FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The leading scorer for the North Dakota State University men’s basketball team will be out four to six weeks with a broken foot.
Taylor Braun broke a bone in his right foot Saturday in NDSU’s win over Oakland. Coach Saul Phillips says it might have happened when Braun’s foot landed on something – possibly the foot of a television cameraman on the sidelines – or when he made a hard cut.
Phillips says he hopes Braun will be back for the Summit League tournament in early March.
The Bison are 15-3 and 6-0 in the conference heading into this week’s games against Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis on Thursday and Western Illinois on Saturday.
Meanwhile…
Several starters on the North Dakota State University football team might take up to a month off before starting winter workouts to recover from injuries.
The two-time national champions have played 30 games in the last two seasons including playoff games. That’s almost three seasons’ worth of games.
Coach Craig Bohlsays NDSU also will have to catch up on the recruiting trail. He says that while the Bison were on their run to a second consecutive NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title, other schools were talking to potential recruits.
