Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called about 9:38 a.m., Wednesday, to the Hong Kong Buffet, at 605 25th<\/sup> Street Southwest in Jamestown, to a kitchen fire.<\/p>\n

Jamestown City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says when the units arrived at the unoccupied building, smoke was coming from the roof vents.<\/p>\n

The ladder truck accessed the roof vents.<\/p>\n

Fire fighters broke open the front and rear doors, for access.<\/p>\n

When they gained entry they discovered the small fire in the kitchen area.<\/p>\n

He says the heat detecting system, which sprays a dry chemical, was activated but was unable to contain the fire.<\/p>\n

The cause is listed as the cooking unit being left turned on.<\/p>\n

MDU and Otter Tail arrived at the scene to attend to the utilities.<\/p>\n

Chief Reuther says there was minimal fire damage, but extensive smoke damage to the interior of the building.<\/p>\n

No injuries reported.<\/p>\n

The units cleared the scene at 10:27 a.m.<\/p>\n

There were six city fire units and 26 city fire fighters on the scene.<\/p>\n

Restaurant manager Tom Guo said it is too soon to say how long the restaurant would be closed, but cleanup would take some time, saying their fire insurance company will be contacted.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) At 11:46 a.m. the Jamestown City Fire Department was called to what was called in as a stove fire at 1511 Gardenette Drive, Number 3.<\/p>\n

City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says, the fire was out when the units arrived, as the fire department made sure the fire was out, and extracted smoke.<\/p>\n

No fire damage was reported.<\/p>\n

Five city fire units and 25 fire fighters responded, and were on the scene until 11:59-p.m<\/p>\n

Valley City The Valley City Fire Department Tuesday evening about 10:45-p.m. responded to a chimney fire outside a home at 6th Avenue Northeast.<\/p>\n

Fire Chief Gary Retterath says a poorly installed chimney may have led to the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

The fire was contained outside the home and no interior damage was reported.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown student Colt Mavity is joining with students from Dickinson and the University of North Dakota to drive water to Flint in order to help with the current water crisis.<\/p>\n

Flint has been in the midst of a water crisis since April 2014 and have been unable to use primary water sources due to water contamination.<\/p>\n

Mavity was inspired by former NBA player Rasheed Wallace.<\/p>\n

Mavity is traveling\u00a0Thursday, filling his vehicle and other students vehicles with water in Michigan, donating the water to those in need.<\/p>\n

Mavity hopes it shows individuals that we\u2019re all here to help when others are in need.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) – Authorities say a North Dakota man is dead after a powered hang glider crashed while taking off from an airport in the Phoenix area.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Buckeye police say the only person aboard the aircraft when it crashed Tuesday afternoon at Buckeye Municipal Airport was the pilot, 55-year-old James George III of West Fargo, North Dakota, who was killed.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say cause of the crash isn’t immediately known and that Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Administration are investigating.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The head of North Dakota’s biggest state agency faces misdemeanor charges for allegedly impeding an investigation into the drowning death of a child.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Human Services Director Maggie Anderson was charged Friday with conspiracy to obstruct a government function and refusing to perform a public duty. The McHenry County state’s attorney also filed similar charges against four other agency officials.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A child caregiver earlier was charged with negligent homicide in connection with the death of a 5-year-old girl who died weeks after being found unresponsive at a swimming pool in Velva last summer. CHICAGO (AP) – Hillary Clinton is campaigning Wednesday in Chicago with prominent black lawmakers and the mother of a black suburban woman who died in her Texas jail cell last year. It’s an effort to help Clinton appeal to minority voters. Sandra Bland was found dead days after she was pulled over by a white officer in Texas last year. A medical examiner ruled her death a suicide, though her family has questioned that account and how the stop was handled.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UNDATED (AP) – An endorsement of Bernie Sanders by a rapper is raising tensions between the Clinton and Sanders campaigns heading into pivotal contests in Nevada and South Carolina. Rapper Killer Mike told Sanders supporters Tuesday that “a uterus doesn’t qualify you to be president of the United States.” The rapper, whose real name is Michael Render, also suggested that Clinton would be slow to move on issues of racial justice.

But now, one of the Republican senators who voted for him says he would not vote to approve the same judge if he were to be nominated by President Barack Obama to succeed Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Ted Cruz says the Senate shouldn’t confirm any nominee in a presidential election year. He also says it’s “very different” voting for an appeals court judge as opposed to a Supreme Court justice.

He confirms that the explosion was caused by a car bomb and targeted military vehicles that were carrying armed forces personnel. The Turkish official says seven prosecutors have been assigned to investigate the attack, which he described as “well-planned.”
