News) &#8212; Authorities report, the body of 49 year old Darrin Ackerman of Jamestown was found in Jamestown Reservoir Monday (Dec 12, 2011).<\/p>\n<p>Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Victory Lutheran Brethren Church, Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eddyfuneralhome.com\/?menuitem=1045&amp;siteid=110&amp;action=1&amp;value=12&amp;obituaries_action=2&amp;obituaryid=110300&quot;\" target=\"_blank\">Obituary<\/a>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His body was recovered by the remote unit, used in the search last Friday, operated by the Valley Water Rescue team from Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County Sheriff, Chad Kaiser said, the discovery was made shortly after 10-a.m., in area near a pressure ridge, on the reservoir in about 11 feet of water, closer to the shore than officials had anticipated..<br \/>\nHe says on Monday morning, two blood hound dogs were brought to the reservoir on by members of Valley Water Rescue of Fargo, and led searchers to an opening in the ice near where searchers believed Ackerman had gone through the ice. The same area a cadaver dog, had evidently picked up a scent last week.<br \/>\nThe sonar device was the operated under water in that area, by members of the Valley Water Rescue team out of Fargo, and the body was discovered.<\/p>\n<p>Kaiser says, an autopsy will be conducted by the North Dakota Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Bismarck, likely Tuesday, to determine the cause of death. He adds that the autopsy results usually takes one to two weeks to complete.<br \/>\nThe discovery marks the end of an 8 day search, that began on Sunday evening (Dec 4, 2011), at, and around Jamestown Reservoir.<br \/>\nSearchers suspended looking for 49 year old Darrin Ackermann of Jamestown this past weekend, for some much need rest.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Fendt explains the operation, and the equipment being used under water at the reservoir consisted of a \u201crobot,\u201d equipped with sonar, and a camera, operated remotely under the ice cover. Fendt says the unit was lowered through an ice hole, and scanned the bottom of the reservoir. The unit was also rotated under water.<\/p>\n<p>The search started the evening of December 4, 2011, when Ackermann failed to be located that evening, after heading out to fish earlier in the day. His ice house and vehicle on the ice were abandoned.<br \/>\nSearches have included, underwater searches by divers, aerial searches, underwater cameras, sonar, and the use of a cadaver dog. Searches of the shoreline and cabins in the area also were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>Searchers included, Jamestown Fire Department divers, plus a dive team from Fargo, along with Valley Water Rescue of Fargo, along with the cadaver dog. News Dec 10,2011) &#8212; The search for Darrin Ackermann of Jamestown will resume on Monday morning, with two remote-operated underwater units, that were employed in the search on Friday.<br \/>\nOn Friday the remote controlled sonar\/camera equipped unit was underwater about 4 and and half hours continuing the search.<\/p>\n<p>The search has been going on since last Sunday, when Ackermann was reported missing by family, Sunday night, after going ice fishing on Jamestown Reservoir Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Searchers have been on the scene at the reservoir all this past week during daylight hours, with divers, underwater cameras, and a cadever dog, along with an aerial search, and land and cabin searches, all with no success, so far.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>DEC 9 UPDATES:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Robot&#8221; Searches Underwater, At Res.<br \/>\nFor Darrin Ackermann<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. Other agencies involved included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office, including reserve deputies, and Jamestown Police.
