UJ – The University of Jamestown men’s volleyball team lost in five sets against #8 Westcliff University in their first match up at the Pirate Invitational in Parkville, Mo Thursday evening at the Breckon Sports Center

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors were off to a strong start and were on the board first by going on a 3-0 scoring run to start the first set
- The Warriors held an 11-7 lead on the Jimmies but a 4-0 scoring run led by a kill by Michal Niemiec and two aces by Gabriel Ocasio and Tomasz Swiderski the Jimmies took a 13-12 lead
- The set was back and forth but a late 2-0 score run by the Warriors gave them the first set
- In the second the Jimmies went on a 4-0 scoring run going up 8-5 led by two errors and kills by Michal Niemiec and Tomasz Swiderski and was enough of a cushion for the Jimmies to take the second set
- In the third set the Warriors went on a 3-0 scoring run to take the lead 8-5 and another 3-0 scoring run 24-15 to secure the third set but the Jimmies did finish on their own 3-0 scoring run 24-18
- The Jimmies took the ending momentum of the third set and came out in the fourth on another 3-0 scoring run leading but the Warriors answered back and an error by the Jimmies had the fourth tied 8-8
- The Warriors went an another 3-0 scoring run which led to a Jamestown timeout and sparked a 6-0 scoring run by the Jimmies to take the lead again 19-16
- A pair of kills by Benjamin Allfred and Tomasz Swiderski sealed the fourth set win to head to a fifth set
- The fifth set was a back and forth battle but a short 2-0 scoring run by the Warriors proved to be enough to defeat the Jimmies
