Jamestown (CSi) Buffalo Mall is sponsoring their 11th annual Business Leaders Soup Spectacular Cook-off contest to raise funds for the James River Senior Center Home Delivered Meal Program. The date has been set for Saturday, March 5th, 2016 from 11:00am \u2013 1:00pm in the Buffalo Mall commons area.<\/p>\n
On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 the Buffalo Mall\u2019s Bev Dawson said, community business leaders and service clubs will enter their favorite soup.<\/p>\n
For $5.00 the public is invited to taste the soup entries and cast their vote for<\/p>\n
the best soup in Jamestown. Additional votes are $1 each. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Home Delivered Meal Program.<\/p>\n
She pointed out that chili will also be available.<\/p>\n
In conjunction with the soup cook-off, ServeYES! will host a benefit bake sale for the Home Delivered Meal Program.<\/p>\n
Entertainment will be provided by R & C School of Rock.<\/p>\n
Also on our show the Senior Center\u2019s Rhonda Sahr said, in 2014 there were 21,196 home delivered meals through the program. She added that the suggested cost of $4 per meal. She said to prepare the meal it costs around $9 per meal, so fundraisers are needed to help with costs.<\/p>\n
She added that 45 volunteers participate in the program, with seven routes Monday-Friday, and five routes on Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) – A federal jury has convicted a man accused of hiring a hit man to kill two of his associates in a dispute over business dealings in the North Dakota oil patch.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Spokesman-Review newspaper of Spokane reports the jury returned its verdict Thursday after a day of deliberation in the case of James Henrikson, who was accused of hiring Timothy Suckow to kill Spokane businessman Doug Carlile and Kristopher Clarke, associates tied to North Dakota’s oil-field business.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Henrikson’s federal trial was moved from Spokane to Richland because of extensive publicity over the 2013 shooting death of Carlile at his upscale home.\u00a0 Clarke was bludgeoned at a North Dakota truck stop.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Henrikson told police that Carlile, a self-employed contractor, owed him nearly $2 million, though prosecutors said there was no evidence of that.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A program aimed at helping North Dakota communities deal with the effects of energy development has been suspended due to slumping oil activity.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Trust Lands Commissioner Lance Gaebe (GAY’-bee) says the Oil and Gas Impact Grant Fund earlier was projected to collect $140 million for the current two-year budget cycle. He says it’s only projected to collect $28.6 million now due to low oil prices and a drop in oil production tax revenues.

Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base released a statement saying the package was identified by a Naval Security Force member at the main gate\u00a0Thursday \u00a0morning. The base initially went on lockdown, but officials are now allowing outbound traffic through another gate. The air station says Naval Security Forces and both military and Fort Worth police explosives disposal teams are responding to the incident.

He says he feels as if he’s been camping in the woods for a year. But he says he could go another 100 days or even another year if he had to. In his final news conference from the International Space Station Thursday, Kelly said the toughest thing is being isolated from loved ones.
