Jamestown (CSi) Wednesday night’s Blue Jay football game at Ernie Gates Field in Jamestown will be the last for Jamestown at the state’s highest level of high school football, as the North Dakota High School Board of Directors has given final approval on the new four-class system today, based on enrollment.
The action will move Jamestown from Class AAA to a new 10-team Class AA division.
Under the new plan, Class AAA will include the 14 largest school districts. Devils Lake and Jamestown will both move to Class AA with Bismarck St. Mary’s, Central Cass, Fargo Shanley, Grafton, Turtle Mountain, Wahpeton, Watford City and Valley City. The top six teams will make the playoffs under the new Class AA plan.
Jamestown will go from being the second-smallest school in Class AAA to the largest in Class AA.
