SNOW AMOUNTS OF UP TO AN INCH<br \/>\n\u00a0POSSIBLE&#8230;MAINLY ACROSS THE NORTH AND SOUTH CENTRAL&#8230;BY DAYBREAK<br \/>\n\u00a0SATURDAY.<br \/>\n\u00a0MAINLY DRY FOR THE WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH A SLOW WARMING<br \/>\n\u00a0TREND.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0\u00a0Authorities have \u00a0arrested a Valley City State University faculty member in Valley City, which occurred\u00a0on March 22, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>33 year old Long Man \u00a0Ram Lau faces a charge of unauthorized use of personal identity and possession of stolen property.<\/p>\n<p>Lau\u00a0is employed\u00a0as an Assistant Professor in the VCSU Social Science Department.<\/p>\n<p>The Valley City Police report from Chief Fred Thompson says in part, that a search warrent was obtained for\u00a0 Lau&#8217;s apartment and that\u00a0in excess of two hundred credit cards and\u00a0gift cards in various names were located and seized, along with multiple computers, electronic storage devices, suspected counterfeit merchandise and medicines.\u00a0 Also seized was a large amount of financial paperwork.<\/p>\n<p>An amended search warrent was later served for Lau&#8217;s office at VCSU where additional credit and gift cards, computers, and electronic storage devices were seized.<\/p>\n<p>Lau was placed under arrest for Unauthorized Use of Personal Information and Possession of Stolen Property.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken to the Barnes County Correction Center where he was booked.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation continues and is expected to be lengthy and include forensic examinations of the computers and electronic storage devices.<\/p>\n<p>The Valley City Police Department will work with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and ICE in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City Police is asking the public for any information in the case by calling VCPD at 701-845-3110, as additional individuals involved in the case are being sought.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation began in mid March when a victim checked her credit score and discovered irregularities and contacted Fargo Police, filing a crime report.<\/p>\n<p>A tipster, who worked for a Valley City employer contacted, and supplied police with photos of many credit cards with various names and believed to be illegal, alleged to have been taken at\u00a0 324 6th Avenue Southwest, Apt #4\u00a0in Valley City.\u00a0\u00a0The resident of the apartment \u00a0was identified as Long Ram Lau.<\/p>\n<p>The photos and information supplied by the informant were not solicited by Valley City Police.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the subsequent investigation of information obtained from the photos, Valley City Police Lt. Sweson was able to identify and locate one victim, and when contacted determined that the individual had recently been\u00a0 contacted by a credit card company referencing a newly issued credit card in their name.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City (CSi) Those interested in running for two seats on the Valley City Commission during the June 14, 2016 elections, have until Monday April 11, 2016 to return a petition with the required number of signatures.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline is 4-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>More information at City Hall in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>Two City Commission seats are up for election, now held by Mary Lee Nielson, and Madeline Luke.<\/p>\n<p>In Jamestown, three city council seats are up for election, those presently held by Steve Brubakken, Dan Buchanan, and Charlie Kourjian. (AP) &#8211; Police say a fourth person in the Fargo-Moorhead area has died from an apparent heroin overdose.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A \u00a020-year-old man died Tuesday night on the Minnesota side of the Red River in Moorhead. Police Lt. Tory Jacobson says first responders tried to revive the man with an opiate antidote but didn&#8217;t succeed.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jacobson says it&#8217;s likely the heroin was laced with another drug, making it more deadly, similar to a string of recent overdoses in the area responsible for three other deaths in the past month.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jacobson says that paramedics within the past week also have responded to two other heroin overdoses in Moorhead in which the opiate antidote was administered successfully.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fire that heavily damaged a commercial kitchen in Fargo was caused by oily rags that spontaneously combusted.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo Fire Marshal Ryan Erickson\u00a0says the rags in a garbage at Square One Rental Kitchen ignited and the flames spread.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Feb. 8 fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the building and its contents. No one was in the business at the time, and no one was hurt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A woman accused of visiting hundreds of medical facilities around the country to obtain unnecessary prescription drugs with her Medicare benefits has been sentenced to 15 months in custody and ordered to pay back more than $107,000.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say 52-year-old Lowie Christie caused about 1,830 claims to be submitted to Medicare for prescription drugs between January 2007 and July 2013. She&#8217;s accused of obtaining prescriptions from four North Dakota hospitals.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christie pleaded guilty in December to health care fraud. Defense attorney Somah Yarney said during sentencing Wednesday that Christie grew up in an abusive home and was addicted to painkillers for 30 years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christie apologized for her &#8220;bad behavior&#8221; and told a judge she is grateful for a Fargo chemical dependency center that is helping to treat her addiction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Gov. Jack Dalrymple has accepted Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem&#8217;s recommendation to delay removal action against a sheriff facing misdemeanor charges in the death of a Ward County jail inmate.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-five-year-old Dustin Irwin, of Mandaree, died at a hospital in 2014 after going into cardiac arrest. The state Corrections Department determined that jail officials failed to give Irwin proper supervision or medical treatment.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutor Seymour Jordan petitioned Stenehjem to initiate the process of removing Sheriff Steve Kukowski. State law allows for the governor to remove certain public officials in some situations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple spokesman Jeff Zent says the governor agrees with delaying action until after the conclusion of criminal proceedings. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Stockmen&#8217;s Association is giving a $3,000 reward to an unnamed informant who helped crack a cattle-killing case in Oliver County.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The group also is giving $1,500 each to the two ranch families affected by what Brand Board Chairman Jeff Schafer calls &#8220;a senseless shooting.&#8221; That money comes from a donation by Dakota Community Bank and Trust.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nine cattle belonging to John Dixon and Miles Tomac were gunned down in a pasture on the Fourth of July in 2012. After a three-year investigation, a Hensler man was charged with felony criminal mischief. The couple had just waved goodbye to Stephanie&#8217;s mother as she walked through airport security when bomb blasts tore through the airport. One relative says the family is hoping &#8220;they&#8217;ve just been helping people, which is very much their nature.&#8221; A number of Americans remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the attack, including some U.S. government personnel. They&#8217;re briefing reporters Wednesday in Calexico, a city of about 40,000 people located 120 miles east of San Diego. The tunnel links Calexico with the large industrial city of Mexicali, Mexico. Dozens of tunnels designed to smuggle drugs have been found along the U.S.-Mexico border in recent years.
