(Jamestown, ND) On September 13, 2023, at approximately 1202 hrs., the Jamestown Police Department was notified of an aggravated assault that took place at a residence near the 500 block of 19 St SW in Jamestown. The assault had occurred earlier in the day and the victim was able to get away from the suspect.

Officers responded and interviewed the victim about the incident. The victim was able to identify the suspect. However, the suspect’s whereabouts were unknown, as he was recently released from the ND Department of Corrections. The victim described being struck by a weapon during the assault, which caused injuries to the victim’s head. The victim also reported being threatened with potential future violence during the altercation.

Further investigation alleges the suspect made entry into the victim’s residence by climbing through a balcony door, as he was not authorized to be inside, and did so with the intent to commit the assault. Officers completed interviews with other individuals involved or who had knowledge of the alleged incident and were able to gather evidence related to the crime.

On September 14, 2023, at approximately 1220 hrs., a Jamestown Police Officer located the suspect at a residence in the 500 block of 3 St SE. The suspect was detained and taken into custody, without incident

The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Jeremy Lee Blum. Blum does not have a permanent residence, but has ties to Mandan, ND. Blum was arrested on suspicion of Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Terrorizing. He was transported to Stutsman County Corrections, to await formal charges.
The investigation into this incident continues and further charges are possible.
