Valley City (CSi) Authorities have arrested a Valley City State University faculty member in Valley City, which occurred on March 22, 2016.<\/p>\n

33 year old Long Ram Lau faces a charge of unauthorized use of personal identity and possession of stolen property.<\/p>\n

Lau is employed as an Assistant Professor in the VCSU Social Science Department.<\/p>\n

The Valley City Police report from Chief Fred Thompson says in part, that a search warrent was obtained for Lau’s apartment and that in excess of two hundred credit cards and gift cards in various names were located and seized, along with multiple computers, electronic storage devices, suspected counterfeit merchandise and medicines. Also seized was a large amount of financial paperwork.<\/p>\n

An amended search warrent was later served for Lau’s office at VCSU where additional credit and gift cards, computers, and electronic storage devices were seized.<\/p>\n

Lau was placed under arrest for Unauthorized Use of Personal Information and Possession of Stolen Property.<\/p>\n

He was taken to the Barnes County Correction Center where he was booked.<\/p>\n

The investigation continues and is expected to be lengthy and include forensic examinations of the computers and electronic storage devices.<\/p>\n

The Valley City Police Department will work with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and ICE in the investigation.<\/p>\n

Valley City Police is asking the public for any information in the case by calling VCPD at 701-845-3110, as additional individuals involved in the case are being sought.<\/p>\n

The investigation began in mid March when a victim checked her credit score and discovered irregularities and contacted Fargo Police, filing a crime report.<\/p>\n

A tipster, who worked for a Valley City employer contacted, and supplied police with photos of many credit cards with various names and believed to be illegal, alleged to have been taken at 324 6th Avenue Southwest, Apt #4 in Valley City. The resident of the apartment was identified as Long Ram Lau.<\/p>\n

The photos and information supplied by the informant were not solicited by Valley City Police.<\/p>\n

Based on the subsequent investigation of information obtained from the photos, Valley City Police Lt. Sweson was able to identify and locate one victim, and when contacted determined that the individual had recently been contacted by a credit card company referencing a newly issued credit card in their name.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) The Stutsman County Commission has unanimously approved replacing County Auditor\/COO Casey Bradley, on the Stutsman County Grievance Committee, due to a conflict of interest Bradley has with a grievance filed with the county last month.<\/p>\n

The commission appointed Stutsman County Social Services Director, Sandy Bendewald, to Bradley\u2019s non-voting position on the Grievance Committee.<\/p>\n

Bradley stated that he has a conflict of interest in a grievance filed by former Stutsman County Sheriff’s Sgt., Elizabeth Kapp, who was was terminated on February 27, 2016, by Sheriff Chad Kaiser.<\/p>\n

Bradley said a date has not yet been set for hearing on her grievance before the Grievance Committee. The Grievance Committee is made up of : Gwen DuBord, account benefits coordinator; Elise Miller, Social Service human service program administrator 4; David Bratton, veterans service officer; Mickey Nenow, road superintendent; Mark Klose, County Commission chairman; and David Schwartz, County Commission member.<\/p>\n

Bradley said the findings of the Grievance Committee can be appealed to the County Commission.<\/p>\n

Valley City (CSi) Those interested in running for two seats on the Valley City Commission during the June 14, 2016 elections, have until Monday April 11, 2016 to return a petition with the required number of signatures.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Police say a fourth person in the Fargo-Moorhead area has died from an apparent heroin overdose. The 20-year-old man died Tuesday night on the Minnesota side of the Red River in Moorhead. Police Lt. Tory Jacobson says first responders tried to revive the man with an opiate antidote but didn’t succeed. There have been three similar deaths in the last month.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A Ward County prosecutor is accused of drunken driving.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Deputy State’s Attorney Kelly Dillon was arrested Saturday night after police say she crashed her car into a parked vehicle and her blood-alcohol level tested more than double the legal limit for driving.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No one was hurt in the crash.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dillon did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment on Thursday.

(AP) – A woman accused of visiting hundreds of medical facilities around the country to obtain unnecessary prescription drugs with her Medicare benefits has been sentenced to 15 months in custody and ordered to pay back more than $107,000. Authorities say 52-year-old Lowie Christie caused about 1,830 claims to be submitted to Medicare for prescription drugs between 2007 and 2013. One prosecutor called it an egregious case of doctor-shopping.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. CSi\u00a0 Troopers responded to numerous property and injury crashes Wednesday in Mountrail, Ward, McKenzie and Williams counties today. Local police departments and sheriff’s offices also responded to crashes. Roadways were icy and a travel alert was in effect earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

Three separate incidents caused roadways to be blocked. Westbound Highway 2, west of Ray, was closed for 1.5 hours by a serious injury crash. Eastbound Highway 2 by Berthold was closed by a jackknifed semi for five hours; traffic was diverted onto county roads. Highway 22 by Mandaree was blocked by several semis unable to drive up icy hills. Traffic was backed up for several miles and the traffic jam took a few hours to return to normal.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association is giving a $3,000 reward to an unnamed informant who helped crack a cattle-killing case in Oliver County. The group also is giving $1,500 each to the two ranch families affected by what Brand Board Chairman Jeff Schafer calls “a senseless shooting.” That money comes from a donation by Dakota Community Bank and Trust. Nine cattle belonging to John Dixon and Miles Tomac were gunned down in a pasture on the Fourth of July in 2012. After a three-year investigation, a Hensler man was charged with felony criminal mischief. Dillon Gappert eventually resolved the case by agreeing to pay $5,000 in restitution – about 40 percent of the cattle’s value.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the city of Washburn violated the state’s open meetings laws by holding committee meetings without providing notice.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The opinion stems from meetings that were held after the Washburn City Commission directed two commissioners to serve on a committee to discuss garbage collection contracts and make recommendations to the commission.

Stenehjem says the group failed to provide or post any notice of its first meeting and did not fully comply with the requirements for providing notice of a special meeting for its remaining two meetings.

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Democratic governor candidate Marvin Nelson has chosen New Rockford Sen. Joan Heckaman as his running mate. Nelson introduced Heckaman as his choice for lieutenant governor on Wednesday in Grand Forks. Nelson is a state representative from Rolla. He announced last week he’s seeking the Democratic nomination for governor. The 69-year-old Heckaman is a retired teacher and has served in the North Dakota Senate since 2007. Three Republicans are running for the governor’s seat: Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, Bismarck state Rep. Rick Becker and Fargo businessman Doug Burgum. None of the men have chosen a running mate.<\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that Williston in 2015 continued to be the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the country, with a nearly 9.9 percent growth rate. A micropolitan area has a population of 10,000 to 50,000 people.

Rodriguez has 687 home runs, 75 shy of Barry Bonds’ career record. He returned last season from a one-year drug suspension. Later Wednesday, two New York-area newspapers reported that Rodriguez told them – one in an email and the other in a text – that he was “thinking in terms of my contract which ends in 2017.” He told the New York Post and New York Daily News, “After that, we’ll see what happens. Forbes estimates the team is worth $3.4 billion, up 6 percent from last year. The second most valuable team is Los Angeles with the Dodgers valued at $2.5 billion, followed by the Red Sox at $2.3 billion, the Giants at $2.25 billion and the Cubs at $2.2 billion.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UNDATED (AP) – Former major league catcher and longtime broadcaster Joe Garagiola (gehr-uh-JEE’-oh-luh) has passed away at 90.\u00a0 His nine-year playing career included helping his hometown St. Louis Cardinals win the 1946 World Series as a 20-year old rookie.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Following his playing career he had tremendous success in the broadcasting booth, doing games for NBC television and eventually the Arizona Diamondbacks. He also appeared on NBC’s Today Show and was a frequent guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Growing up in the Hill neighborhood of St. Louis not far from future Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, Garagiola went on to hit .257 during nine years in the majors.

BRUSSELS (AP) – A fifth Brussels attacker may have been spotted on surveillance video. Belgian media are reporting that two men are seen in surveillance images from Tuesday at the Brussels subway. One of them already has been identified as suicide bomber Khalid El Bakraoui. The other one reportedly is at large. Three suspects are seen on surveillance cameras at Belgium’s airport. Two of those suspects are dead, and authorities believe the third is still alive and on the run.

Police Scotland say the bodies of a man and woman had been recovered in the Scottish Highlands. The bodies of 24-year-old Rachel Slater and 27-year-old Tim Newton were discovered last night. Police say formal identification is underway. The Ben Nevis peak is more than 4,400 feet high.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – A former truck driver from New York state will be spending the rest of his life behind bars for molesting children. David Allen Vickers was sentenced yesterday to more than 100 years behind bars for repeatedly abusing two children as he made deliveries in Canada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Vickers is also accused of abusing other children. Two years ago, Vickers’ brother was sentenced to 107 years in prison for sexually abusing five children.
