City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the fire was out when the units arrived.<\/p>\n
No major damage to the pickup truck, with the likely cause electrical.<\/p>\n
The four city fire units and 31 fire fighters were on the scen about 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

Board member terms set to expire in June are those of three city representatives, and one rural representative.<\/p>\n
Those filing include: City representatives incumbants\u00a0 Roger Haut, and Diane Hanson, along with Jennifer (Scholser) \u00a0Schmidt, and Cyndi Wish.<\/p>\n
Gail Martin is not seeking re-election.<\/p>\n

Omaha (CSi) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer\u2019s reports that Pipestem Reservoir is currently at pool elevation 1443.9 feet, which results in 0.9 percent of the flood pool occupied.<\/p>\n
Inflows are currently 10 cubic feet per second (cfs) with no reservoir release.<\/p>\n
Jamestown Reservoir is currently at pool elevation 1430.8 feet, which is 0.2 feet below the base of the flood pool. Inflows are minimal with no reservoir release.<\/p>\n
The maximum combined release from the reservoirs is not expected to exceed 200 cfs this summer; however, significant rainfall could necessitate higher release levels.<\/p>\n
The upper James River basin is currently in abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions according to the US Drought Monitor, which could decrease rainfall runoff into the reservoirs.<\/p>\n

David Swenson and Officer Wade Hannig observed Glenn Leeds as the driver of a white pickup truck exiting the parking lot of Moe\u2019s Eats in Valley City. The police were familiar with Leeds from prior contacts and a check with Barnes County Communications Center revealed Leeds\u2019 Nebraska license was revoked.<\/p>\n They followed Leeds to his destination at 324 6th Avenue, Southwest and placed him under arrest for driving with a suspended or revoked license. While still at the scene Leeds requested the officers contact a friend at his apartment to obtain his wallet and cellphone before being transported to Barnes County Corrections for booking.<\/p>\n Lt. Swenson went to the apartment where a man answering the door identified himself as someone fixing Leeds\u2019 computer. While obtaining Leeds\u2019 possessions, Swenson observed two AR-15 type rifles on a desk with the barrels pointing toward the apartment entry.<\/p>\n A criminal history records check revealed that Leeds\u2019 has a “Nebraska Convicted Felon – No Gun Sale” court order. Leeds provided a consent to search the apartment where officers located eight firearms and ammunition that were impounded as evidence for additional charges of felon in possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n The Valley City Police Department is requesting that anyone with information related to this case call (701) 845-3110.<\/p>\n \u3000<\/p>\n Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) Board of Directors, Monday, discussed plans for a $150 million cellulosic ethanol plant at the Spiritwood Energy Park Association industrial park that\u00a0are underway.<\/p>\n That, \u00a0according to Thomas Corle, founding partner of New Energy Investors,\u00a0of \u00a0Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n If built, the ethanol plant would directly employ about 40 people with another 60 people working indirectly for the plant.<\/p>\n The Board\u00a0 approved recommending a $75,000 match to a $225,000 grant that New Energy Investors has applied for from the Agricultural Products Utilization Committee.<\/p>\n If the APUC grant is approved in May, the money would be used to continue the planning and engineering work for the project.<\/p>\n The planned plant would process corn stover, corn stalks and leaves removed from the field after the grain is harvested and wheat straw to produce ethanol for fuel and lignin, a solid fuel that can be burned by coal-fired generating plants reducing carbon emissions.<\/p>\n It would be the first use of Danish technology to produce cellulosic ethanol in the Midwest.<\/p>\n Construction of the plant will require two years of work with a crew of about 400 people with the plant beginning operations in late 2019 and fully operational by the end of the year.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission\u00a0 Monday, tabled consideration of seeking an increase in the bond for the Two Rivers Activity Center, a move that could save the commission on the overall cost of the bond.<\/p>\n Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department director, Doug Hogan\u00a0 said the idea for including more funds in the bond was suggested by John Shockley.<\/p>\n The Parks and Recreation Commission was going to have a $28.6 million bond sale to finance the first phase of the Two Rivers Activity Center. Hogan said the commission was also considering using a letter of credit, a financial mechanism used to set funds aside for a specific purpose, to be used as an emergency fund in case there were any problems with the project.<\/p>\n Hogan said the bond company, Dougherty & Co. recommended increasing the bond amount to $30.8 million, then taking $2 million to establish a debt-service fund.<\/p>\n Hogan did not have any final numbers on how much money the Parks and Recreation Commission would save by putting more money in the bond.<\/p>\n Hogan said the\u00a0plan \u00a0for increasing the bond amount came from discussions with Jamestown City Administrator Jeff Fuchs and Mayor Katie Andersen at a meeting that included Hogan, City Attorney Leo Ryan and Shockley on Friday.
