “everyone needs a change.”<\/p>\n

Ms Sargeant also thanks the community for its support over the years.<\/p>\n

Ms. Sargeant has been selected as the new Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, Executive, starting her new position, after the first of the year.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Dec 19, 2012) — A Buffalo City Tourism news release says, the Jamestown College Knight, the Lincoln Lion and Dakota Thunder Junior together raised $620.88 in a couple of short hours this week at Walmart and Coborn\u2019s.<\/p>\n

All proceeds will benefit the mission of the Salvation Army.<\/p>\n

Accepting the challenge to \u2018ring the bell\u2019 for charity brought the highest honor in 2012 to the Jamestown College Knight who alone raised $219.85 standing in front of Sears at the Buffalo Mall for an hour.<\/p>\n

That is an all time high for that location according to Lt. Mitch Brecto of the Salvation Army.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP Dec 19, 2012) \u2013 Taxable sales and purchases in North Dakota during July, August and September grew nearly 23 percent compared to the third quarter of last year, to more than $6.7 billion.<\/p>\n

Tax Commissioner Cory Fong says North Dakota\u2019s wholesale and retail trade sectors were strong performers in the third quarter. Thirteen of 15 industries reported growth during the third quarter of 2012. Two sectors reported a slowdown: educational, health care and social services, and transportation and warehousing.<\/p>\n

The western oil patch cities of New Town, Tioga and Watford City all saw large percentage increases in taxable sales over the year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Fargo police have arrested a suspect in the robbery of a bank on the city’s south side.

\n\u00a0 54-year-old Timothy Patrick McKenna of Fargo was arrested by police at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 McKenna is awaiting charges for robbery, after he allegedly entered Gate City Bank on Monday, indicated he had a gun and demanded cash.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chief Keith Ternes says police received more than 40 tips after the release of bank video footage.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ternes says some of the stolen money has been recovered, but he did not specify how much, adding only that “a substantial amount” was taken from the bank.<\/p>\n

\u00a0NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) – Schools in New Town were in lockdown yesterday while law enforcement responded to a barricaded situation in a neighborhood near the high school. An FBI spokesman said Wednesday that a man wanted by law enforcement in Colorado on narcotics charges had barricaded himself inside a residence in New Town. That’s located on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Kansas man who owns a custom combining business was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to taking more than $9,000 in corn from an Emmons County farmer.

\n48-year-old Kevin Clark pleaded guilty on Monday to felony theft of property.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Clark is the owner of American Quality Harvesting and Trucking, also known as Clark Farms, of Hesston, Kan. The company was in North Dakota in late summer harvesting for farmers.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 South Central District Judge Cynthia Feland ordered Clark to repay the farmer for the corn and pay $1,950 in fines and court fees.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Feland also allowed Clark to have his probation transferred to Kansas.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A longtime employee of a North Dakota credit union has been ordered to pay back more than $130,000 she took from the company. Georgia Schwartz of Glen Ullin, was charged in federal court with embezzlement and misapplication from a credit union. She pleaded guilty in October. A judge yesterday also ordered Schwartz to forfeit two homes that she owned.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Potato stocks in North Dakota are up 29 percent over the year.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The latest figures from the Agriculture Department show that growers, dealers and processors held 16.8 million hundredweight of potatoes in storage on Dec. 1. Current stocks represent 67 percent of production, down from 69 percent in 2011.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Russets account for 67 percent of the total, the same as last year.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cramer is resigning from the commission at the end year of the year after he was elected to the U.S. House in November. He will be sworn into office on Jan. 3.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – State data show the amount of natural gas that was burned off as a byproduct of oil production is dropping as crude production rises.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Department of Mineral Resources statistics show natural gas production in October was at record levels, at more than 796,000 million cubic feet daily.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Records show the percentage of natural gas that was flared in October was 30 percent. The record high for flaring was set in September 2011 at 36 percent.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say the amount of natural gas that is captured is increasing as new processing plants and gathering systems are built.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Energy Information Administration says less than 1 percent of natural gas is flared from oil fields nationwide, and less than 3 percent worldwide.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s workers’ compensation agency is offering safety training to companies in the state’s booming oil patch to try and lessen the number of job-related deaths and injuries.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officials say injuries are happening most often to employees who have less than a year on the job.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Workforce Safety and Insurance data show 29 workers were killed on the job in the fiscal year that ended in July. Thirteen of the fatalities occurred in oil patch-related occupations, and seven of those deaths were from vehicle crashes.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WSI director Bryan Klipfel says North Dakota’s robust economy led by its booming energy sector has spurred an increase in the number of employers, workers and claims. And he says oil patch-related occupations often are more dangerous than other jobs.\u00a0
