Sister Therese Celine (Margaret) Craven  89 years old, died at Maryvale in Valley City, North Dakota, October 24, 2024.  She was well cared for by St. Anne’s staff and CHI Home and Hospice. Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30.   The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024.  All will be held at Maryvale Chapel, 11550 River Road, Valley City, ND.  

Margaret was born, January 11, 1935 in Spring Valley, Illinois to William and Theresa (Lami) Craven. She graduated from Hall Township High School in 1951.   She made Vows of consecrated chastity, obedience and poverty to God with the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation, August 18, 1953. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and Education from Great Falls College, Great Falls, Montana, August 1966. She also received Licentiate in Religious Studies at St. Teresa’s College Winona, Minnesota and in Pastoral Ministry from St. Cyril and Methodius College, Orchard Lake, Michigan. 

Sister Therese Celine served as an elementary teacher at St. Patrick’s School, Washington, Illinois 1953-61; St. Catherine’s School, Valley City, ND 1961-71, 1972-77; and St. Boniface School, Walhalla, ND 1984-89. She was coordinator of Adult Education and Religion at St. Patrick’s Parish, Washington, IL 1971-72; she provided pastoral assistance at St. Catherine’s Parish, Valley City 1977-81; Faith Formation Coordination and Pastoral Ministry at St. Joachim’s Parish and SMPH- St. Kateri, Rolla, ND 1981-84;  Parish Ministry at St. Boniface Parish, Walhalla, ND 1989-91, Religious Educator Coordinator and Pastoral Ministry, St. Anthony’s Parish (Nativity of Our Lord), Spring Valley, IL 1991-95.  She then visited the sick and home-bound at St. Patrick’s Parish, Washington, IL 1997-2005 and at St. Cecilia’s Parish, Harvey, ND 2005-10  before retiring at Maryvale, Valley City in 2010.

She is survived by her Religious Community, the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation,  niece Jane (Mick) Weberski, nephew Bill Craven and numerous grand nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings – James (Judy), William (Edna), Marie (Earl) Sadnick; and niece Mary Ann Reeling.
