santacops4kids1Valley City  (CSi)  Valley City police officers will help children who have experienced hardships this year shop for themselves and their families.

This year’s  Santa, Cops & Kids night is Wednesday, December 14, 2016.

Event coordinator Valley City Police Sgt. Dana Rustebakke says, the evening consists of a Pizza Corner meal, followed by shopping at Shopko in Valley City.

He points out that a number of law enforcement vehicles will flash their lights and sounding their sirens along Valley City’s Main Street after supper to go Christmas shopping with the kids.

Volunteers will the wrap the gifts for the children that evening.  After, Santa will make a special stop for the kids at the Valley City Rec Center.

Rustebakke says the event coordinates with Barnes County Social Services to provide Santa gifts to all foster children and needy families of Barnes County.

The program is funded from community donations, including individuals and businesses in the area to be used for children in who live in Barnes County.
