Kulm, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jan 19, 2013) — The Gackle Brothers building in Kulm went up in flames Saturday morning.
The fire about 9-a.m.was called in by a passerby, as fire departments from Kulm and Edgeley battled the blaze, fanned by strong northwesterly wind.
Fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading, to nearby structures.
A total of 25 to 30 firefighters and six vehicles were called to the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be from electrical short in a vehicle, brought in for repair.
The building’s owner, Wes Gackle says, the building likely was constructed the early 1900’s, with part of the building leased to the to D&D Repair business., and the rest used for storage.
After the fire was put out, heavy machinery pulled down the down the walls.
Firefighters were on the scene about five hours.
