An engineering problem that allows condensation to drain onto the school roof is also a concern, and will be addressed at the same time a new heating system that is easier to maintain.<\/p>\n<p>The board announced the JHS principal hiring committee to include School Board members Roger Haut and Brenda Roemmich, with John Conway as the administrative representative, along with middle school Principal Ryan Harty to be the Central Office representative. Lynn Kosel and Shelly Moltzen will be the two teachers on the committee.<\/p>\n<p>The position was announced on Feb. 2 and a recommendation will be given to the board on March 21.<\/p>\n<p>The school board meeting was recorded by CSi 10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL, with showings starting on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) District 12 Democratic State Representative Jessica Haak has announced her re-election bid, and will be seeking the endorsement of the District 12 Dem-NPL party this weekend during the district convention in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Haak stated that it is an honor to serve the citizens of District 12 and she plans to continue that if re-elected to another term.<\/p>\n<p>During the 63rd and 64th legislative session, Haak served on the Finance and Tax committee and the Agriculture committee. Haak was recently appointed to serve on the North Dakota Human Trafficking Commission and continues to work on passing legislative bills for adoptive parents work leave rights.<\/p>\n<p>Haak says she will continue working included childcare and protecting victims of stalking and domestic violence. (AP) &#8211; A pastor at a Minot church says it&#8217;s planning to step up security after a man was caught stealing in the church office while a service was being held.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police arrested a 22-year-old Minot man a few blocks from Our Savior Lutheran Church after getting a report Sunday morning of a man entering the office uninvited. Authorities say the man had stolen property from the church and also stolen credit cards from a separate incident.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Rev. Paul Krueger, senior pastor at the church,\u00a0says \u00a0the church is looking into boosting its security, including adding surveillance cameras and motion detectors.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The church was also broken into last spring, but Krueger said the church suffered no significant theft then.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Geneseo man has been sentenced to a year in jail and two years of probation for a 2014 vehicle crash in Sargent County that killed a passenger.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-one-year-old Jason Neiber initially was charged with criminal vehicular homicide but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless endangerment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Neiber also was charged with drunken driving in the November 2014 crash that killed his friend, 20-year-old Kyle Nelson, of Lidgerwood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A district judge is weighing whether to move the sex crime trial of Sawyer&#8217;s former superintendent and high school principal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Charles Soper is accused of sexually abusing three teenage boys, and faces a total of eight charges including human trafficking, gross sexual imposition and child pornography. He resigned from the school after his arrest last May.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Soper has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. He could face life in prison without parole if convicted of the more serious allegations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0 Defense attorney Eric Baumann says Soper&#8217;s trial should be moved out of the region because media coverage has tainted the jury pool. Prosecutor Kelly Dillon says that&#8217;s not necessarily the case.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Judge Doug Mattson will rule later.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO\u2014 Former U.S. Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., has been told that he&#8217;s one of several hundred people included on a &#8220;hit list&#8221; that has been circulating online in a video sent to terrorist operatives by the Islamic State militant group known as ISIS.<\/p>\n<p>Conrad learned his name was included in a video posted Sunday to the Internet for followers of the &#8220;Army of the Caliphate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A woman who monitors terrorist sites on the Internet saw the video soon after it appeared Sunday and promptly contacted Conrad&#8217;s daughter, a friend.<\/p>\n<p>Conrad&#8217;s name was on the list, which included the names of FBI agents, CIA agents, Air Force officers and other officials.<\/p>\n<p>The name of Hillary Clinton, the former U.S. secretary of state, U.S. senator and current Democratic presidential candidate, was next to Conrad&#8217;s on the list, Conrad said.<\/p>\n<p>The list apparently was sent out in response to the killing of a man who was a cyber expert for ISIS, a terrorist organization in the Middle East and Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Since retiring from the Senate, Conrad has served on the bipartisan Commission on Retirement Security and Personal Savings. He also serves on several company boards of directors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A rising Missouri River in the Bismarck-Mandan area has some residents nervous, but the National Weather Service says there&#8217;s little risk of major flooding.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The \u00a0river is the highest it&#8217;s been since July 2011. Flooding that year caused property damage, forced some people from their homes and led to a large-scale sandbagging operation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heavy spring snowmelt and rains swelled the river that year. The rising river right now is due to snowmelt and ice jams, and meteorologist Ken Simosko says that&#8217;s normal for this time of year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The river is still a couple of feet below flood stage. Simosko says no significant flooding is expected &#8211; but he adds that residents should be &#8220;on the watch&#8221; until Wednesday, when the river should be fully open<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>AP\u00a0 \u00a0Police in Fargo are asking people to display blue light bulbs outside their homes in honor of their fellow officer who was killed last week. Officer Jason Moszer died Thursday of a single gunshot wound during a standoff with a suspect at a house near downtown Fargo. He left behind a wife and two children. The Fargo police department will have blue bulbs available in the lobby of their downtown headquarters starting Tuesday morning.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Public housing authorities in North Dakota are getting $2.1 million in federal funding to improve their properties.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says the money is going to 15 housing authorities across the state, including in Fargo, Williston, Minot, Cass County and Burleigh County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The money is through HUD&#8217;s Capital Fund Program, which gives money each year to about 3,100 public housing authorities across the country.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The bustling oil patch community of Watford City is opening its new $53 million school.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Classes were beginning in the new facility on Tuesday, with students returning after the President&#8217;s Day holiday. State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler says the new school is &#8220;a demonstration of the power of community cooperation.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Baesler, Gov. Jack Dalrymple and U.S. Sen John Hoeven were on hand Monday for a school dedication ceremony.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school houses grades 7-12. The former high school is now being used as a middle school, with grades 4-6. The elementary school houses grades K-3.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The school includes a theater, multimedia facilities, computer labs and new classrooms.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Watford City&#8217;s 700-plus enrollment is more than double that of 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota education officials say high school seniors may qualify for up to $6,000 in college tuition through state-sponsored scholarships.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler says academic and career and technical education scholarships are available to students who meet the criteria. Scholarship aid is distributed in chunks of $750 per semester or $500 per quarter, with a $1,500 annual limit and a $6,000 maximum payment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To be eligible for an academic scholarship, a high school student must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 on a scale of zero to 4.0. A qualifying student needs a minimum score of 24 on the ACT exam, and to have no grade lower than &#8220;C&#8221; on any course that is required to qualify for a scholarship.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The application deadline is June 3.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown High School football could be switching classifications starting with the 2017-18 season.<\/p>\n<p>JHS activities director, Jim Roaldson told the Jamestown Public School Board on Monday, the North Dakota High School Activities Association readjusted the formula used to determine classification and came up with 14 Class AAA teams, 10 AA, 32 A and the rest will be nine-man teams, he said. The JHS move down to AA from AAA is not final.<\/p>\n<p>He said the formula is based on male enrollment size and as it is right now our enrollment numbers appear to have us at a AA level in football as well as Devils Lake under the new plan.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Jamestown hosts two annual cross country invitational meets that are open to any team, he said.
