Philip Kevin Van Erem, age 71, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025. Born on February 27, 1954, in Jamestown, North Dakota, Phil was a beloved father, brother, and friend, whose vibrant spirit and love for life touched many people.
Phil was an active and cherished member of the Jamestown community, where he dedicated his time to local organizations, including the Optimist Club and the Choralaires Choir. His passion for music, particularly singing, brought joy not only to himself but also to countless others. Phil loved to spend time outdoors, taking his daughters on memorable camping trips across the country and enjoying weekends on the water, boating & fishing with family and friends.
Phil built a successful career with his entrepreneurial spirit that began in banking & finance before evolving into real estate and business ownership in Jamestown.
In recent years, Phil moved to Maple Grove, Minnesota, to be closer to his daughter, Elizabeth, son-in-law Dustin, and grandson Bodhi, who brought him immense joy. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Lauby (Maple Grove, MN), Jess Francis (Minot, ND), and Annie Schlecht (Wimbledon, ND); his siblings Kay Ann Van Erem (Bismarck, ND), Alayne Van Erem (Arden Hills, MN), and Greg Van Erem (Stillwater, MN); as well as numerous cherished friends and relatives.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Shirlee (Sagaser) Van Erem; and his beloved grandson, Kyan Lauby.
A memorial service to honor Phil’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, at 2:30 PM with visitation starting at 2 PM at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Phil’s life and the many memories he leaves behind.
Phil will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his laughter, love, and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.
