MDU was called to the scene, as reports indicated a strong smell of natural gas in the area.

A landscaping company was digging in the backyard of the home at 220 15th Street Southwest when the natural gas line was struck.

The fire department was standing by at the scene while MDU assessed the situation, and dug up the line near the street to shut it down.   The line was closed off at about 11:35 a.m.

The homeowner was contacted to ventilate the home after the gas line was pinched off.
