BOTH THE<br \/>\n\u00a0WARM AND COLD FRONTAL PASSAGES ARE FORECAST TO REMAIN GENERALLY<br \/>\n\u00a0DRY.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents regarding a high risk sex offender living in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>59 year old Walter Joseph Grant, JR.,is living at 517 4th Street NW, Jamestown, ND<\/p>\n<p>Grant is 59 year old, American Indian, male, Five feet seven inches tall, weighing 204 pounds with brown eyes, and black hair.<\/p>\n<p>He was convicted of Sexual Assault in April of 2005 in U.S. Federal Court.<\/p>\n<p>Disposition, one year and one day, with 24 months suspended.<\/p>\n<p>He was convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition in September of 1989 in Burleigh County District Court.<\/p>\n<p>Disposition, Five years, with 69 days credit for time served.<\/p>\n<p>Grant is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation.<\/p>\n<p>He is on GPS Monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>Grant is not wanted by police at this time, and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Printed handouts of the demographics of Grant are available at the Jamestown Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>More information on registered offenders on the ND Attorney General\u2019s web site: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sexoffender.nd.gov\/\">www.sexoffender.nd.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jamestown (CSi) Five Jamestown authors will be at a local author reading and signing event at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, in the lobby of the Reiland Fine Arts Center at the University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Authors Bruce Berg, Bill Kennedy, Keith Norman, Nancy Kuykendall and Glauco Ortolano will be present at the event. James River Valley Library System will receive 15 percent of the proceeds generated at the reading.<\/p>\n<p>Berg is the author of several books, including &#8220;Common Ground,&#8221; &#8220;Writer\u2019s Block,&#8221; &#8220;Sun Sports,&#8221; &#8220;Hear It Now and Then&#8221; and &#8220;Pull Up a Chair.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy focuses his writing on intermediate grade novels that feature Tramp, the world\u2019s best dog detective. He is the development director for the James River Valley Library System.<\/p>\n<p>His books include &#8220;The Singing Bone&#8221; and &#8220;Tramp, A Detective\u2019s Story.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Norman over the past decade, has written a dozen nonfiction books based on regional history. In the past two years, he has expanded into fiction with a special interest in historic fiction.<\/p>\n<p>Norman\u2019s books include &#8220;Chasing the Dream,&#8221; &#8220;The President\u2019s Safari&#8221; and &#8220;Dog Days of the Great War.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Following Nancy Kuykendall\u2019s retirement from teaching, she began writing. Her books include memoirs &#8220;Mornings on the Porch&#8221; and &#8220;Ordinary Wonders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ortolano is a writer and scholar who is originally from Brazil. He is currently director of Jamestown English language and culture at the University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Ortolano has authored novels, short stories and poetry published in Portuguese and English, served as contributing editor for World Literature Today and is co-founder and vice president of the Brazilian Writer\u2019s Association of New York.<\/p>\n<p>His books include &#8220;Humaniqueness: The Gift of Your Inner God&#8221; and a historical novel published in Portuguese.<\/p>\n<p>Berg, Kennedy and Norman recently together published a book, &#8220;Three Authors of Jamestown,&#8221; featuring poetry, commentary and short fiction.<\/p>\n<p>The three local authors got together last fall to read each other\u2019s works and talk about writing. From that initial collaboration the authors have written a book called &#8220;BBK: Three Authors of Jamestown,&#8221; a self-published book.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Berg, Kennedy, and Norman spoke about the collaboration, as each author contributed works including short stories, essays and poetry.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy said when he sat down to talk with Berg and Norman, it became clear that this collaboration would be successful.<\/p>\n<p>The book costs $15 and may be purchased through Amazon.com or by going to www.keithnormanbooks.com.<\/p>\n<p>The book will be featured at a Read Local, authors event. Berg, Kennedy and Norman will read selected works from the book. Norman says the book will be available for purchase starting April 9<sup>th<\/sup>, with copies included at the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Local authors Nancy Kuykendall and Glauco Ortolano will also read from selections of their works at the event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; No one was hurt when a construction truck crashed into a home in a newly developed neighborhood in Mandan.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Homeowner Carrie Zent\u00a0 says she thought a window had blown in downstairs on a stormy Wednesday night. When she went to check she saw the damage and the truck and called 911.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The construction truck and trailer were loaded with concrete molds. The truck was parked on a downhill slope, and somehow broke loose and plowed into the home&#8217;s office area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINOT, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Minot police have arrested two people after recovering counterfeit money and equipment used to make it during a search of a residence.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say they also uncovered drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home on Wednesday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the fake money is linked to some recent cases in which bogus bills have been passed at businesses.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Officers arrested a 23-year-old woman on felony drug and counterfeiting charges, and a 29-year-old man on a felony drug charge. Formal charges were pending.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities have filed 22 felony charges against a man in connection with a bust in Fargo that police say netted numerous narcotics, weapons and counterfeit bills.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-three-year-old John Iten faces drug, forgery and child endangerment charges. The Associated Press requested comment Thursday from defense attorney Mark Beauchene.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Iten could enter pleas at a May 11 hearing. He could face life in prison without parole if convicted of the more serious charges against him.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo police say they recovered methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, ecstasy, LSD, various painkillers, testosterone and anabolic steroids in the bust earlier this week, along with loaded guns including an AK-47 rifle. Police Lt. Shannon Ruziska called it &#8220;one of the most significant and visually appealing busts&#8221; in recent memory.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Fargo&#8217;s Hector International Airport has landed the Fed Ex Express air cargo company.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Airport Authority Executive Director Shawn Dobberstein says a five-year contract has been signed that calls for the airport to make about $1.4 million in improvements to accommodate up to 20 Fed Ex Express flights daily.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In return, Hector International will receive about $115,000 in landing fees per year and could take in an additional $100,000 in federal airport funding related to air cargo operations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fed Ex Express will move from the Grand Forks airport, with the first Fargo flights expected in the fall. The company cites enhanced service to customers in North Dakota and northern Minnesota for the move. About 75 people will work for Fed Ex Express in Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Burgum has picked Watford City Mayor Brent Sanford as his lieutenant governor running mate.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Burgum made the announcement Thursday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sanford is a Watford City native and has been mayor of the oil patch city since 2010. He owns an automobile dealership in the town.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Burgum says Sanford&#8217;s experience helped &#8220;grow Watford City from a small community to an economic hub while keeping local taxes low and improving the quality of life.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is the GOP&#8217;s endorsed candidate for governor. Two out of three said they view the party negatively. The new poll finds that 48 percent have a favorable view of the Democratic Party, while 50 percent have an unfavorable view.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) &#8211; As he faces the increasing likelihood of a contested Republican convention, Donald Trump is expanding the role of veteran political operative Paul Manafort in his campaign. A statement says Manafort will &#8220;be responsible for all activities&#8221; involving the delegate process and the convention itself. The announcement comes as the candidate refocuses his efforts on his home state of New York. Trump has canceled a planned trip to California, including a press conference that had been scheduled for tomorrow.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BRUSSELS (AP) &#8211; He&#8217;s known as &#8220;the man in the hat&#8221; &#8212; and authorities in Brussels want to know a lot more about him. He was seen at the Brussels airport with two suicide bombers before they died in the March 22nd attacks. And photos released by prosecutors from surveillance cameras show him leaving the airport on foot, walking to a nearby town and then into Brussels. At some point, he discarded the white jacket he was wearing. Prosecutors are appealing for help from anyone who might have seen him, or who might know anything about him.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 BERLIN (AP) &#8211; Bavarian police say they have arrested two men, an Iraqi and a Nigerian, on suspicion that they may have been preparing a &#8220;serious act of violence.&#8221; They say the two men were detained in Munich Thursday following a tip to security authorities. A newspaper (Sueddeutsche Zeitung) quotes a prosecutor as saying there had been indications that the two men were in contact with members of the Islamic State group.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 INDIANAPOLIS (AP) &#8211; Indiana Gov. Mike Pence&#8217;s office says it has confidence that the state&#8217;s new abortion law is constitutional despite a court challenge from the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky.
