Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Feb 5, 2013) — The Barnes County Commission has voted 4-1 to combine 9-1-1 services with Stutsman and Richland Counties.

County Commissioner Phil Leitner voted against the plan.

The agreement comes as the Valley City Dispatch Center is in the process of transferring from city to Barnes County control.

The agreement includes the cost of purchasing new equipment for Barnes County.

Barnes County will pay $151,000 to join Stutsman and Richland Counties.

Barnes County Commission vote 4-1 against joining the Red River Regional Dispatch Center, with an estimated cost of $132,000.

Another option would have been to join the Red River Regional dispatch center at an estimated cost of $132,000.

In a related move, the Barnes County Commissioners unanimously approved entering into an agreement with Valley City, for the lease of space from Valley City for the 9-1-1 operations and Law Enforcement Center at a cost of $15,000 per year, pending final approval by both parties.
