Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Feb 20, 2012) — A two vehicle accident on Highway One south of Interstate 94 southwest of Valley City Monday, about 12:30-p.m., claimed the life of an Oakes teenager.

The Highway Patrol says another person is in critical condition in a Fargo hospital. Four others were transported to a hospital and treated for injuries.

The Highway Patrol says a vehicle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle.

The Patrol says the driver of the car, 16 year-old Ashley Meyer of Oakes and her 17 year-old passenger, Danielle Brown of Oakes, were enroute from Oakes, to Jamestown when she lost control of her vehicle and spun into southbound lane and into the path of an oncoming minivan. The minivan hit the car on the driver side door.

The van was driven by a 79-year-old Richard Olson of  LaMoure. The van’s driver and passengers, a 79-year-old Rebecca Olson of LaMoure, a 55 year-old woman and a 59-year-old man from Jamestown, list as Paul and Janice McIntosh, were all taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City for treatment of injuries.

16 year-old Ashley Meyer was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger,  17-year-old Danielle Brown of Oakes, was taken to Mercy Hospital and then to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo,her condition update on Tuesday was not available.
